Chapter 7 - Eris

"What a creep."

"What did you say?"

"Nothing. . ."

Dionis and Basil led Adam through the dining pavilions and amphitheatres as they showed him how to perform his duties. They showed him the best routes to take. The places within the palace that should be avoided at all costs, and where even he as a servant could meet his needs.

Soon the reached the inner place. Like a paradise filled several grand golden residences, Adam was almost lost in the splendor of it all. Everyday the Servant's were required to journey here from their quarters and clean all of the divine palaces.

Naturally, this had become Adam's job as well.

Amd after what Dionis and Basil had told him, this demeaning task had transformed into a remarkable opportunity.

"Brothers, I urgently need to tend to a personal matter. Would you please fill in for me while I'm gone?

I promise to repay this favor tenfold."

Adam asked. Fortunately Basil and Dionis responded with a smile.

"Worry not brother! You can go deal with whatever requires your immediate attention. We can continue your orientation at another time."

The duo had agreed without any hesitation, but they still found it strange that a new servant would immediately shirk his duties on his first day so he could go do something else.

Maybe whatever demanded his attention was a matter of grave importance.

"Many thanks!"

Without wasting another moment, Adam separated from Dionis and Basil and then disappeared Into the crowds of scurrying servants.

The time for cleaning had not yet passed, and many servants were still flitting in and out of the various divine palaces, so no one paid Adam any undue attention.

However, as he neared his destination, the number of seevants slowly decreased, so Adam had to take the darker, more concealed paths to avoid bring noticed.

And then at some point, he stopped completely, hiding within the shadow of a pillar. He waited patiently until the opportunity he was searching for came.

A lone servant was gradually approaching. He was frail— weakened with age, and headed in the same direction as Adam.

Adam's pupils constricted with focus, and then, with no more substance than a mere ghost, his hand swiped over the old man's robes as he passed him by.

The old servant only felt a slight breeze, failing to notice that the jewel that was always clipped onto his belt had disappeared into the young man's hands.

"No hard feelings right?"

Adam then appraised the jewl he had stolen. Outwardly, it was a pitch black pearl, however within it several minute stars shone and swirled like a miniature galaxy.

"Tsk-Tsk, the things guys have to do to get laid."

He sighed whiles shaking his head.

"It wont be long now, Eris. I hope you are ready for me!"

"I see your plan now. Eris is indeed the most suitable target as of now. But I must warn you that she is the object of her father's mad obsession. You may face consequences you are ill prepared to face if you insist on having her."

As always, Lena's cold logic drained away all his enthusiasm. The smile immediately left his face, and his eyebrow began to twitch ever so faintly. But after taking a deep breath Adam replied.

"No action I carry out in this world is without risks. But do not fret, I'm entirely confident that she will not expose me."

"Oh, and what is your so-called confidence based on?"

"My understanding of women.

A cold robotic entity like you naturally would not be able to understand."

For the first time in forever, Lena was stumped by his words. Adam continued on his journey while adopting the gait of a lowly servant until he'd arrived infront a strange dark onyx palace. At the palace gates, two armored guards stood.

"State your intent!"

"I have been sent to deliver a jewel to the goddess in place of her old servant."

"Proof of your identity?"

Adam immediately unveiled the dark pearl he had stolen from the old servant. The gaurds inspected it briefly before giving Adam an imperceptible nod, then they opened the gates and let him I'm.

"The goddess is in a sour mood today. Hurry in."

"Yes, my lords."

Adam kept his tone respectful, maintaining a humble posture as he entered the divine palace.

Only a single path lay before him, one that led to a grand obsidian tower situated in the center of the palace. There were several other grand structures in the vicinity, but Adam intuitively knew the tower was the only place she could be.

After taking the central path, he reached the tower in about a quarter hour. And after climbing upwards for who knows how long, he finally happened onto a dark oak door.

Adam opened it to reveal a dimly lit room. The room was simple and plain, not befitting an exalted goddess in the slightest.

Not that it would have mattered, for even with the finest adornments the room could never match the beauty of its occupant.

When Eris turned to face him, Adam fell into a daze.

She was a beauty that truly surpassed the moon and stars. Her silky jet black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall.

Deep voilet eyes were fixed onto Adam's body with an intensity that almost caused him to look away.

But beyond the beauty of her face, her body was also remarkable work of art.

From her dainty, sparkling ankles to her thick white thighs spilling out the slit of her black gown to her massive, heaving breast;

Every feature of hers was infused with a sultry charm.

All the beauties Adam had seen back on earth were simply eyesores compared to her.

"She is a dangerous one."

Adam realised belatedly. He could feel the divinity and power she radiated with his own body.

It was an aura so powerful that his skin was beginning to crawl.

"Most of her power is currently sealed, but she remains strong enough to reduce you to atoms with a mere thought. I advice great caution, my lord."

Lena warned.

But as if he'd heard none of what she said, Adam brusquely stepped forward with a cocky grin and said.

"It's always my pleasure to make the acquaintance of a goddess so beautiful. If I may ask, why is my goddess in such a foul mood?"

Eris didn't respond immediately, and Adam did not rush to fill the silence. Eris only stared into his eyes as he stared into hers.

A moment passed them by like this before she finally spoke.

"Daring to trespass into the realm of the gods. . .impersonating my subordinate. Do you wish to die that badly?."

Her voice was cold and ruthless, and it told Adam that she would not hesitate to end him of he took a single step out of line. But he did not hesitate or shrink back.

"Careful now." He said as he casually sat a few paces beside her and twirled the dark pearl he had stolen between his fingers. "Or you may lose your only chance to escape this wretched place."

"How did that end up in your hands?"

"It's known to everyone, that in recent times the only person you allowed into your chambers was an old and wise nature spirt who once served as a mentor to you.

I assumed you would have given him something to prove his identity to your gaurds each time he sought you out.

I was right

Then it was only the simple matter of stealing it from him without alerting him to my presence."

"Is that so? Well, you've gotten what you wanted. You have my attention. So speak.

And I hope for your sake, your words do not disappoint me."

He was clearly much weaker than her, and yet he showed no fear or trepidation in her presence. Since becoming a fully realized goddess, she had not known anyone capable of that— mortal or immortal. .

"I have a way to remove your curse mark and unseal your power."

After not getting enough sleep last night, Adam stretched and yawned before collapsing dramatically on Eris's sheets.

But she paid not attention to his rude display.

For what he'd said was far too shocking, far too impossible. A hope she did not dare to have.

"What did you just say?"

"Your curse mark..it can be removed. And the method isn't even difficult."

"You. . you dare mock-"

"Calm down. I do not have a death wish. What do I have to gain from deceiving you if you're able kill me whenever you wish?"

He was right of course. Eris knew that. But his words we're simply too laughable and foolish.

She scoffed. "Do you know the origin of my cursemark?".

"It was placed into you by your father Zeus with the help of Hecate, the goddess of dark magic.

The mark itself lies on your solar plexus and runs through your five viscera, every major blood vessel, and every muscle fiber within your body."
