Chapter 137 - Final Chapter 132: Home

Jay's POV

Hospitals smell like regret and sanitizer.

I hated it.

But I survived it.

The fall didn't kill me. The arm was fractured, not shattered. Weeks in a cast. Weeks of Keifer hovering like an overprotective bodyguard who forgot how to blink.

"Stop following me," I told him once when I tried to get water.

"You fell off a crane," he replied calmly. "You don't get independence anymore."

"I tripped."

"You were hanging over a cliff."

"Details."

He didn't laugh.

But his eyes did.

Weeks Later

University reopened.

Boarding again.

Same dorm building.

Different energy.

This time it felt like a victory lap.

Ciel, Chantelle and I were dorm mates.

Chantelle changed first.

One evening she burst into the room dramatically.

"I told my mom."

Ciel paused mid-skincare routine. "Told her what?"

"That I don't want business. I want dancing. And graphic design."

Silence.

"And?" I asked carefully.

Chantelle's eyes filled.

"She said… she said if I'm going to chase something, I should chase it properly."

Ciel screamed.

I tackled Chantelle into a hug.

"Future world famous designer," I announced.

"Or dancer," she corrected proudly.

"Or both," I said.

She smiled like someone who finally chose herself.

Life moved.

We moved with it.

Felix became captain of the basketball team. He walked around campus like he owned the court and the air above it.

"Respect your captain," he'd say dramatically.

"Respect your haircut first," Yuri would reply.

Eman became class captain of his cooking program and also worked in the dining hall as a barista.

He took it too seriously.

"If you don't appreciate the foam art, don't order it," he once warned Keifer.

Adrian became IT support.

Which meant anytime someone's laptop froze, they screamed, "ADRIAAAN!"

He hated it.

Calix and David became campus tour guides and ambassadors. They had matching blazers and overly rehearsed smiles.

Chantelle and Ciel became student content creators.

They were everywhere.

"Don't move," Ciel would whisper suddenly. "This lighting is perfect."

Ci-n finally tried flying a plane.

He came back grinning like a child who stole the sky.

"I didn't crash," he announced proudly.

"That's the bare minimum," Felix replied.

And somehow…

I became Resident Advisor.

Me.

The girl who once fell off a crane.

Now responsible for keeping freshmen from burning noodles at 2 a.m.

"Life is ironic," I told Keifer once.

He nodded. "At least you're not hanging from it anymore."

Graduation

It came too fast.

Caps.

Gowns.

Families everywhere.

I saw Keiren and Keagan waving like proud siblings. Luke and Eli stood slightly to the side, pretending they weren't emotional.

Keifer stood in front.

Looking at me like I'd already won.

Then the dean said my name.

"And we would like Jay to give a speech."

I blinked.

"Why me?" I whispered.

Ciel hissed, "Because you survived a villain arc."

I walked up to the podium.

Took a breath.

And spoke.

Jay's Speech

"When I first came to this university, I thought life was simple. Study. Pass. Graduate."

Light laughter.

"I learned quickly that life is not simple. It is loud. It is unfair. It throws exams at you and sometimes cranes."

The crowd laughed louder.

"But here's what I learned. You don't measure strength by how high you climb. You measure it by how many times you get back up."

I glanced at my friends.

"At some point, every single one of us thought we couldn't do something. Speak up. Change majors. Try flying. Lead. Love."

Chantelle was already crying.

"I learned that courage is sometimes saying 'I'm scared' and doing it anyway. I learned that friends are not the people who stand next to you when you're shining. They're the ones who show up when everything is burning."

The crowd quieted.

"And most importantly, I learned that life doesn't end when something breaks. Not an arm. Not a plan. Not a heart. It just reshapes you."

I smiled.

"So go out there. Fail loudly. Love deeply. Eat properly. And if you ever find yourself hanging over a cliff…"

The crowd leaned in.

"…make sure you have dramatic friends. O guess this is the Secret of Hamilton "

The place exploded with laughter and applause.

I stepped down shaking.

Keifer caught my hand.

"Show off," he murmured.

"Obviously."

Certificates were handed out.

Pictures everywhere.

Families hugging.

Chaos in the best way.

Then—

A tap on my shoulder.

I turned.

Keifer.

Holding something.

Small velvet box.

He stepped back slightly.

Then—

Knelt.

Gasps everywhere.

Ciel screamed immediately.

"Oh my God oh my God oh my God."

Keifer looked up at me.

Not joking.

Not dramatic.

Just him.

"Jay," he said softly, "you are the strongest person I know. You argue with danger. You laugh in chaos. And you still choose people."

I felt tears rise instantly.

"I don't promise you a calm life. I promise you a real one. With me. Every version of it. Will you marry me?"

Everyone was frozen.

Yuri whispering loudly, "Say yes before he stands up."

Felix: "If she says no I'm leaving."

Chantelle sobbing openly.

I covered my mouth.

"You're kneeling on concrete," I said weakly.

"Answer the question," he replied.

"Yes."

I didn't whisper it.

I said it clearly.

"Yes."

The world exploded.

Cheering.

Clapping.

Ciel nearly tackled us.

He slipped the ring onto my finger.

It fit perfectly.

"Double celebration!" Felix shouted.

Keifer stood and pulled me into a hug.

Then I kissed him.

And this time—

No cliffs.

No guns.

No villains.

Just sunlight.

And applause.

And the beginning of something that wasn't survival.

It was living.

End. 💛
