He looked at the lightsticks around them, at the woman next to them, and then at the thousands of others in the distance. The shape didn't sit right, and the way the light blinked didn't sync with the rhythm of the rest of the arena.
A cold knot twisted in his gut at the sudden realisation that he had bought the wrong ones, probably a generic version, an older version, or the wrong tour edition entirely.
Flushing with embarrassment, Ryan lowered his hand, the excitement draining from his face as he stared at the wrong glow on his lap.
Liam noticed the change immediately but he didn't look at the lightstick and he didn't point it out. Instead, he bent over slightly catching Ryan's eyes with a reassuring grin, and then lifted the lightstick even higher.
He waved it with the same enthusiasm as the rest of the crowd, like nothing about it seemed strange about it at all.
