Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Bullies

"You ain't stealing my lackey are you?" Gina asked Jon.

Galvin tried to stop Jon by grabbing him by the shoulder, "This is not worth it. Let them be."

Jon shook his head and replied, "No, nobody should be robbed of their dignity like this. I swear I won't leave until these good for nothing thugs leave Carl."

Aaron stepped forward with his intimidating presence, trying to scare Jon. "What about it? You don't decide anything here. Passing the first deliberation does not give you authority."

"Make me!" Jon insisted.

Tension rose between the two as neither party had any plans of backing down. Gina and her crew want to keep Carl as their plaything. While Jon who pitied Carl wishes Gina's group to let him be. Onlookers and the people who saw the commotion kept their distance. They knew how much trouble it was to cross paths with Gina's group.

Galvin, knowing of the problem he was involved in, tried to mediate and said, "Guys, easy. We could solve this with words. I don't know the history between these two but I just can't sit idly with this matter."

Gina folded her arms, interested with what Galvin had to say and replied. "What do you have in mind?"

Galvin froze as he ran out of ideas. He tried to speak but his lips froze. He sweated buckets and tried to think his way out of the situation. Gina chuckled seeing Galvin hesitate. She thought that Galvin was just a pushover. Lucky enough to pass but had nothing to back up his words.

"Cat your tongue?"

Aaron stepped forward and stretched his arms and said, "Shall I take care of these two? They are getting annoying."

"Do as you wish!" Gina replied and turned her back about to leave.

Suddenly, a familiar voice called Gina. A proud yet sophisticated tone that made her flinch. After that she faced the person who called her and said. "This is none of your business, princess!"

Lorelai flipped her hair and stepped forward from her companions who happened to pass by. She could not stand Gina and her group but causing a scene needlessly was out of the question for her. She saw Jon in front of the group and spoke to him.

"Are you having a death wish?"

Jon replied and said, "I don't stand idly while people are being oppressed by others. Unlike you, privileged people, I cannot hope to become a hero if I let people like Carl be bullied!"

"Strong words. Can you back it up?" Lorelai asked in reply.

Aaron and the others laughed hearing Lorelai's words. They knew that Jon was outnumbered and couldn't do much against them. Galvin thought the same. Jon may be strong but being faced by multiple enemies was out of the question.

"What are you suggesting? Princess?" Gina, keeping her composure, asked Lorelai.

"This issue wouldn't have happened if my pet hadn't caused a ruckus. If my team wins, you will let that boy and his friends be." Lorelai referred to Jon.

"What pet?" Jon angrily replied.

"Standing up for a fellow person was admirable. However, I don't like one-sided fights. I'll give you a fighting chance. If you can stand on your own, you'll have your freedom. Should you lose, you'll be Gina's lapdogs and she could do to you what she wishes. Is that a deal?"

Gina, whose blood was curdling in Lorelai's presence nodded and replied. "You know my language, dear princess. Fine! You have a challenge."

Gina and her group left and tried to drag Carl with them. Lorelai objected to seeing this and said. "Leave that boy in glasses. He's with the two. Until we finalize the match you are not to harm these three. If I see any form of injury or harm against these three, it'll be on you!"

Gina and her group paused for a while. "We can't let him go!" Stuart, the bully in the blue jacket said to Gina.

"As much as I would like to disagree, we have no choice. It's the "princess" we are up against. Doing her dirty will get us in trouble!" Gina replied and signalled to let Carl go.

Gina's group left. Lorelai waited for them to be out of sight before she spoke to Jon and the others. "Now that they are away. You owe me one!"

Carl bowed down his head to Lorelai and thanked her. Lorelai chuckled and replied to him and said, "If you are interested in becoming my pawn, instead I'll gladly take you in."

Hearing this Jon objected and said, "You are no different. I also didn't ask for your help!"

"What are you going to do against them by the way? Get mauled and cry?" Lorelai mocked.

Galvin sighed knowing of the trouble he was in. Gina was a problem but to cross paths with an influential person was worse. "I firmly do not suggest angering a member of the Vermillion family. Jon!"

"He's right, sometimes it's better to know your respective places. Keeping order in the school is a hassle. Bullying, no respect for rules and other shenanigans or threat to order. If you only knew the weight I carry as the school's student council president, you would agree with me!" Lorelai explained.
