Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Serial killer’s

"No! If this mission succeeds, I must find a way to earn back this capital from somewhere else!"

York made up his mind, while simultaneously extending his magic to Jessie's eyes. In her vision, she could see crimson magic flowing from his hands… "The Lord has granted my request, allowing you to see through the darkness…" Using the innocent Lord as an excuse for his actions, York withdrew his hand and said brazenly.

"Can you see now?"

"What?"

Jessie didn't quite understand what the priest in front of her was saying. She instinctively blinked.

The next second, something incredible happened. She felt as if the darkness before her was being dispelled—one meter, two meters, three meters—she suddenly saw clearly… "Incredible!!!!"

Jessie covered her mouth, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"It seems you can see clearly now," York said calmly, reverting to his usual demeanor.

"There's nothing incredible about it. This is a miracle from the Lord. The Lord exists…"

Jessie nodded blankly. What was happening now completely challenged her past worldview and understanding.

"Let's go! Following the Lord's will, we must eliminate these damned Serial killers."

Hearing this, Jessie looked at the increasingly clear priest in her vision and nodded dazedly.

Being able to see the path and not being able to see it were not proportional. Jessie didn't know what got into her, but she became exceptionally clear-headed, completely different from her previous self. While leading the way, she could also point out the Serial killer's traps.

"Father, this is a bear trap set by the Serial killer. Carly's foot was injured by this trap."

York leaned closer to look. There were indeed some remnants on the bear trap: a large piece of cloth and bloodstains.

"So this is where Chris led the Serial killer away?"

As York spoke, he instinctively glanced around. As far as his eyes could see, there were still trees, but some areas of the ground had faint, disordered footprints.

"Yes."

Jessie's eyes showed a sad expression as she nodded. "If it weren't for Chris, Carly and I would probably have already…"

Today could be said to be the biggest nightmare of her life. Because there was news of a beautiful large lake here, she excitedly came camping with her friends. The result… she saw her friends being killed, experienced being hunted by the Serial killer, and finally blundered into the Serial killer's lair, even witnessing how the Serial killer dismembered her friends… In the end, only she and Carly were left.

York withdrew his gaze and glanced at her, ignoring her and continuing to follow the footprints.

"Keep going!"

"Alright…"

Hearing this, Jessie quickly put away her sadness, followed her source of security, and continued to lead the way.

With footprints and a known direction, their pace was quick. They went deeper and deeper, and soon reached a new place.

A very beautiful large lake. Without the cover of the dense forest, the not-so-bright moonlight was refracted, reflecting in their eyes.

The scene was beautiful, but York had no intention of admiring it. He looked at an open space by the lake where several broken tents were set up, and there were some bloodstains nearby.

"This was your camping spot?"

Jessie remained silent and nodded.

Seeing this, York didn't know how to express himself. This place was already quite deep, and without signal, if something happened, there would be no one to call for help.

"Which direction did you run in?" York put away his thoughts and said calmly.

Jessie obediently pointed to the right.

York walked ahead. He no longer regretted his choice; the dense forest in the dark night was indeed not an easy place to explore. If it weren't for Jessie leading the way, it would have been impossible to find this place so quickly.

Taking Jessie with him, York walked to a place where he could find some things. With his magic-covered eyes, he easily saw some flesh and blood hanging from a large tree and a head swaying with the breeze. Its eyes were gouged out, ears cut off, and its tongueless face looked like it died with its eyes open.

Judging by the still very fresh bloodstains, the owner of this head was probably Jessie's friend who died today.

Immediately, York led Jessie, who hadn't yet seen it, in another direction, continuing forward. This was his compassion as a priest.

Such a scene appearing actually meant that the Serial killer's lair was not far away.

At this point, even without Jessie leading the way, York easily found his destination by following the remaining bloodstains and what appeared to be drag marks left by a body.

Before them appeared a large clearing without dense forest. In the center, a small cabin glowed with a bright fire, and the clearing extending from the cabin was filled with abandoned vehicles and broken scrap metal.

Combined, it gave a sense of The Cabin in the Woods being surrounded by modern technology, which made York sigh. These Serial killers indeed had great strength to move all the victims' cars here, considering the distance was not short.

"Father!" Jessie gritted her teeth, gripping the pistol in her hand, and said bitterly, her tone filled with hatred.

"This is the Serial killer's lair!!!"

Hearing this, York nodded indifferently, gripping the Winchester M1897 with its pump already racked, and quietly snuck forward with Jessie.

When they hid in a corner formed by the abandoned cars and scrap metal, York looked at the cabin before him. He smelled a strange odor, but then, he held his breath and whispered to Jessie, who was hiding behind the obstacle.

"Don't speak, just wait quietly."

Jessie licked her dry lips and nodded obediently.

York smiled calmly, with approval in his eyes, then grabbed a large piece of scrap metal nearby and threw it towards the cabin's doorway.

His strength was also great.

The important thing was that he was in the dark and the enemy was in the light. In the dead of night, he also had eyes comparable to night vision. Killing this group of Serial killers, who were still carbon-based life forms, was too simple.

No sooner said than done, the scrap metal, propelled by a gentle force, smashed into the cabin's door. With a bang, the wooden door was directly shattered by the scrap metal.

The commotion was loud, and intense chatter immediately erupted inside the house.

"Ugh!!! Ugh!!!"

"$%&#&am!!!"

"…!"

York didn't understand what the Serial killers inside were saying, but he could generally grasp the meaning.

It was nothing more than, after a fit of rage, who!!! And then grabbing weapons to kill… Sure enough, a few seconds later, two disfigured, grotesque Serial killers, one clutching a blood-stained axe and the other holding a bow and arrow and a small knife, rushed out.

Looking at the seemingly enraged Serial killers, York bared his teeth, muttered an 'Amen,' aimed his gun at the Serial killer's head, and pulled the trigger.

Boom!!!!!

The sudden roar of the gun echoed through the dark sky.

The Serial killer holding the bow and arrow had its head instantly explode like a watermelon, scattering shattered fragments. At the same time, its headless corpse fell straight down before the other Serial killer's bewildered eyes…
