Chapter 19 - Impending visitors

Meanwhile, Nyx and Asteria had busied themselves with preparing for an impending visit.

In a year, on the summer solstice, the Great god convention would take place. Gods from the entire realm— The forges of Hephaestus. The underwater palace of Posiedon. The realms of Hades— would all gather on Mount Olympus and battle to decide who was the most fit to lead the gods.

So far, no one had been able to best Zeus, and so his reign had stretched across several hundred millenia. The festival itself had long since lost its true meaning .. .

Now it was just a way for Zeus satisfy his own vanity and entertain himself.

And whiles Zeus did consider the god convention a serious matter, she doubted it was the true reason why he was sending visitors. That, she was certain was because of the newly freed Eris.

By now he would have probably realised that Eris had escaped into her realm. Nyx was after all, the only person who would dare to defy him. And so she was certain that whoever he sent would either be tasked with verifying that Eris was here and reporting back, or retrieving her.

Not that she would ever allow that!

All this was running through her head when a loud, amorous moan interrupted her train of thought.

"What? Who? Is that Eris? What is sh-"

But before Nyx could rush put Asteria gently grabbed her wrist to step.

"My lady, I would advise against barging in on them at this moment so you don't end up seeing something unsightly."

After weeks of staying with Nyx and Adam, Asteria who had once been as pure as a blank piece if paper had become accustomed to hearing such noises. As such, she easily recognized the kind of sound Eris was making.

"You mean . . .?"

Nyx's eyes widened widened realization. Her lips curled into a snarl.

"How dare she touch my belonging without my permssion? And under my roof to boot. Ill go teach that unruly brat a lesson."

Nyx was about to leave again when Asteria sghed. "Master, what will lord Adam think about you if you cause trouble because of such a trivial matter?"

Just as she had predicted. Asteria's words caused Nyx to stop dead in her tracks. Of late, she could only convince her master of anything by bringing up her new lover. It's was almost as if he was the only thing her master truly regarded with importance.

"Hmph.... why would I lower myself to the level of that brat?"

Once again Asteria sighed for the future of the Underealm.

————————————

Nothing worthwhile happened in the hours that followed. Eris rested naked within Adam's arms while he contemplated what he was to do from here on out.

Between stroking Eris's hair, he finally got the courage to ask:

"Lena?"

"Yes my lord?"

"What is the current state of my body?"

. . .

"Before I give my lord my report I would first like to say . . .

That today was the day I lost every ounce of the remaining respect I had for my lord— not that it was much to begin with— and that my lord deserved the very worst of outcomes for the foolish, thoughtless action he took today."

Lena's words were scathing but Adam was actually glad to hear them, because the way she was speaking made it sound like the "worst outcome" did not end up happening after all.

And fortunately Lena's next words would only reassured him.

Lena projected the 3d image of a god cell within his mind's eye.

Once again Adam couldn't help but be awed by the cells peculiar appearance: Its volatile, thermal red glow, and the deep, dark blackness it radiated.

"What we feared was that these strange new mutated cells that appeared within your body could become a life threatening cancer.

But upon closer investigation, it seems only the cells properties were changed, their base nature was not.

In other words, they are still aspects of "you" only much more powerful.

This explains why they suddenly targeted the nanites but never once harmed your normal cells.

As of now the god cell turnover has reached 3.6%, an exponential increase from the original 0.8%.

We can only attribute this change to the complete removal of the nanites and the introduction of Eris's virgin divine energy into your body.

While this is definitely good news. Caution is still advised as we do not yet know the effect a turnover above 50% will have on your body.

But for now my lord, you may breath easy . .."

In tandem with Lena's voice, Adam exhaled softly and relaxed his muscles. He could finally put his mind to rest. He took a look at Eris's resting face.

"So beautiful. . ." He thought he sofly stroked her cheek. It had been a while since Adam allowed himself to sleep. And here, im this moment, with Eris, he thought perhaps it was fine to let his gaurd down just this once.

———————————

It was a while before they both woke up, and no one disturbed them either. But another daily cycle had already passed in the realm of Nyx. All servants and lords within the palace took up their roles once more.

Adam had no need for sleep in the first place, sp he'd woken up long ago. His eyes were fixed on Eris's face as her eyes fluttered open to meet his deep gaze.

Her eyes were shy at first, seeking to dodge his gaze, but how could Adam possibly let her evade him. With an evil chuckle he softly grabbed her chin and brought her face right up to his, all while staring deeply into her pupils.

"What? Are you going to run away now?"

Feeling the heat of his body so close to her, the warmth of his breath carresong her face, his entrancing scent, and the remarkable, sculpted features of his face all in such close proximity caused her heartbeat to accelerate, and a red blush to appear on her cheeks and neck.

And as she remembered how she'd completely let go of her inhibitions and given into pleasure the night before, she almost wanted to dig up a whol for herself and hide in it for an eternity.

However, seeing those dark pupils that she'd long since fallen for, her heart calmed, and she remembered what was important.

"Hmph, you scoundrel, you finally laid claim to my body. Are you happy now!?

Whatever, since we've done the deed, you are now my mate.

The first thing you must do is to swear off touching everyone else apart from me. My mother included, there is no way I'm letting you have your way with anyone else now."

"Ah?"

Adam blinked innocently.

"Eris . . . well .. . uhhh . . .that's . .sort of . . .well. .. uhh. . .never going to happen. I'm a free spirt, always have been.

My feelings for you run very deep, and I want you you to possess everything you ever wanted, even if it destroys me.

But you're talking about the impossible here . . ."

Adam gulped suddenly and stopped speaking, and this was because. . . .

The aura emanating from Eris was terrifying to say the least.

The air around her vibrated intensely at the rhythm of her anger— sparking. She spoke in a grave voice. "You belong to me! And only to me! Who ever comes near you, I will give . . . a glorious death."

Her beautiful face distorted sinisterly as she spoke, so much so that if any unprepared person saw her expression right now . . .

The would simply run away in fear.

A dreadful pressure began to spread for Eris as the marble floor caved in. Adam backed way— terrified.

No longer able to hold herself back, Eris let her powers run amok.

[BAANG]

The surrounding shelves broke apart and a web of spider cracks spread across the durable obsidian walls from the godly force Eris was exerting in her rage.

"No one touches you! Should anyone defy my will-"

Eris's chaos power began spread in the chamber. Everything that touched the broiling deep voilet energy was immediately reduced to nothing.

"It seems she's going to kill you. Serves you right." Lena chided coldly from inside his ring. Adam couldn't be bothered with her right now.

"Eris! You forget yourself!" Hearing Adam's voice, most of her palpable killing intent faded and the chaos power radiating from her weakened considerably.

Eris bit her lip in frustration while she reigned in her voilent urges. She was struggling

. . .having some kind of internal battle.

That much was evident. And as the madness left her eyes,it seemed for today, clarity had won.

She finally spoke with some hoarseness in her voice. "You know what I feel for you. And you saw what I became just now. I don't ever want to lose you. And I don't want to have to kill someone!" As Eris regained control of herself, the atmosphere of the room slowly returned to how it had been before.

As she spoke, she looked for any traces of terror within Adam's eyes. She was surpised to find that there was none.
