Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The classic Warrior-Mage-Priest combination?

Seeing this, the man, who had been full of vigilance, turned to an expression of speechlessness. Indeed, if it were a sneak attack, no one would use a headbutt to attack someone, right?

There's a saying in the Ancient Eastern Kingdom about 'waiting by the stump for a rabbit,' but this was the first time he'd heard of 'waiting by the stump for a Catgirl.'

The young girl continued, "Although I don't know what's going on, she should need help right now, shouldn't she?"

As she spoke, a soft green light glowed in the young girl's hand. She took a step forward, seemingly wanting to help heal the Catgirl who had just crashed into the tree, but before she could, Cipher woke up.

Rubbing her head, she slowly sat up. If it had been an ordinary person, that impact might have killed them on the spot, but she only felt a bit dizzy.

Then, Cipher finally noticed the three people in front of her:

A tall man, wearing heavy plate armor and carrying a huge double-bladed axe on his back.

A young man in a blue mage robe, holding a staff almost as tall as himself.

And standing directly in front of her, a young girl in leather armor with short golden hair as bright as sunlight.

It had to be said, the characteristics of these three people were too obvious. The first person was clearly a 'Warrior,' the second was clearly a 'Mage,' and as for the last golden-haired young girl, the green light glowing in her hand was enough to know she was a 'Cleric,' right?

Isn't this the classic 'Warrior-Mage-Cleric' iron triangle? The most common combination in RPG games. So, she had transmigrated into a Western fantasy-style world of swords and magic?

Seeing Cipher stand up, supporting her forehead, the golden-haired young girl immediately showed a surprised expression, "You're okay!?"

What came out of her mouth was Chinese with a slight accent. Cipher paused for a moment, then said, "I should be fine..."

Although she didn't quite understand why people from another world spoke Chinese, it was definitely a good thing for her, saving her from facing language barriers.

Then, this golden-haired young girl seemed to open a floodgate, talking non-stop, "You just whooshed past, so fast! How did you do that?"

"Are you Catfolk? It's my first time seeing Catfolk!"

"What's your name? Oh right, my name is Ailiya, I'm a Paladin professional, and also a probationary Hero! Nanan, are you a professional too? What's your profession?"

The information she revealed was a bit much. Cipher paused for a while before successfully understanding the situation. She looked at the young girl named Ailiya in front of her and only then noticed a longsword hanging at her waist. This meant her initial guess was wrong; the other party wasn't a Cleric, but a Paladin?

A Paladin, also known as a Paladin, is a melee profession that can use special spells, such as healing spells, the invincible Holy Strike, and various aura skills. They can cover the front line, melee damage dealer, and even healer roles in a team.

Of course, this knowledge was something Cipher knew from the 'Dungeons & Dragons (DND)' tabletop game and the 'Baldur's Gate 3' game of the year in her previous life, so it wasn't necessarily accurate.

She thought for a moment and said, "You can call me Cipher. I'm a thief professional."

Since she was starting a new life, she naturally had to use a new name. As for the thief profession, that was, of course, something she made up on the spot. According to the 'DND' settings, the most suitable profession for her current identity would definitely be [Rogue · thief].

"A thief?" Ailiya showed an excited expression, "Nanan, Cipher, do you want to join our Hero Squad? We just happen to be missing a thief professional!"

At this moment, the young man in the mage robe frowned and said, "Ailiya, why do you invite everyone you meet to join the team? How do you know if she's a good person or a bad person? What about her strength? What if her strength isn't enough, and moving with us would only drag us down?"

Ailiya, however, said, "But I feel like Sister Cipher doesn't look like a bad person? And as for strength, she ran so fast just now, she's clearly super amazing! No problem!"

Hearing this, the corner of the mage-robed young man's mouth twitched slightly. How could one judge a person's character based on a feeling? And while Cipher ran fast just now, a normal person wouldn't run into a tree while running!

At this moment, the tall man in plate armor said loudly, "Judging whether someone is a good person isn't simple? Have you forgotten that I can use divine magic?"

Then he took a step forward and bowed slightly to Cipher, "Beautiful Miss Cipher, you can call me Douglas. Do you mind if I use a divine spell of Detect Evil and Good on you?"

A divine spell of Detect Evil and Good? Cipher raised an eyebrow. So this guy, whom she had initially taken for a Warrior, turned out to be a Cleric?

She nodded and replied, "You may."

Having received permission, Douglas raised his right hand. On his wrist was a very exquisite metal pendant in the shape of crossed sword and shield. Douglas showed a devout expression and whispered, "Invincible war god, please discern the essence of the person before me!"

The next second, a faint golden light emanated from the pendant, circling around Cipher as if scanning her. After circling Cipher once, the light gathered above her head, showing no change; it remained its golden self.

Seeing this, Douglas himself couldn't help but be stunned for a moment. Then he bowed again, "You haven't killed anyone. You are truly a kind person, Miss Cipher."

Isn't that just pure nonsense? Cipher was just an ordinary person in her previous life; she hadn't even killed a chicken, let alone a human. As for this life, there's even less to say; she had just 'been born'!

Seeing this, Ailiya immediately stepped forward and grabbed Cipher's hands, blinking her beautiful emerald-like eyes, "Sister Cipher, you are a good person, and we are all good people, so please join our team, okay!"

"This..." Cipher couldn't help but take a step back, but Ailiya immediately followed with another step. The two were very close at this moment. Looking at the young girl's face so close, she couldn't help but turn her head slightly, silently sighing in her heart, 'This child... is so cute~'

She thought for a moment, then finally nodded, "Alright... I guess. I don't really have anything else to do right now anyway."

This was only one reason. Another reason was what Ailiya had said earlier: they seemed to be a Hero Squad? This sounded like the 'protagonist group' that was destined to experience all sorts of exciting adventures!

She knew that the condition for her system to unlock the next persona was 'increasing notoriety'! Clearly, following the 'protagonist group' on adventures wasn't the best way to gain fame!

Besides, she had already had enough of the mediocrity of her previous life. Now that she had such an 'interesting' invitation, how could she refuse?

...PS: Detect Evil and Good (1st-level divine spell): Consumes one point of grace to detect the target. If the target has killed someone, the more people killed, the redder the light will become.

PS2: The protagonist in her previous life was an [actress] who graduated from film school. She tried hard at first but had no connections or background. After repeatedly hitting walls in the entertainment industry, she chose to slack off at home, living off the large insurance payout her parents left after their accident.
