The next day, Zarek didn't allow Eliora to leave the room. He even stopped her from going to finish her refinement with the seer.
They had argued about it for a long time this morning, but he would not budge. After what happened with the knife yesterday, he was too scared to let her wander.
Eliora finished her lunch and walked over to the window. She rested her hands on the edge, looking down at the courtyard. A group of soldiers were training with swords, shouting as they moved through drills under the afternoon sun.
A knock echoed at the door.
"Come in," Eliora said without turning around, thinking it was just a servant.
The door creaked open and light footsteps echoed on the floor.
She finally looked over her shoulder and saw Maelina standing there.
The high seer looked as cold and distant as ever, but her eyes quickly scanned Eliora's body to make sure she was not hurt.
"How are you feeling today?" She asked cooly.
