Chapter 5 - baba

2017-2018 Abdullahs first class teachers. His first was a tall man, soft, chill and kind not strict. Abdullah liked this teacher but he left halfway through the year. Then there was his second teacher he found her obnoxious irritating and she was strict for a first-class teacher.

But it was only first class academically a minor year for Abdullah. But in the meantime, something bigger was happening at home.

When Abdullah's sister was born a lot of attention was put on the baby. His mother was exhausted at night, she woke up to crying so did Abdullah, it was all a lot to get used to.

A lot of attention was put on the newborn, but Abdullah understood a baby needed more attention than him he learnt to mind his own business he loved his mother, so he tried not to bother her.

One day Abdullah was having a conversation with his mother about grandparents as he was thinking though he realised how come he's only seen mamas' parents what about his dad?

He asked his mother and without thinking it through his mother blurted out a sentence that changed him forever.

"they're not alive anymore"

The words were a lot to process he didn't understand what death was until then but once he understood he realised something. He realised just how terrifying it was.

His dad his brother his sister his mother everyone he knew and himself would die one day.

First, he imagined his grandparents because they were old. Then his own parents then himself, he started crying, bawling loudly tears flowing down his face. Eventually his eyes turned hot, hurting. The tears completely soaking and dripping he asked through the tears.

When did they die. how old was baba when they died. Why did they die, how.

His mother regretted telling him, but it was too late now.

Abdullah learnt the truth that night his father's mom died when he was six and his father's dad died when he was 10 his dad was raised by his older siblings.

Abdullah couldn't believe it. He couldn't imagine losing his parents that young and most days his father didn't even look sad. It felt impossible to him. How he could he not be sad.

It made him see his dad not just as a stern man but as a strong and amazing person who was incredibly tough.

That night when his dad came home, he gives his dad a hug asking him questions while trying to hold his tears in he felt so bad for his father eventually he cried again.

He said to his father "its ok you have me now" his father just hugs him tighter trying to comfort him saying its ok. His father had long overcome the grief.

That night Abdullah lays with his mother in bed and told her that he would rather die before any of his loved ones so he wouldn't have to be sad.

His mother hugs him and tells him "We couldn't handle your death if you died before us" "you're my everything live a long life and a good life, and we'll meet in heaven"

Those words stuck to Abdullah.

From that night onward something changed in Abdullah something either opened from within him or his old self got destroyed and rebuilt.

He decided that he wanted to be good. He wanted to help others. He wanted to make everyone happy. He wanted to make peoples days better. He wanted to make people laugh and smile.

He thought to himself. Maybe then everyone will like me. Maybe then I'll have friends. I just need to be positive. Stop being sad. Don't cry.

With the tears drying on his cheeks from earlier and his eyes hurting he promised to himself he would do it.

He would become a good person for everyone. He would become strong like his
