Chapter 5 - Two Worlds, One Room

JAY-JAY POV

SKIPS TO 1 MONTH

A lot of things happened in this one month.

Section B and I grew close—closer than I ever expected. When the elections came, they pushed me to run.

I didn't even want to at first, but somehow I ended up as the only candidate.

And just like that, I won.

President.

It still feels strange to say it.

I'm not the old Jay anymore. I'm not the troublemaker everyone whispered about.

I'm not the girl who always got dragged into chaos.

But still… outside of school, fights found me.

I couldn't always walk away.

And Section E?

They tried to talk to me.

Tried to pull me back into their world.

But I ignored them every time.

Because this is who I am now.

Section B's Jay.

The one who finally learned how to breathe.

Today felt different.

"Jay, get up! You're gonna be late!" Percy yelled from the kitchen, his voice echoing through the house.

"I'm coming!" I shouted back, fumbling with my hair in the mirror.

Okay—ponytail, blush, lip gloss.

My usual routine.

Quick, simple, enough to make me look awake even if I wasn't.

I grabbed my bag and rushed downstairs.

Percy was already at the table, sipping coffee like he had all the time in the world.

"You're slow," he teased, raising a brow. "If you keep this up, Section B will think their president can't even show up on time."

I rolled my eyes, snatching a piece of toast from the plate. "I'm not late. You just like yelling."

Percy smirked, leaning back in his chair. "True. But admit it—I make a great alarm clock."

I laughed, shaking my head. "More like the worst alarm clock ever."

He grinned, clearly satisfied with himself. "Still works though."

"Fine, now get going," Percy said, waving me off like some dramatic parent.

"Where are my keys?" I asked, scanning the room. My chest fluttered with excitement—yeah, I can finally drive now.

"It should be by the TV," Percy called back.

I found them exactly where he said. "Bye! I might be late today, we've got a meeting," I told him as I headed out of the apartment.

"Fine, be safe!" he yelled, then added, "And don't crash my baby car, or I'll make you walk to school for the rest of your life!"

I rolled my eyes, laughing. "Relax, Percy. I drive better than you."

"Better than me?" he scoffed "Jay, you once tripped over your own shoelaces. Behind the wheel, that's a national disaster waiting to happen."

I stuck my tongue out at him, slipping into the driver's seat. The leather felt cool against my palms as I gripped the wheel. Turning the key, the engine roared to life.

Percy poked his head out the window, shouting, "Remember—signal lights aren't just decorations!"

I laughed so hard I almost stalled the car. "Bye, Percy!"

"Bye, Baby Sistah! Drive safe—and don't forget, the brake is the one on the left!"

I shook my head, grinning as I pulled out of the lot.

For the first time, I wasn't just being dropped off—I was driving myself.

I parked my car next to a sleek black BMW.

"Wow… rich," I muttered under my breath.

Then I heard the whispers.

"Yeah, he's back."

"Damn, he's more handsome than before."

"My dad said he officially got the company. I would do anything to have his child."

I nearly gagged right there.

Excuse me?

Did they just say they'd do anything to have his child?

That almost made me throw up.

I clutched my bag tighter, rolling my eyes so hard I thought they might get stuck.

"Great," I muttered. "Another rich, handsome, company-owning heartthrob. Just what this school needed."

I walked past the crowd, trying not to laugh at how dramatic they sounded.

Honestly, it felt less like school and more like some soap opera.

I walked into Section B.

"Hey, Pres," Caleb greeted me with a grin.

"Oh, please stop with the 'Pres' thing again," I groaned, rolling my eyes.

"Jay!" Mia called out, waving me over. "Did you see the car outside?"

"The BMW!! Yeah," I told her, dropping my bag onto the desk.

Mia leaned in, her eyes sparkling. "Jay, you don't get it. That BMW isn't just some random car—it means he's here."

Olivia tapped her pen against the desk, smirking. "And judging by the way half the girls are acting, they're ready to faint."

Ben shook his head, looking unimpressed. "It's pathetic. One guy shows up with a shiny car and suddenly everyone forgets how to breathe."

Caleb chuckled, nudging me. "Better watch out, Pres. Looks like Section B's about to get a new distraction."

I raised a brow, trying to play it cool even though curiosity was gnawing at me. "So who exactly is this mystery guy?"

Mia grinned, lowering her voice like she was telling me a secret. "You'll see soon enough. Let's just say… London didn't change him—it upgraded him."

"London… does that mean he's back?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.

"Is it him?" The words slipped out before I could stop them, my chest tightening.

Mia reached for my hand, her grip steady.

"Jay, it's okay. We'll be with you," she said, her eyes soft but firm, like she already knew what I was afraid of.

Olivia leaned closer, her tone hushed but curious. "Jay, we will be with you."

Ben and Caleb nodded, their eyes steady, like they were ready to back me up no matter what.

"Jay, today's the monthly assembly," Ben reminded me.

"Shit—I totally forgot," I muttered.

"Jay, we've gotta go now," Ben urged.

"Mia, Olivia, Ben, Caleb—let's move," I said, gathering them quickly.

We headed toward the gymnasium, where the other sections were already seated. Section B's spot was the second row, so we slid into place.

"Morning, Jay," Mica greeted with a smile.

"Morning, Mica," I replied, returning it.

"Jay, did you eat?" Aries asked from the next row.

Before I could answer, Ben cut in with a grin. "Oh please, she probably inhaled twenty pancakes."

I glared at him and punched his arm. "Asshole."

He just laughed, and Aries chuckled too.

Our Guidance Counselor, Sir Alvin, stepped forward with Miss Smith. Behind them came Miss Laila, Ma'am Cindy, and a few others who weren't teachers.

"Good morning!" Sir Alvin greeted, his voice carrying across the gym.

"Let's begin the Fourth-Year Assembly. Starting with Section A."

I looked toward Section A as Aries stood from his seat.

"Section A representative, Michael Aries Fernandez. Students' report—zero suspensions, no violations. Homeroom report—our window is broken. Suggestions—none," Aries said clearly.

"Next, Section B."

I rose from my chair, speaking loud enough for the room to hear.

"Section B representative, Jasper Jean Mariano. Students' report—zero suspensions, two violations. Homeroom report—a new board. Suggestions—none."

"See? That wasn't so bad," Mia whispered, nudging me with her elbow. "Your assembly report was clean—you killed it."

I smirked, shaking my head. "Killed it? I literally just said two violations and a broken board."

Olivia leaned in with a grin. "Yeah, but you said it like a boss. That's what matters."

Ben chuckled from behind me. "Honestly, I thought you were gonna choke halfway through. Proud of you, Pres."

I turned and shot him a glare. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, gago."

Caleb laughed, raising his hands. "Hey, don't punch him again—we're in public."

I rolled my eyes, but the corners of my mouth tugged upward.

The assembly moved on, and then came Section E's turn.

"Section E representative, Mark Keifer Watson," he said, his voice smooth and confident.

My stomach dropped.

He really is here.

I turned around, and sure enough—Keifer stood there, tall, composed, and smirking right at me like he'd been waiting for this exact moment.

"Students' report—three suspensions, eight violations. Homeroom report—none. Suggestions—none," he said casually, like the chaos of Section E was nothing more than a joke.

The smirk didn't leave his face.

If anything, it deepened when his eyes locked with mine.

I quickly turned back around, my pulse racing.

Damn it.

Of all the times for him to show up, it had to be now.

When the assembly finally ended, I pushed myself out of my seat, still replaying Keifer's smirk in my head.

"Miss Mariano, please come to my office," the principal called out, her tone firm. "Take your vice president with you too."

I froze for a second, my brows knitting together.

Seriously?

Right after that circus?

I looked at Ben, narrowing my eyes. "What did you do?"

Ben raised his hands like he was innocent. "Nothing… yet."

"Yet?" I repeated, my voice dripping with suspicion.

He smirked. "Come on, you can scold me later. Right now, we've gotta get to the principal's office."

Before I could argue, he grabbed my wrist and started pulling me down the hallway.

"Ben, slow down! You're acting like we're about to get arrested," I hissed, trying to keep up.

He glanced back at me, grinning. "Well, with Section B's record, it wouldn't be the craziest thing."

I rolled my eyes, but my stomach twisted anyway. The principal never called us out unless it was serious.

As we reached the office door, Ben leaned closer. "Relax, Pres. Worst case, she yells at us. Best case, she gives us free snacks."

I snorted. "You're such an idiot."

"Yeah," he said, pushing the door open, "but I'm your idiot vice president."

When we stepped into the office, Keifer and Yuri were already there.

The sight of them hit me like a punch—I froze on the spot.

"Pres," Ben called, snapping me out of it.

I glanced at him, then back at Keifer and Yuri. T

heir eyes were locked on Ben, and the look they gave him was pure venom.

"Hmm," I managed, my throat tight.

"The principal called you twice already," Ben reminded me.

"Oh—sorry, Miss P," I said quickly, turning toward her.

"It's okay, Miss Mariano," she replied with a small smile. "I have to say, after you became president of Section B, the improvement has been remarkable. Grades, extracurriculars… everything is better."

I felt heat rise to my cheeks. "Thank you, Miss P," I said, forcing a smile.

But even as I spoke, I could feel Keifer's smirk burning into me, Yuri's glare heavy in the room.

The praise didn't drown out the tension—it only made it louder.

"Miss Mariano, I called you here because, as you know, Section E's building is getting demolished," she said.

I nodded, though something inside me burned.

I tried to stop the demolition, but I couldn't.

Section A's Mykle pushed it through—that asshole.

"As you know, you tried to stop the demolition, but the orders were strong," she continued.

Why did she have to say that out loud?

Nobody knew.

Not even Section B.

I glanced sideways and caught the smirk on Keifer's face.

He looked like he was enjoying every second of this.

Ben, on the other hand, looked completely confused.

"So," Miss P said, her tone leaving no room for argument, "I am placing Section E into your classroom."

"What?" The word escaped me, sharp and stunned.

Deep down, though, a flicker of relief stirred.

Ben leaned forward, his voice steady but cautious. "But ma'am, how is that possible? Section E has sixteen people, and our class already has ten."

Miss P's eyes narrowed. "Ben, your section has the least number of students. The other sections are full. This is not a request—it is a necessity."

I swallowed hard. "Until when, ma'am?"

"I don't know," she said, her tone clipped, her gaze locked on me. "But understand this—it is your responsibility now. Section B will take Section E. And you, Miss Mariano, will make it work."

Her words landed like a command, not a choice.

"But that doesn't mean we're erasing Section E," Miss P added, her tone sharp and deliberate. "They still have their own identity, their own voice, and their own opinions. You will respect that."

I swallowed hard, the weight of her words pressing down on me.

Keifer leaned back in his chair, that damn smirk still plastered on his face, like he knew this was his win. Yuri's glare was colder than ever.

Ben shifted beside me, clearly unsettled. "So… they'll still be Section E, even inside our room?" he asked carefully.

Miss P's eyes flicked to him, firm and unyielding. "Exactly. They are not disappearing, Mr. Vice President. They are being housed with you. But they remain Section E. Do not forget that."

Her gaze returned to me, piercing. "Miss Mariano, this is your responsibility. You will lead Section B, and you will coexist with Section E. Whether you like it or not."

I clenched my fists under the desk, forcing myself to nod. "Yes, ma'am."

"When will Section E move into Section B?" I asked.

"That is up to you and Mr. Watson to decide," Miss P said firmly. "You may leave."

I stood, my chest tight, and walked out of the office. Ben caught up quickly.

"When did you try to stop the demolishment?" he asked, his voice low but insistent.

"Don't ask," I muttered, shutting him down.

I turned then—straight into Keifer's glare. His eyes were locked on Ben, sharp and dangerous, like he wanted to tear him apart.

"Mr. Watson," I said, forcing my voice steady, "you can come to our room today after school with the rest of Section E."

Keifer's smirk was gone.

Instead, his expression shifted—sad, almost broken.

For a moment, the cocky mask slipped, and I saw something raw underneath.

It unsettled me more than his glare ever could.
