Chapter 357 - Northern Forest Exploration: Alrain's Mass Extermination, Arion's Deal

Alrain, who was now standing in front of the gaping dark cave mouth, immediately stepped into the cave without hesitation.

His goal was only one: he wanted to immediately destroy the cave completely so that the mission given by his husband would be completed perfectly, and he could return to inspecting the forest area in the northern part of the capital.

Unlike his first arrival earlier, this time Alrain no longer spread his wind magic particles as 'eyes' within the pitch-black cave. Instead, he enveloped the entire surface of his body with the glow of lightning magic.

With the light from the lightning magic enveloping his body, the absolute darkness around him was instantly banished. He could see very clearly every inch of the cave corridor he entered, from the damp stone walls to the tapering ceiling.

Armed with that illumination, Alrain freely darted along the depths of the cave corridor, which was no longer in a state of pitch-black darkness.

It did not take long for the youth to arrive at the extremely spacious underground chamber at the end of the cave, the place where dozens of larvae of the giant monsters nested.

Alrain slowed his pace, then walked closer to the holes on the cave walls and looked at them from a very close distance.

Inside each hole, larvae the size of an adult human's arm could be seen squirming slowly. They had not yet fully developed, but the instinct of ferocious monsters could already be felt from their fragile bodies.

"Forgive me." Alrain whispered softly, his voice sounding flat yet implying firmness as he stared at the several larvae in front of him. "I'm forced to kill all of you right now for the safety of this forest, which is quite close to the capital. If you are left just like that, you will only become a disaster for many people."

After uttering that apology, Alrain retreated a few meters. He established a proper distance from all the holes containing the larvae so that his attack area would be optimal.

The youth stood upright, raised his right hand parallel to his chest, and closed his eyes for a moment. He focused the flow of his mana to initiate the mass extermination of all the progenitors of the terrifying venomous monsters around him.

Bzzz... Crackle-crackle...

Right above his palm, a large-scale vortex of lightning magic formed, continuously striking ferociously.

Alrain's eyes opened. He aimed his hand straight ahead toward the expanse of the holed walls.

Crackt!

Instantly, blinding flashes of lightning struck simultaneously. The high-voltage electrical currents darted like whips of light and directly hit the larvae residing in the holes on the cave walls.

One by one, the larvae hit by his lightning strikes died instantly, scorched and burned, turning into charcoal before they could even react to the extremely intense heat.

The mass extermination process continued mercilessly. The lightning strikes danced around, bombarding all the holes in the cave walls until not a single larva inside the cave was left alive.

Realizing that there were no more movements from all those larvae, Alrain stepped forward, approaching the holes on the cave walls. He did this merely to personally ensure that not a single larva was still alive or had escaped his attack.

He checked everything very meticulously, examining from end to end. Not a single hole escaped his inspection.

After confirming that all the larvae were dead, Alrain walked away from the end of the cave, heading toward the exit corridor. As he stepped backward, he prepared his mana to activate large-scale destructive magic to level the cave to the ground.

Alrain reactivated his lightning magic, this time focusing all of its destructive power upward.

Crackt!

The lightning bolts immediately struck in rapid succession and blindly toward the rocky cave ceiling.

Crack! Bang! Bang! Bang!

As soon as the barrage of lightning strikes hit the supporting structure on the cave ceiling, the hard rocks instantly cracked, shattered, and crumbled downward, creating loud, deafening thuds that echoed intensely.

Seeing the giant rocks starting to collapse onto the main nest area, Alrain did not stop his magic in the slightest. He continued shooting his lightning flashes endlessly, striking the cave ceiling along his path.

He slowly retreated toward the corridor leading out, while continuously shooting his lightning magic to destroy the corridor ceiling above him.

The collapsing rocks from the ceiling fell with a terrifying rumble, immediately covering and burying the cave corridor below it in succession.

With this, the cave that might be used as a disgusting ritual site in the future has been completely destroyed. Alrain thought in satisfaction as he stared at the rocks collapsing and piling up in front of him. I truly hope that no more innocent people will become victims of that mad prince's rituals in my current life.

The youth continued moving quickly outward, traversing the remainder of the cave corridor. Behind him, rocks continued to collapse like a domino effect, hitting the cave floor and burying everything permanently.

Meanwhile, a dozen meters away in the outside area right in front of the cave, Davin, Arion, and the seven adventurers were standing in a group waiting for Alrain's arrival.

While they were waiting for the green-haired youth's figure, a series of incredibly loud thuds from inside the cave suddenly rumbled, followed by small tremors that made the ground beneath their feet feel as if it were swaying.

"Is he currently destroying the cave from the inside?" Bren asked to confirm, his eyes staring in awe at the source of the vibrations.

"Yes!" Davin answered in a very calm tone, unaffected by the ground tremors. "If that cave is not completely destroyed and the larvae are left alone without being exterminated, the emergence of a swarm of Giant Wasp monsters will definitely happen again in a few months. That will turn this forest into an extremely dangerous zone to enter."

Hearing that logical explanation and careful prevention, the group of adventurers nodded in understanding.

"Then... are the three of you willing to be our witnesses if the guild requires an official report regarding this incident in the northern forest?" Dennis interjected suddenly, looking at Davin with full hope.

"Of course we are willing!" Davin answered without the slightest hesitation, feeling that it was not a bothersome request. "Arion will also show them all the evidence of the monster carcasses that Alrain killed earlier so that your report will be valid."

"Yes, I will definitely show those monster bodies to them if asked!" Arion chimed in, trying to assure the seven adventurers while patting the magic bag at his waist. "But remember, I will never hand over even a single one of those monsters to the guild, even if they desperately want them or offer a high price."

Dennis was instantly astounded by what he had just heard from the sweet youth. He completely did not expect such a blatant refusal regarding the rare monster bodies to be expressed, which was, of course, entirely the right of the material owner.

"Of course!" Dennis replied quickly, trying not to offend. "It's your right to hand them over to the guild or keep them for yourselves. Neither we nor the guild have any authority whatsoever over those materials. We only need your presence as witnesses to help facilitate our report to the guild."

The explanation coming from the man's mouth made Arion smiled in satisfaction.

"Okay, we have a deal!"
