Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Sheikh’s Evaluation and the Ignition of Resolve

The return to the castle was silent, yet the silence was heavy with meaning. Sultan and Khalid walked side by side, each step leaving a mark on the dew-soaked ground, their young eyes still glowing from the intensity of their first confrontation with the Shift. They were no longer merely children wandering between stone walls—they felt the weight of responsibility, understanding that their power was no longer a game.

Sheikh Abdulrahman met them at the grand hall's doorway, his eyes flickering like the wavering candlelight, glimmering with both caution and pride. His voice, calm yet commanding, measured each word as if weighing the whole world:

"Today, you faced more than a child should… more than some adults witness in their entire lives… The power that emerged within you is not just an element… it is a reflection of your hearts."

Sultan, trying to comprehend his feelings, replied in a hesitant but sincere voice:

"I didn't feel fear alone… I felt everything around me watching… testing me… as if the earth itself expected me to prove that I deserve this power."

Khalid, quieter but with words heavier than his age, added:

"And I was afraid… but the shadow was with me… and with Sultan… I felt that we are not alone… that there is a bond that makes us stronger."

Sheikh Abdulrahman smiled, placing his hand gently yet firmly on each of their shoulders:

"This is what I wanted you to learn… Fear is not your enemy, it is your teacher… Power is not only in fire, water, or shadow, but in understanding yourself and those around you… Now, it is time to advance to higher training. What you experienced today was merely a spark… what you will learn later will ignite a greater prophecy."

He led the children to the intensive training ground, where the earth was etched with ancient marks, and stone pillars rose like guardians of ancient wisdom. Every step echoed in the space; every small movement revealed their fear, curiosity, and eagerness to understand.

Sultan sat before a block of water, fire gently swirling around his hands, air dancing around his limbs, while Khalid's shadow flowed cautiously around them, testing, protecting, and guiding at once. Each element, each flicker, and each motion was a living lesson in control, balance, and reliance—both on oneself and on others.

Sheikh Abdulrahman observed them, his eyes studying every heartbeat, every hesitation, every small spark of courage kindling within:

"Now, learn that strength is not measured solely by what you can do… but by what you can endure, what you can protect… and what you are willing to sacrifice."

The soft sunlight filtering through the castle windows made the shadows move, the air swirl around the stone pillars, as if nature itself was sharing its lesson with the children: confrontation is not the end—it is the beginning… and their journey has only just started.

They sat together, panting from exertion and awe, their eyes meeting, each seeing in the other a reflection of anxiety, courage, and pride. Here, at the heart of the castle, the two children began to grasp the reality of being at the center of a prophecy, where every feeling, every movement, every breath is part of a greater destiny.
