Chapter 18 - Door of the unknown

PSI sank into the deep cloud. Inside the clouds, there was a vividly seen inventory door deep within them.

He slowly fell into his inventory. PSI's face was full of veins; his blood pressure increased… his heart beating like a drum. His hand shivered as he opened his eyes, which were bleeding blood.

He forced his numb legs and hands as if he were swimming to the next inventory door that was just centimeters away.

Crawling to the door, he finally reached it with his index finger. When his index finger touched the door, it threw PSI out forcibly… as if it were spitting him out of its mouth.

The moment he got out, he didn't realize it. But he was actually setting a trap. When the shadow goblin went down to check on PSI, he used his inventory to appear right behind the light goblin.

He expected it to work, but…

He had already reached his limits in traveling between the doors. That's why this time he made a sound… bleeding as he jumped out, fidgeting…

The light goblin turned around with a light spear. PSI stared as the light goblin sprinted forward, turning mid-run to stab his heart with the spear.

Even if it was for a second, PSI instinctively threw the inventory door right into the goblin's face— not knowing he could actually embody it.

Another mechanism learned.

PSI was fidgeting while noticing that this body was more than just human… while being completely defenseless. The light goblin jumped on him with a light explosion right in his hands.

The light goblin stepped back, jumping and bending forward while outstretching his hand. Two strands of light-bulb explosions formed a ladder that started from the ground to his hand.

The light erupted from the ground and his hand to the sky, all of it absorbed by the light. The goblin slid right in front of him and stabbed PSI with both hands…

While exploding the light ladder.

But it turned out that… his hands were cut off and disappeared.

PSI's new mechanism was that he was actually the true door to his ultimate inventory. Whatever touched his body felt like a ghost—passing through him only to end up in the inventory.

The white goblin's hands were stuck inside as PSI closed the door of his body. It cut off his hands and stored them.

PSI smiled, leaning backward, staring at the sky.

"Unbelievable… unbelievable. I'm unbeatable…"

The light goblin screamed with rage, his hands bleeding blood.

"My divine hands! Haaa—my godly blood! How dare you, human! How dare you, how dare you… my godly haaaandsss!"

PSI didn't care, mesmerized by how he kept going until the last moment… He had stayed fighting for a month—more than a month without a single rest.

PSI screamed like a maniac on adrenaline.

"I fought and fought to the— I fought and fought and fought and fought and fought and fought and fought and fought and fought and fought and fought to finally see I can still fight… even with all the limitations… even with all the pain… with all the dying… with all the blood, with all the tragedy, with all expressionless days…"

"Yes, I am PSI… I walk through a pathless path…"

He gazed at the ground, tilting his head while smirking.

The light goblin's hands jumped off PSI's chest as if they had actually jumped.

They passed through the light goblin's head.

The light goblin stared as his hands flew into the sky, straight toward his head.

While PSI finished his speech, full of noradrenaline, saying:

"I'm PSI. Who are you? Who are you?"

He thrust his hand right into the goblin's neck.

The goblin stared at the sky while his cut-off hands fell from above.

His neck was wide open. Part of the goblin's neck—PSI's hand size, to be precise—was stored in his inventory.

The shadow goblin was flabbergasted, frozen from seeing the light goblin's hands fall from the sky.

Going completely berserk the moment he turned around…

His eyes fixated on a single point.

In the unending world, he saw the light goblin's head fall off as the head cried and smiled.

For the first time in history, a goblin went into berserk mode with their own intention while still retaining their thoughts and actions.

All that happened was that the shadow goblin gained an immense amount of power surging through him.

The shadow goblin's eyes bled darkness, tears like spilled ink on a page.

"Why… why did you have to kill us? No… why him? We could have talked!"

PSI watched him. The goblin's aura was swelling—a storm of pure emotion making him stronger even as his mind fell apart.

A predictable weakness.

He let out a sigh that carried the weight of nonstop war.

"You think this is about killing," PSI said flatly. "You think there are two kinds of people: those who live for themselves, and those who die for others."

He took a single step forward, the ground silent beneath him.

"I am neither. I don't hate you. I don't like you. It's just a fact—you stood on the path I have to walk. So I walked through you."

The shadow goblin kneeled on the ground, moaning and fidgeting.

"You know almost all of us have kids… you know we have families waiting for us."

PSI paused, expressionless.

"And does that change the fact that you were going to kill me?"

The shadow goblin's eyes widened, his hands violently trembling.

"It's because we have no control over ourselves… we are just pawns."

PSI replied calmly, "So that's how it is. It's not like I didn't recognize it before… I'm actually helping you all by killing you."

He looked down at the ground where the goblin king sat.

"I'm helping him, aren't I… such a shame."

The shadow goblin snarled, "I might as well die fighting like my dead friends…"

"They called me the King of Shadows for a reason."

PSI watched as the shadow goblin knelt toward the sky, his skin scattering off his body.

PSI stepped back, keeping a keen eye on the berserk goblin.

With a cunning look, PSI thought:

They're always ready to blabber and die. No matter how good his berserk mode is, he's obviously going to die unless… yeah. I knew it.

PSI stretched his back.

The shadow goblin flashed.

A shadow goblin could draw shadows even on top of light. Shadows rained like a rushing storm. The ground splashed dark liquid—shadow itself.

The clouds darkened. The sky turned black.

The shadow goblin flashed toward PSI.

He wasn't just sprinting—the ground itself formed shadows identical to him.

PSI stared at their feet. Each shadow blended into the liquid ground.

Suddenly, a punch burst through the shadows and smashed into PSI's jaw.

PSI was blown back, analyzing rapidly.

That punch was solid shadow.

Another attack came from behind—a kick to his knee—followed by an uppercut.

PSI guarded like a professional boxer.

He muttered, "Wait… why do I feel like I forgot something?"

Then realization struck.

He had forgotten him.

The original body owner.

Eugene.

PSI's eyes widened.

"Did I forget the quest too? Damn it… Eugene, where the hell are you?"

Eugene appeared with a restriction talisman over his mouth.

PSI groaned. "Who put that on you? I need help—let's wrap this up."

Eugene signaled.

PSI smirked, delaying on purpose.

Finally, he said, "Unmute."

Eugene sighed internally.

PSI smiled dumbly.

"I might not be around once I finish these quests. How about you switch and get used to your new body and power?"

Suddenly—

A sharp hand stabbed PSI in the heart.

Choking, smirking, he said:

"You only have one life left. Don't ruin it."
