Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7– MASKED ASSAILANTS

Rin woke up only to jump up from fright. Kai was seated opposite her, staring at her with a void expression, though he wasn't practically close, it was enough to scare the ghost out of Rin.

"W... what are you doing in m... my room?" Rin stuttered in fear.

Kai ignored her; in a moment, he was already standing by the entrance. "We are leaving; clean up and meet me downstairs,' Kai said coldly and left. 'Jerk!' Rin snorted, visibly annoyed. 'First, he breaks into my room, orders me around, and ignores me. Why can't he just act like a normal person? Gosh, this is annoying.' Rin muttered angrily. 'Except he is not entirely a person, I guess,' Rin thought.

Not wanting to keep him waiting, she quickly bathed, wore some new clothes, and rushed downstairs. Kai was nowhere to be found. Rin tilted her head in several directions, but Kai wasn't visible anywhere. 'I might have come too early, but why did it sound like he was already waiting?' 'I am here,' Kai said behind her. Kai's voice startled her, causing her to fall, though Kai was near, he didn't bother to stop her, neither did he even look at her. Rin's eyebrows furrowed angrily as she got up and dusted her clothes. 'Thanks for stopping me,' her words dripped with sarcasm. Kai ignored her. Rin's hand tightened; she felt the urge to hit this guy. 'So what now? Are we leaving?' Rin said, pretending to be impatient. Rin shuddered as her cheeks reddened slightly when she caught a glimpse of Kai staring at her. 'I never knew this house has such thoughtful service,' Kai remarked, seemingly talking to himself. It was now Rin's turn to become surprised.

'You are not joking, are you?' Rin asked, half suspicious, half disappointed.

"If it wasn't you who did," Rin asked.

Kai didn't answer.

'Ahhhh, wh... what are you doing?' Rin screamed and moaned at the same time as she saw Kai hugging her body as his hand slithered around her back. She trembled as his hand made contact with her bare back through her clothes; she felt a slight tug on her dress. 'Found it,' Kai whispered, fondling a small dark device, not noticing Rin's expression. 'We were being tracked, I think, until now,' Kai said as he destroyed the device in one snap. He stared at the frozen Rin. '-We should leave now,' Kai ordered and left, leaving Rin to follow.

Here is the reconstructed text with added sensory details:

As they left the house, Kai strode towards a random car, his movements swift and purposeful. Rin watched intently, her eyes fixed on the car as Kai suddenly shattered the exterior mirror with a punch, instantly triggering a loud, ear-piercing alarm. The sound made Rin jump, and she felt a shiver run down her spine. Kai, as carefree as ever, placed his hand into the damaged car window to unlock the car, his movements smooth and practiced.

Suddenly, there was a loud, angry yell. "Get out of the car, you worthless chap!" A middle-aged, gruff-looking man approached, fuming with rage, his face red with anger. Rin shuddered as she feared for the man's life for going against this monster. Kai calmly walked towards him, his eyes fixed on the man. "Is this your car?" he asked, his voice devoid of emotion.

"Of course it is!" The man yelled angrily, his voice rising. Rin shuddered as she feared for the man's life. "Then my job will be a lot easier," Kai said, and the next instant, his hand became a blur, and the man dropped unconscious, his body hitting the ground with a thud. Rin's eyes widened in shock, her heart racing with fear. "Get in!" Kai ordered, he had already opened the door with the key he stole. Rin nodded sheepishly and got in, still staring at Kai, her heart thumping fast as she remembered when Kai hugged her. Though she felt scared, it felt good at the same time. The way her breasts pressed against his chest and the way she felt when he touched her back. Though she resented him, something in her really enjoyed this feeling.

As she sat in the car, Rin couldn't help but notice the scent of leather and the faint smell of smoke. Suddenly, her eyes dilated as her cheeks flushed red. "Are you okay?" Kai asked emotionlessly, without looking at her. Rin, initially shocked at the question, confidently retorted, "Why would you care?" Kai merely turned. "No, I really don't, it's just my nose is just akin to smell; I can also detect what caused them, so I suggest you keep those emotions in check. It's annoying," Kai calmly responded.

Rin stuttered, "What do you mean by 'those emotions'?" Kai ignored her question. Rin blushed hard at the unknown. 'What does he mean by cause of smell and emotion,' Rin instantly became enraged. 'Wait, did he actually sniff me? How could he be so disgusting?' While Rin was fuming, Kai lazily said, "Bow your head and take cover." "But why?" Rin asked in confusion. "Because I don't want to have to do it myself; because if I do, you won't just be taking a short nap," he growled. Though angry, Rin quickly complied as she realized the implications of messing with him. Just as she bent, a hole appeared, piercing through the chair in front of her.

If she had moved any slower she would have been done for.

"Bend lower," Kai ordered, his voice slightly raised. Rin quickly complied. A gun sound echoed behind them, which meant the enemies were close by.

More gunshot sounds echoed as three black SUVs appeared behind them, some masked men carrying submachine guns propped slightly from their vehicle windows, many bullets raining on Kai's vehicle as the masked men fired without restraint, targeting the car's weak spot – the tire and the driver. The sound of bullets hitting the metal body of the car was like a drumbeat, making Rin's heart race with fear. The smell of gunpowder and smoke filled the air, and Rin's nostrils flared as she held her breath. Their intention was to stop the car as soon as possible. Soon one of the SUVs began to catch up to Kai's vehicle. "Someone has a death wish," Kai remarked calmly, his voice a stark contrast to the chaos unfolding around them.

"How can you be so calm in this situation?" Rin screamed as the enemy's vehicle rammed into them. The impact was brutal, and Rin's body swayed, almost hitting her head on the window. The sound of crunching metal and shattering glass filled the air, and Rin's ears rang from the loud noise. Kai spun the steering wheel violently while still maintaining his current speed and rammed into the SUV. The impact sent it tumbling till it eventually fell off the bridge. More holes appeared as bullets rained on Kai endlessly. Suddenly, Rin gave a low squirm as one of the glass shards pierced her arm, and she felt a searing pain. Kai, as calm as ever, silently drove, but an unusual sense of bloodlust grew within him.

Soon, the vehicles caught up, surrounding him from both sides. Kai could see their gloating smiles within the clown masks, and he could smell their sweat and fear. "This is so embarrassing; we were outsmarted by a little kid," one of the masked men grimaced. "Enough talking, let's finish him now and take what we came for," another ordered. The next second, guns were pointed and fired at Kai from all directions, but none of them reached him; his movements were very swift and inhumanely fast. Instantly, the expressions of the masked men became solemn and panicked as they fired relentlessly.

'If I keep going, she might get even more hurt than she is now. I'm gonna have to end this,' Kai thought. He spun the steering wheel violently, pushed the accelerator to the max. The car spun, knocking both SUVs away as shards of glass flew mid-air. With the chaotic sound of crunching metals and shattering glass, the SUVs were blasted away from the bridge. As for how the car wasn't greatly damaged in the collision, only Kai knew. However, the battle wasn't over just yet.

Kai looked over at Rin, who was clutching her arm, her face pale with pain. "Can you drive?" he asked, his voice calm. "No!" Rin immediately refused, her voice shaking. "Great, bye," Kai said nonchalantly, he had now loosened his grip on the steering wheel and his foot on the brakes. Rin instantly panicked, "But I just said –" but alas, Kai hopped off the vehicle door. Just as he jumped out, a large explosion suddenly occurred; the force pushed the vehicle forward, and the bridge was broken, but thankfully, Rin had crossed to the other side.

Rin, who had now slipped into the driver's seat, held the steering wheel with trembling hands as she drove carefully. Luckily for her, due to the earlier catastrophe, no vehicle was present, either due to panicked fleeing or being victims of the divided bridge caused by the explosion.

In the devastated landscape under the bridge, seven clown-masked individuals wearing dark vests stood, weapons in hand, surrounding a single person. Fresh blood ran from their heads and bodies. These were the masked assailants who were thrown off the bridge. It turned out that seven of them survived the crash. The severed body parts under the remaining scrap of the SUV said it all.

The one who who could be guessed as their leader stepped forward.

"I admit we underestimated you; we weren't given enough information," the man said, his voice shaking slightly. Kai dusted the soot off his body, his eyes fixed on the man. It turned out that after he eliminated the two SUVs, one of the assailants actually had the guts to shoot him with an RPG. Thankfully, he swung his katana in time, destroying the attack, which caused the earlier explosion, though some of the attacks managed to hit him. Even if it didn't hurt him, it still managed to piss him off.

"So, that's the superb dialogue you created in order for me to spare your life? It's lame," Kai's voice was laced with obvious mockery, and his eyes seemed to gleam with amusement.

His words seemed to have ignited a fire of hatred in the squad as each of them shook with anger. The leader took off his mask revealing a stern bloody face with no distinct wound, his right eye shimmered with purple light, an unknown aura exploded from his body. "I only acknowledged our mistake for underestimating you. I never said you'd live here alive after we take what we want from you." He exploded with killing intent as an energy beam shot out from his right eye. The blast was faster than any bullet but Kai narrowly avoided the attack. The beam cut through the air with a sound that made ears ring.

"Super healing, super ability and sturdy body and some other superhuman skills." Kai muttered loudly in understanding, then he sneered. " You must be the 'Defied'."

"Nothing special comes out of that revelation." The leader released energy beams relentlessly but Kai avoided each attack narrowly.

The others joined in using their various abilities Kai avoided all the attack every step deliberate. When the squad realized they were being toyed with their attacks became more desperate and frenzied. A super strength ability user swung his powered fist only to be sent flying into the skies by an uppercut from Kai his body shot up high onto the sky he turned into meat paste as soon as he landed .

Kai's demeanor changed as a layer of frost covered his feet rendering him immobile. "Kill him, he is a monster." All of them hit him with their strongest attacks. A large explosion was created as a cloud of dust covered the area.
