Dionne
I slept in the chair longer than I'd intended and I groaned as I woke up, cursing myself for deciding to fall asleep in such a weird position. Now my entire body was hurting, especially my legs that I tucked under me.
I pulled myself into a sitting position and my heart jumped when I found the King sitting in the chair across the room from me, Nora's fingers loose around his, reading something on his phone. I couldn't tell if he'd slept at all.
When Nora she ate some breakfast after the doctor checked on her. She rejected the second cup of juice on the grounds that it tasted different from the first — which it didn't, but no one told her that — and spent twenty minutes conducting a detailed inspection of the tube on the back of her hand before being firmly redirected by me.
The King sat on the opposite side of the bed and watched all of this with the careful attention of someone encountering a species he had not previously studied.
