"Sorry," Ryan mumbled, adjusting the note in his hand as he jogged a few stiff steps to catch up with Oliver.
Oliver didn't look annoyed, instead he just gave a small observant nod toward the retreating figure of Ethan."Friend of yours?"
"Yeah, my roommate," Ryan replied, his heart still performing a nervous stir against his ribs.
The news that Adrian was Ethan's supervisor felt like a cruel cosmic joke. Up until then, he had held no anticipation toward spending time together with Adrian except during his confession night.
But now, he couldn't help but want to be in Ethan's shoes, being the one observing Adrian's leadership and social skills up close, not hearing about it secondhand through Ethan's camera.
"It's good that you found a familiar face," Oliver said as they began walking. "But you'll have to stay on the ground. If the professor catches people swapping teams or loitering, I'll be a headache for all of us."
