Chapter 9 - Daemon

"Wow, darling, you're all solid muscle!"

Although an unexpected situation arose, the Enchanted Warrior showed no panic; instead, he grew excited.

He had initially wanted to flee because the Enchanted Warrior believed he couldn't find pleasurable stimulation in front of these False Emperor's lackeys.

But now, it was different.

Through the special perception granted by the possessing daemon, even with the Black Robe's obstruction, he could still sense the full, almost perfect physique beneath the clothing.

A Custodian... appearing alone, and not even wearing Power Armor?

This opportunity was simply once in a lifetime. As a Slaanesh worshipper, the Enchanted Warrior immediately cast everything aside, including the incessant chattering of the Warp Daemon in his ear.

"If I can leave a scar on him and taste the pain he feels... then even death would be worth the price!"

He fanatically raised his power sword, which began to glow with a purple aura. The Power Armor, covered in twisting, writhing patterns, hummed, and fleshy tentacles extending from its various gaps danced wildly, a truly blasphemous sight.

The Custodian coldly watched the traitor opposite him, his eyes filled with disdain.

The Enchanted Warrior stomped suddenly, with such force that the alloy floor groaned under the strain, sending dozens of metal fragments flying, while also generating a powerful recoil.

Lightning-fast, he raised his sword, pulled it back, charged, then thrust—a fluid, direct lunge that instantly appeared before the Custodian.

Their gazes met, and in the Enchanted Warrior's pupils, the Custodian's face was reflected, calm as water, unperturbed.

Facing this full-force lunge, the Custodian shifted his stance, stepping back as if without inertia, while slightly turning his body.

His dodging speed and timing were completely beyond the Enchanted Warrior's expectations!

How could it be... so fast?

He watched helplessly as his sword strike missed, merely passing through the Black Robe billowing high around the Custodian, leaving a hole.

The next moment, a phantom-like, fleeting slash struck, piercing through the Enchanted Warrior's arm armor and severing it directly.

Blood spurted from his wrist, and the power sword clanged to the ground.

Immediately after, the Custodian delivered a decisive front kick, sending the Enchanted Warrior flying.

Boom!

The Enchanted Warrior's body, like a cannonball, slammed heavily into a ceramite wall, swaying as he coughed up a large mouthful of blood.

He looked up and saw the Custodian, power sword in hand, walking towards him step by step.

Yes, yes, just like this!

The Warp Daemon possessing the Chaos Space Marine felt that if it had human organs, it would be crying tears of joy.

It finally suppressed the heavily injured, idiotic host, seized control of the body, and struggled to get up by leaning on the wall, preparing to provoke the Custodian, then offer its neck for slaughter and return to the Warp... Then, a plasma bolt that whizzed past the Custodian shattered its fantasy.

"No!!!!"

A cry of unwilling and profound fear became the Warp Daemon's last words in this world.

The Custodian slowly turned his head.

In his line of sight, the mysterious young man emerged from the corner of a nearby corridor, a wisp of blue smoke rising from the plasma weapon by his side.

Adam, slightly embarrassed after snatching someone else's kill, proactively greeted him:

"Hello, my name is Adam. How should I address you?"

The Custodian did not answer the question.

He scrutinized Adam from head to toe, then asked:

"Who are you? Where are you from? What was that power you just used? It caused such phenomena yet showed no Warp fluctuations. What was it?"

Adam sighed.

Indeed, his Reality Warping Ability, once seen by experienced Imperial warriors, would immediately be noticed as unusual.

Moreover, he hadn't expected this ordinary lunar cruiser to gather so many experts!

The Psyker was one thing, but how was there an Imperial Guard Elite on this ship?

Emprah, was this also part of your plan?

"There's no time for explanations now."

The various firearms at Adam's side voluntarily lowered their muzzles, indicating he had no ill intent. "Can we wait until we've regrouped?"

After weighing the pros and cons, the Custodian also sheathed his sword.

"...You're right, the threat of Chaos is far from over."

He paused, then continued: "My full name is quite long; you can simply call me Leonardo."

I understand, I understand, after all, he's a Custodian.

Adam nodded.

Soon, the two walked together, passing through the corridor and returning along the path they came.

In the corridor, seeing the twisted and tragic state of various heretic corpses along the way, Leonardo's brows gradually furrowed.

Of course, he couldn't sympathize with the deaths of these heretics. For the Emperor's Custodian Guard, who swore to defend the Imperial Palace, the faster and more miserably these traitors to the Imperium died, the happier Leonardo was.

However, the main issue was that, apart from some killed by plasma and melta weapons, all these heretics had clearly died at the hands of a Psyker, their bodies covered in marks of psychic lightning and telekinetic distortion.

That Psyker Inquisitor had continuously unleashed two Warp jumps in a short time, yet was still using her psychic powers so recklessly. Could she really endure it?

With this faint worry, the two returned to their original position.

The sight before them made Adam and Leonardo pause slightly.

Sibylla was kneeling on the ground, her hands clamped tightly over her ears, her expression at times painfully twisted, at times blank and dazed.

Standing before her, leaning on her sword, was Lucia.

Lucia's eyes glowed golden, her pure white wings spread on her back, and her entire body emitted a faint golden holy light, completely enveloping Sibylla's form below, barely suppressing the constantly swirling psychic glow around the latter.

"What happened?"

"She's not doing well."

Lucia turned her head to look at the approaching duo, shaking her head. "Unrestrained use of psychic power beyond her limits in a short time has allowed the tides of the Warp to seize her mind."

"Now she's powerless to control the surging psychic energy. It's hard to say if she can recover."

Leonardo also took a few steps forward and observed the Inquisitor's condition.

"She won't recover. Unless she's immediately sent into a Black Ship's Null Chamber to completely suppress her psychic powers, there's only a slight chance of saving her. But we currently have neither the conditions nor the time or leeway for that."

As a former Black Ship escort, he regretfully delivered his verdict: "Execute her. May her soul return to the Throne."
