Ding!
"You have been assigned to East Coast Server, Novice Village No. 950. Enjoy your adventure."
With the pleasant chime, Tidus arrived in a small village nestled between hills and rivers. The place was tiny, and since other players had not logged in yet, only NPCs wandered the clean dirt paths.
Tidus did not rush out to kill monsters.
He went straight to the village center, found the village chief, and opened the dialogue window.
"Brave adventurer, our farmlands are being ravaged by a group of Wild Boars. If no one stops them, our harvest will drop. Will you help us?" The village chief looked pitiful and anxious.
Ding!
"Would you like to accept the beginner quest: Slay Wild Boars?"
"Quest description: Help the village chief by killing 30 Wild Boars. Bring back their hides. You will earn the chief's favor, 10 gold coins, and 200 EXP."
"Accept."
Tidus agreed without hesitation.
In his previous life, Slay Wild Boars was a quest every beginner completed because the reward of 10 gold coins was excellent. In God World, gold coins could be exchanged for US Dollars at a rate of 1 to 0.1.
One quest meant one dollar of income, which was incredibly tempting for students.
But most players did not know that the seemingly normal quest contained a hidden condition. If you accepted the quest and then delivered 300 Pig Hides, 300 Bull Horns, 300 Lizard Skins, and 300 Wolf Eyes, it would unlock massive bonus rewards and activate the only hidden quest in the Novice Village.
In his previous life, a professional player from a Russian guild called Alpha Domination activated this hidden quest by accident and skyrocketed to fame.
But in this life…
Tidus intended to get that hidden quest first.
…
After leaving the village chief, Tidus walked to the female potion vendor and opened her trading window.
With his Tenfold Attack Speed talent, every attack cost 1 MP. Blizzard Shot also consumed 1 MP per use. He would run out of mana quickly, so he needed a stockpile of mana potions.
[Small Purification Potion]
Description: Restores 200 MP over 60 seconds. Can be consumed in combat. The effect ends if you are hit.
Price: 10 silver each.
In God World, you could drink potions during combat as long as you were not interrupted.
No need to hesitate. Tidus dragged ten full stacks into his inventory, 200 bottles in total, planning to drink them while grinding.
Ding!
"You do not have enough gold to complete this transaction."
Right…
Tidus' face darkened. One gold coin equaled 100 silver. Twenty stacks required 20 gold, yet he only had the 2 gold of starting money. Without sufficient mana potions, Tenfold Attack Speed would be wasted and his grinding efficiency would plummet.
Fine.
After thinking for a moment, Tidus turned toward the mature, charming potion vendor and began taking off his pants.
As a Royal Archer, he came equipped with a New Trainee Set. It barely boosted stats, but its resale value was quite high.
Selling the entire outfit earned exactly 18 gold coins.
A moment later…
A nearly naked player wearing only white shorts, carrying 200 mana potions and holding a Trainee Longbow, swaggered toward the farmland like a king.
…
"Wild Boars, here I come!"
Tidus reached the farmland at the village entrance. Sure enough, several plump white pigs were happily rooting through the soil, destroying cabbages, broccoli, and wheat seedlings with their snouts.
[Wild Boar]
Level: 1
Attack: 45
HP: 650
Description: Lazy and gluttonous, Wild Boars bow to no one. They eat grass and bite humans. Do not provoke one unless you have help.
A single glance showed how ridiculous their stats were.
Forty-five attack was double that of an average new player. Six hundred fifty HP was triple. They were basically elite monsters. In his last life they were infamous as the Novice Village's tyrants, the nightmare of countless level 1 players. Their existence was meant to encourage players to form parties.
But Tidus had no intention of grouping with ordinary players. He drew his bowstring tight and aimed at a nearby Wild Boar.
Whoosh…
–28!
A Blizzard Shot struck the target, and a white damage number floated above the Wild Boar's head.
The pig turned and saw that the attacker was a tiny human wearing nothing but white shorts. It let out an angry squeal and kicked off the ground with its hind legs, charging at Tidus with a Savage Rush.
Wild Boars were extremely fast.
Tidus retreated while calmly activating his Tenfold Attack Speed talent. His bow arm began to tremble as if cramping. A bow that originally fired once every 2.5 seconds now fired once every 0.25 seconds, four shots per second.
In Tidus' hands, the arrows turned into a continuous streak of motion, hitting the pig over and over.
–29!
–25!
–27!
–30!
–28…
Damage numbers flashed in rapid succession. A thin layer of frost wrapped around the Wild Boar as Blizzard Shot's 20% slow effect took hold.
With its slowed movement, the pig could not keep up. Tidus used hit-and-run footwork, easily dodging it while firing into its backside.
Six seconds later, the once-arrogant Wild Boar collapsed in confusion. Even at the moment of death, it could not understand why this human's attack speed was so insane, even faster than their boss, the Gold Boar King.
Tidus, meanwhile, glanced at the corpse of a monster that used to require a full party a whole minute to kill. Now it took him six seconds. His lips curled upward.
He reached down to loot the body.
