Chapter 8 - The Hunt Begins

Selena woke to Sarah's gentle shake. "Adrian's men are coming." Her voice was low, but Selena's heart pounded – she'd expected this. She jumped up, eyes scanning the safe house, her mind racing with possibilities.

Selena grabbed her bag, adrenaline surging. "We need to move. Now." She felt a sense of urgency, knowing they had to get out before it was too late.

Sarah nodded, phone in hand. "I've booked a flight. Washington, 3 PM." Her voice was calm, but Selena saw the tension in her shoulders.

Selena's gaze snapped to hers. "Lagos? Why?" Her voice was a mix of confusion and fear. She didn't understand why Sarah had chosen Washington, but she trusted her sister's judgment.

Sarah's smile was tight. "Safe contact there. Trust me." Her eyes were serious, and Selena knew she'd have to trust her.

As they drove to the airport, Selena's phone buzzed. Adrian's message flashed: _Where are you?_ His voice was a warning, and she knew she'd have to be careful.

Selena deleted it, gaze hardening. "He's tracking me." Her voice was low, but she knew she'd have to act fast.

Sarah nodded, eyes on the road. "We'll lose them." Her voice was calm, but Selena saw the determination in her eyes.

At the airport, Selena's heart pounded – would they make it? As they boarded, Adrian's men appeared at the gate. Selena's breath caught.

Sarah pulled her close. "Don't look back." Her voice was a whisper, but Selena felt a surge of fear.

The plane took off. Selena exhaled, eyes closing. "We did it." Her voice was a mix of relief and exhaustion.

Sarah smiled, phone buzzing. "Now meet our contact. He's waiting." Her eyes were serious, and Selena knew she'd have to trust her.

In Lagos, the heat hit them like a wall. Selena's contact, Mr. Adam, greeted them warmly. "You're safe here." His voice was calm, but Selena saw the seriousness in his eyes.

Selena's gaze lingered on him – could she trust him? But Sarah nodded, and she knew she'd have to take the risk.

As they drove to a beachside villa, Selena's mind spun – what next? Adrian's voice echoed: "You'll pay." She knew he'd come after her, but she was ready.

Mr. Adam handed her a phone. "New identity. New life." His voice was calm, but Selena saw the determination in his eyes.

Selena's smile was sharp. "I'll start fresh." She felt a surge of excitement, knowing she'd finally be free.

That night, Selena walked the beach, wind whipping her hair. Freedom? She felt like she'd finally found it.

Sarah joined her, eyes on the sea. "Adrian won't stop." Her voice was low, but Selena knew she'd have to be careful.

Selena nodded, gaze hardening. "I'll fight." She felt a surge of determination, knowing she'd never give up.

As waves crashed, Selena's phone buzzed. Adrian's message flashed: _I found you._ His voice was a warning, and she knew she'd have to act fast.

Selena deleted it, smile cold. "He's too late." She felt a surge of confidence, knowing she'd outsmarted him.

The night hung heavy. Selena's heart pounded – she'd won. But at what cost?

Sarah turned to her, eyes serious. "We'll protect you." Her voice was a promise, and Selena knew she'd finally be safe.

Selena nodded, eyes closing. "I trust you." She felt a surge of relief, knowing she'd finally found someone she could trust.

The beach lights twinkled. Selena's war wasn't over. But she'd fight.

Selena spent the next few days in hiding, trying to adjust to her new life. She met with Mr. Adam, who helped her set up a new identity and bank account.

But Adrian's men were still out there, searching for her. Selena knew she'd have to be careful, or they'd find her.

One night, Selena received a message from an unknown number. _Meet me at the old warehouse at midnight._ The message was cryptic, but Selena's gut told her it was important.

She showed the message to Sarah, who nodded. "Let's go." They drove to the warehouse, their hearts pounding with anticipation.

As they arrived, a figure emerged from the shadows. Selena's breath caught – it was Racheal, her sister's friend.

Racheal handed her a folder. "Adrian's plans. Use them." Her voice was low, but Selena's heart pounded – she'd found the key to her freedom.

Selena took the folder, eyes widening. "How did you get this?" Her voice was a mix of surprise and gratitude.

Racheal smiled. "Doesn't matter. Use it." Her eyes were serious, and Selena knew she'd have to trust her.
