Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Voyeger's undying question

In the chasm of the sea of stars.

Where eternal void reigns within its domain.

Lurking unforseen things, that is yet to be unveiled by the naked eyes of oneselves.

There, a lone soul swims along the current of possibilities, in search of answers to its undying question.

...

Humankind…

Such unique but fragile creatures.

Both dirty and flawed, yet at the same time, can shown brightly than the sun, illuminating all existence.

Yet again, why such creatures even exists?

Humans… Whose lives is as fleeting as the whispering cold winds… Fragile as breaking glass…

Endless chronicles to tell humankind, yet only one thing is for sure…

Fragile.

Humans are the most fragile of all beings.

I have seen countless of civilizations rise and fall.

Yet still remains as fragile as one is.

If one do not coexist, the erosion of time will break ones spirit. The isolation of space will whisp the fleeting will.

Yet, if one chosen to coexist, discord will sow between the persons involved. As if fate already wills it… no amount of intervention can suffice the breaking hearts of such spirit.

Though…

Isn't it the same for other beings as well?

The strongest of all races, are prideful for their own good. Leading to one's fall, not even knowing themselves that they are the ones that cut their own future.

The weakest of all races, cunning and intelligent yet they still succumb to death. Dying to their own accordance. Relying heavily on ones in intelligence… leading to their own doom.

As for the lives that rely on their instinct… they not need to say at the very least, as one would still succumb to their own destiny, that is, needless to say, death.

And even if one were to break away from the reigning might of unbreakable chains, would it truly be a fitting end for such one?

No.

Even the strongest fell.

That's the undying rule of existence.

As one lives, one will die.

As one is created, one is destroyed.

So why?

Why does one even live, if one would still succumb to his fate?

What is really the purpose of life? Of existence?

I…

Cannot understand.

...

The lone soul, who swims along the current of fate, has endless questions.

She cannot understand, as to why people would even choose to endure and fight against the strong current of fate.

Watching countless civilizations from afar.

Yet, no matter the choices, one still remains as it is…

Destruction and death.

Returning to oblivion, to one's final moment.

The glimmering light that once shown brightly, dimmed as the civilization rose, replacing with an eerie filthy dim mud.

She had once had high hopes for such creatures. To see them rise with their heads up. To finally realize her undying thirst for answer from her questions.

But…

She was met with greater disappointment.

As one rose to power, the filthy mud of existence creeps within their being…

"Sigh… maybe I should just…"

Just as she was about to give up all her hopes of finding the truth…

She saw it.

A bright light.

Shinning so bright.

It was brighter than any civilization she saw.

His will is so bright that it illuminated all existence within his domain.

There was greed, yes. But…

It was not the greed because of one succumbing to his power.

No.

It was far from that.

Instead, it was a greed fueled by his being of wanting his people for greater good.

She was awestruck.

'Is this it? Is this the moment where I can find the truth myself?'

At this moment, she decided to finally lay low for now and watch him grow his civilization when suddenly…

She opened her cosmic eyes wide.

She saw it.

She definitely saw it.

This whole place, whole civilization.

It was doomed to fall.

So in moments of desperation, she decided to intervene.

A feat she never once did.

As she firmly believed that "abhorrent creatures" which she dubbed the humans, as a plague one should not dare touch.

...(A/N: Yes, added some spice to her personality. ;D)

Back to the present.

"This land is gonna be in ruins."

The woman whose body is only made up of cosmic energy told the Dragon King with a steady voice, yet, it carried a hint of sorrow and wonder.

Nibelung however, frowned even more at the exclamation of the woman in front of him.

Who wouldn't?

Someone appearing in front of you and suddenly telling you that your place will be in ruin.

Who would believe such baseless exclaim?

If there is one, he is definitely not not one to believe such thing.

And if she's just kidding. Who is she even trying to make them laugh?

"Really?"

Though still, he made himself calm down a little bit.

After all, thinking about it for a little bit more, such person would not be joking around.

Especially when it is about such stuff.

Adding to the fact that she's probably as strong, if not, stronger than him, he decided to at least hear her out.

"Still, shouldn't you at least introduce yourself first before warning me about such stuff?"

Nibelung said with a deadpan expression.

Indeed, it was quite unbecoming of her to not introduce herself first.

She became flustered a little bit, coughing lightly as if to change the mood and decided to introduce herself.

"My name is Seutervoinen, you can also call me the Voyager. I've come from afar, and also has witnessed various civilization from my countless journey."

Bowing slightly as she introduce herself, showing proper etiquette, which shows that she indeed has quite the knowledge about it.

Silence occured for a while. Only the occasional chirps of birds and singing trees as it dancing alongside the whispering wind.

Breaking the silence, Nibelung introduce himself, carrying regal tone but with a hint of politeness.

"I'm the ruler of this land, the Dragon King, Nibelung, I am pleased to make your acquaintance, traveler from afar."

After such pleasantries, Seutervoinen decided to finally act.

Showing her true motives for showing herself to him.

"Dragon King, you should-"

Before Seutervoinen could even finish her words, Nibelung cut her off by finishing her words.

"Leave my people? Leave the planet I have come to love and care? No, I shall not leave this planet for such selfish reasons."

Seutervoinin, still processing the words that came out of Nibelung's mouth, looked at him in stupor.

Before she could breathe out anymore words, Nibelung continued with an expression that speaks of longing and care.

"I exist because of my people. Without my people, I wouldn't be for who I am. So leaving my people just because of such selfish reason of wanting to save my own self. Such a thing, I cannot do."

Seutervoinen still in daze, snap out of her stupor, wanting to argue but…

"But-"

"There is no but. Like I said. I exist because of my people. That's why, I will lead my people to the path towards greatness. Leaving behind such things like doubt. Only with my hand can I lead my people towards the greater goods."

Nibelung made a grasping gesture in the air. Wanting to make Seutervoinen see that, he can pave his own way, his own future, cutting down the existing knot of twisted fate.

He then look back at the stunned woman whose body is clad in cosmic energy.

He then gestured the woman to come towards him.

Seutervoinen just silently walked towards Nibelung, as the two suddenly disappeared.

They then appeared in the highest peak in the world.

Gazing below a seemingly large harbor city in the coastal area.

He beckon the woman to look below at the city.

Using her fortified gaze, she saw the people walking around the city.

Dragons in humanoid form buying stuff or selling stuff, spirits happily chatting with other people, deities walking around the area in search of things.

Seutervoinen found it hard to believe such city existed.

Only in dreams you can see such things like the ones on the area.

"This-"

"It is in fact, not the only city that holds such things. Other regions as well, coexists with different types of creature."

Nibelung gazed at the harbor with an expression that seems to relieve about the past.

He paused for a moment before continuing his speech.

"Sure. The world is a harsh one right now. But… It is also the reason why I beckoned my clan to coexist with other people. As such, it is my responsibility to see it through till the very end of my existence. My ideals of taking my kind and my people towards the sea of stars. I'll see it till the very end."

Nibelung after saying all of those, looked at the harbor once more, before asking the woman near him with another question.

Now, a question that he wants to ask her very much.

"So, my new friend. I ask you this."

"Uhm?"

"After I managed to carve out my own path, the path to which leads my people towards the greatness. Would you, my friend, be willing to come visit this world again and see the future as I carve its fate?"

No one said anything after that.

After a few minutes of pause, Seutervoinen finally opened her mouth and said.

"Sure, my new friend. Let's see how your hands can lead your people."

With that, Nibelung only smiled slightly and left the woman, teleporting to somewhere only he knows.

For a brief moment, Seutervoinen looked at the harbor for some more time, before leaving.

As he was about to retract her gaze and turn around to leave, she saw something that shocked her to her very core.

Opening her galactic like eyes wide, she exclaimed loudly.

"Is that!?"
