Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Formal Training and the Seeds of Confrontation

The sound of small footsteps mingled with the echo of the wind seeping through the cracks in the ground. Every movement of the children was measured, every breath Sultan and Khalid drew was accompanied by inner tension and strange curiosity. Mecca, the city of knowledge and protection, was unlike their small village; tall buildings, alleys damp with earth, and the scent of incense and prayers filled the air. Everything was larger, more imposing, more prepared to teach the children the meaning of power and the mastery of the elements.

Sultan, with small yet confident steps, felt the earth itself shift beneath his feet. The heat of fire inside him gradually intensified, and the water he had learned to control responded more readily to his thoughts. Khalid, beside him, his shadow curling mysteriously around them, watched every movement, every tremor, as if the shadow itself was testing the limits of this new power that would later become central to his destiny.

Sheikh Abdulrahman, accompanying them, spoke in a calm voice filled with the weight of his presence:

"Young ones… today you will learn that power is not merely elements… it is perception, balance, and connection with others… every movement, every fear, every smile will affect those around you."

The formal training began: a simple motion of fire, balancing water, a gentle breeze intersecting with the air, and even the earth felt the weight of each step. Sultan tried lifting a small ball of water, and suddenly, fire erupted around it unevenly. Khalid intervened subtly, his shadows weaving in to ease the heat. It was then that both realized the harmony between them had become a tangible tool for controlling the primal forces.

But the most terrifying moment came when the ground beneath them suddenly shook, and a faint sound from the cracks grew louder, closer, more threatening. A small monster, deformed by the Shift, emerged into the light. Its red eyes glowed in the darkness, its tiny teeth sharp, as if testing the children before anything else.

The hut was gone, but the narrow street between the buildings became the stage for confrontation. Sultan, driven by childish impulse and curiosity, raised his hands; fire glowed around him, water swirled around his body in balanced harmony. Khalid surged with shadow to cover the ground, preventing the monster from approaching.

Every movement, every shiver, every fear strengthened the bond between the children. The terror in their eyes did not vanish, but it transformed into the first spark of understanding power and responsibility. Saqr, watching from afar, felt both pride and fear, observing his children as if the fate of the entire world depended on this small moment.

Sheikh Abdulrahman whispered quietly:

"Now, young one… you have learned that power does not come without fear, nor without responsibility… and the monster… is your first test of true control."

The monster, though small, was terrifying, but it was not a final adversary; it was the seed of the first confrontation that would grow later. Sultan, his eyes ablaze, combined fire and water, while Khalid added the shadow. The first eruption of their synchronized energy created a small shockwave that astonished everyone, yet it was a true lesson: real power comes from control and balance, from the heart before the hands.

The streets, the earth, the city itself bore witness to the first lesson in real confrontation—the beginning of the young warrior's trial, and a clear sign that the Shift had not ended, that the monsters would return, and that the first spark of prophecy had begun to stir in earnest.
