Chapter 34 - Episode 33

When evening came, the first whistle of the Lacrosse match blew. The plan was clear: Allison would somehow get the key and give it to Stiles.

Sean and Melissa were watching the match side by side. Melissa was complaining about why Sean wasn't playing. The game was quite violent; the opposing team was playing dirty.

Allison saw that she was wearing Gerard's jacket and successfully handed the key to Stiles. As Sean stood up, about to leave, Melissa grabbed him. "Where are you going, Sean?"

Before Sean could make up an excuse, Coach Finstock spotted him standing up. Due to back-to-back injuries during the match, they were one man short. He needed to find a replacement immediately. At that moment, he remembered Sean from the climbing practice.

"Sean! Get over here right now! Our new player is Sean!" Coach Finstock shouted to the referee beside him.

For a moment, Sean looked in shock at his mother, then the coach, and finally at Scott in the distance. Scott felt a wave of inward relief.

Before Sean could speak, Melissa pushed him forward. "If you don't play today, I'll literally cry, Sean," she threatened.

Sean sighed and nodded. He approached Coach Finstock, put on the gear, grabbed the lacrosse stick, and stepped onto the field.

After Sean took his position, the whistle blew. An opposing player knocked down the man in front of him and sprinted at full speed toward Sean. At that moment, Sean was looking in the direction where Stiles had gone.

Alerted by the shouts from the stands, he turned his gaze to the player charging at him, ready to shoulder-check him. The entire crowd was on its feet because Sean seemed distracted and would surely be injured upon impact.

Sean looked at the incoming player. With a slight, fluid movement, he slipped past the shoulder-check and scooped the ball out of the opponent's stick with surgical precision.

As the opposing player tumbled to the ground, Sean had already begun to run with the ball in his stick.

The crowd erupted in cheers. What kind of reflex and movement was that?! Scott looked at Sean in amazement. Jackson's mouth was hanging wide open. Coach Finstock was frozen in shock.

Meanwhile, Sean was running. He slipped between two opposing players who charged at him. The field ahead of him seemed wide open, as if he were simply walking across flat terrain. The stands were in a frenzy. Coach Finstock was screaming at the top of his lungs.

Sean looked at the goal, focused on a spot, took one step, then another, leapt, turned sideways in mid-air, and fired the ball. The ball entered the opponent's net at high speed.

Everyone cheered, and a frantic chant began. Sean's name was echoing throughout the stadium.

Sean felt his helmet itching and as he fiddled with it, he whispered, "Why did they get so excited?"

When Scott and the others approached and heard this, they froze in their tracks. You're literally insulting this incredible goal!!

After that, the entire game turned into Sean's personal show. Only at the very end did Sean intentionally pass the ball to Scott. That turned out to be the biggest mistake. The opposing player who shoulder-checked Scott sent him flying. The sound of a snapping bone was heard from Scott's leg.

Sean's vision blurred with rage. He saw the opposing player celebrating. He walked toward them with a slow, deliberate pace. His confident stride caught Allison's attention from afar; she knew exactly what he was about to do, but she rushed to Scott's side first.

"What about the book?" Scott asked.

"Stiles went to check," Allison replied. "Just focus on healing. And..." Before she could finish her sentence, a loud sound rang out.

BOOM!!

The player who had just injured Scott was sent flying through the air and slammed into a nearby pole.

Everyone's attention shifted there. Sean was holding the player's helmet in one hand and slamming it against the helmet of the other celebrating player.

Sean's teammates rushed to stop him. Before they could reach him, the referee moved in to intervene, but Sean grabbed his hand and pulled him down. He pinned him to the ground by his neck. "Don't interfere," he said, his voice overflowing with anger.

Eventually, Jackson grabbed him and slowly pulled him back. Sean looked at Jackson. "What do you think you're doing?"

"We don't want to get disqualified," Jackson said firmly.

Sean thought for a moment and finally gave in. "Fine," he said, and the crowd parted for him as he walked toward Scott.

When Sean reached Scott, he leaned down slightly. "How are you?"

Scott indicated that he was already healing.

At that moment, Gerard approached them. "Hey, why don't you stars of the match come with me?"

A while later, at the Argent residence, Chris and Victoria were preparing dinner. Hearing the door, Chris called out, "Hey, you're just in time! How was the match?"

Gerard and Allison entered first. "Why don't you ask the stars of the match?" Gerard said. Then, Scott walked through the door. Chris and Victoria looked at him in shock. But when they saw the next person following right behind, they froze.

As Sean walked in, he smirked and said, "Oho... Aunt Victoria and the veteran hunter. It's been a long time."

The table was set, and everyone was focused on their food. There was an absolute silence. Suddenly, Gerard pointed at Scott and Allison. "So... why did you two break up?" he asked curiously.

"Well... actually, Allison dumped me," Scott said.

The fork in Allison's hand stopped. Chris and Victoria looked at Scott momentarily. Even Sean turned his head and looked at Scott, as if saying, 'Seriously?'

"I think..." Chris started, "isn't it possible that Allison felt the distance growing between you, Scott?"

"Wow," Gerard remarked, "a father's opinion can actually be impartial. How do we know they aren't like Romeo and Juliet?"

"Romeo and Juliet committed suicide," Chris replied.

The atmosphere in the room shifted completely. Sean smiled. "Actually, wouldn't it be better to change the subject?"

Victoria looked at Sean as if he were a savior. "Yes, I think so too."

Sean shot a subtle glance at Chris and gestured toward Scott, as if asking Chris to inform him about something. Chris nodded. "Scott, would you help me bring in the dessert?"

Scott agreed, and as the two of them went to the kitchen, Gerard looked at Sean. "What do you think, Sean? About your brother and Allison?"

Sean set his fork down on the table. "Actually, I think the relationship between them is good. Looking at the situation before and after the breakup, it doesn't seem like both sides are suffering, does it? Aunt Victoria would understand this better. After all, she's a mother and knows the situation at home best. I mean, instead of forcing them apart, letting things take their course might prevent future disasters." He gave a long speech.

Those at the table fell silent and pondered. Meanwhile, Chris and Scott returned with dessert plates. After Scott sat down, Allison said, "Actually, Scott and I need to work together; he has the English notes," and slowly rose from her chair. When Chris objected, Gerard spoke up. "Actually, I should be the old-fashioned one here. But I think there's some truth in what Sean said."

Sean smiled and poured himself some wine from the bottle in front of Gerard. Gerard looked at him and smiled. "Do you like alcohol?"

------

Meanwhile, at the school pool, Derek and Stiles were in a dire situation. Caught off guard, Derek had been paralyzed by the monster's venom. He couldn't move much and was struggling against the toxin. "Stiles, call Sean and Scott, quick!" Derek shouted. As Stiles reached for his phone, Derek fell into the pool. He cursed Stiles as he went down.

Stiles looked at his phone and then at Derek. He jumped into the pool and, as he pulled Derek to the surface, he shouted, "Do you see anything?"

Derek looked around. "No."

"Do you think it might be gone?" Stiles asked.

BOOM!!

"I'm guessing no," Derek replied.

After slowly sipping the wine he had poured, Sean spoke. "Yes, I like it. Actually, I haven't drank much lately. A lot of things happened. By the way, Principal Gerard... do you know what a hemicorporectomy is?"

Sean's final sentence changed the entire atmosphere at the table.

Gerard and Sean locked eyes. Chris and Victoria looked at Sean in shock. Chris suddenly remembered the incident from that day, and his eyes widened.
