Chapter 47 - goodbye

"Did your sister kill herself?"

Erop typed it bluntly into the group chat.

Hailey froze staring at the message.

"What the fuck are you talking about? Who told you that?"

The others immediately joined in.

"Wait, what?"

"Abdullah man that's actually mad."

"Bro what?"

"Abdullah told me like," Erop replied casually.

Abdullah's stomach dropped.

His fingers instantly started typing.

"I didn't mean to tell him."

But Hailey responded before he could explain himself properly.

"What the hell is wrong with you? Why the hell would you tell him? Like I swear, why are you telling them everything about me?"

"I was trying to defend you," Abdullah replied quickly. "I messed up, alright? I'm sorry. I told him not to tell anyone."

Hailey's typing bubble appeared.

Then disappeared.

Then appeared again.

Abdullah stared at the screen.

A notification popped up.

Screenshot taken.

Then another.

And another.

Abdullah's heartbeat instantly sped up.

"No no no no…"

His stomach twisted violently. His hands started shaking.

Then the screenshots appeared in the group chat.

Messages.

Private messages.

Him talking about feeling empty.

Not mattering.

Wanting to die.

Everything he never wanted anyone seeing.

Abdullah instantly started removing people from the group frantically, barely able to think straight.

But it was too late.

Tomek had already taken screenshots.

Another group chat appeared moments later.

Everyone was added back.

Then Tomek started sending edited pictures.

Pictures of Abdullah.

Screenshots beside them.

Captions making fun of him.

The messages kept appearing one after another.

Abdullah felt sick.

"Tomek please," he typed desperately. "If you give even a single fuck about me, please just delete the screenshots."

"Bro chill," Tomek replied. "I'm not gonna send them to anyone."

"Tomek I swear to God just please delete them."

Silence.

No response.

Then another image appeared.

Nobody stopped him.

Nobody told him to chill out.

Nobody defended Abdullah.

They all just watched.

John finally messaged him privately.

"Bro… are they real?"

Abdullah stared at the message for a long moment before replying.

"No they're not. Don't believe it. She's just mad. You know me John."

"You sure?"

"Yeah."

Another pause.

"Could you just get him to delete the images?"

"Yeah I'll try."

But Abdullah already knew nothing was going to change.

Time passed.

The group chat slowly died down.

Nobody talked anymore.

Nobody checked up on him.

The silence somehow hurt more than the messages did.

Abdullah sat alone in his room staring blankly at the wall while the thoughts ran through his head one after another.

"Nano… Big Nano… I'm sorry I couldn't be good enough for you guys. I'm sorry."

Then Cassie.

"Cassie… I know I promised you but I can't anymore."

Then Sara.

"Sara… I wonder if you knew how much suffering you put me through…"

He stopped.

His chest hurt.

The thoughts kept coming anyway.

He looked around his room slowly.

The same walls.

The same desk.

The same silence.

"They don't care."

The words echoed in his head.

"None of them care."

"If I was gone tomorrow none of them would care."

Abdullah curled further into himself, tears running silently down his face.

"God… what did I do to deserve this? I know I made mistakes but it's just too much for me. I'm sorry. Just please… make everything stop."

But there was no response.

No sign.

Nothing.

Eventually even the crying stopped.

And Abdullah felt something worse than sadness.

Nothing at all.

Completely numb.

Slowly, his eyes drifted across the room.

And landed on the belt laying across his desk.

"the human brain can only last ten seconds without blood before being knocked out and 60 seconds before death"

Abdullah had a good understanding of the human anatomy.

he grabbed his belt and tied it around his neck he felt the cool touch of the metal touch his neck.

he tied one end of the belt around the wooden pole of his bed and tightly fastened it around his neck the pressure already making it hard to breathe.

he dropped down from his bed but his tall height made it so he had to lean forward to get asphyxiated.

Abdullah felt the metal dig sharply into his skin and the carotid arteries constricting.

"it hurts" he thought.

his head felt light as if he was floating and soon he felt his head feel like it would burst.

his last thought

Goodbye...
