Chapter 147 - Protect everything

Easter is fast approaching, and the Hogwarts professors have all agreed to assign their students a mountain of holiday homework.

Perhaps the professors know that most students like to slack off, so they use this method to encourage students to study hard and avoid failing the upcoming final exams.

At Hogwarts, if your final grades are too bad, you could actually be held back a year, although this is very rare.

"Don't you need to review?" Li Qiaodan had just finished reciting the twelve uses of dragon blood when he looked up at Albert, who was busy with his own things, and couldn't help but ask.

"I've reviewed it." Albert repeated the twelve uses of dragon blood that Li Jordan had just memorized without looking up.

"You shouldn't have asked Albert," Fred sighed, then complained, "That guy could have done better than you even without studying. By the way, why are we starting to study more than a month in advance?"

"I heard from Percy that Professor Broad will resign in mid-May." George covered a yawn with his hand and looked at Albert. "Is that true?"

"Yes, that's definitely true." Albert nodded to indicate that it was true.

"I also heard that Professor Broad has already prepared the final exam questions." George's eyes lit up with excitement, and he quickly asked, "You often go to Professor Broad's office, have you seen him...?"

"You're overthinking it." Albert looked at George speechlessly. "It doesn't matter to me whether I peeked at the exam questions or not. Why would I go through all that trouble and earn myself a bad reputation for cheating?"

By the way, the book-reading app I've been using recently, [Mimi Reading app], allows you to cache books and read them offline!

"That's true." Fred was practicing his staff swinging motions listlessly. His shapeshifting skills were not very proficient, especially cross-species shapeshifting, which was still difficult for him. However, he had heard that it was one of the required test subjects.

"What a buzzkill! We finally get a day off, can't we just relax and have some peace and quiet?" Li Qiaodan threw down his book and moved closer to Albert. "Are you making protective bracelets again?"

"Yes, the protective bracelet I made last time was substandard, and I'm trying to improve it." Albert didn't intend to hide anything. "I've learned a lot of new things recently, which will come in handy."

"Newly learned?" Fred seized on the word. "Learned it from Professor Brod, an advanced defense spell against dark magic?"

"It's the use of ancient runes." Albert ignored his roommates who had all gathered around and casually swept the wood shavings into the fireplace. "Aren't you guys doing your homework? Everyone in the common room has gone back to rest, no one will disturb you while you do your homework."

"No, there's no rush," George muttered.

"Don't you do your homework?" Li Jordan asked Albert. "I haven't seen you go to the library to do your homework much lately. Angelina even asked about it this afternoon."

"He doesn't have to do it, at least not the Transfiguration holiday homework," George protested irritably. "Professor McGonagall exempted Albert from most of his homework, and I guess he doesn't have to do Defense Against the Dark Arts either."

"Oh, really? Ugh, why do I have to do so much homework?" Fred complained.

The thought of having to frantically complete a heavy amount of homework during the Easter holiday made the three of them furious.

"If you can publish a paper in today's Transfiguration class, you definitely won't need to do Transfiguration homework." It was Shanna who spoke; she had just finished her Transfiguration homework and was stretching wearily.

Despite their complaints, the twins still had to do their homework, no matter how unwilling they were, unless they wanted to be locked up by the professors.

If you don't do well on the exam, it will be even harder when you go home for summer vacation.

Albert is far from idle; he has his own things to do.

The crude protective bracelet version 1.1 was quickly announced as complete; however, the bracelet's effectiveness was still only mediocre, and the ancient runes engraved on it had no effect whatsoever.

This means it was a failure.

Albert wrote in his "Protective Bracelet Manufacturing Manual": "Protective bracelet version 1.1 was a complete failure. The intended effect was not achieved, and it was no different from version 1.0."

In fact, Albert hoped that his skill panel would have an alchemy skill similar to a protective bracelet, but his hopes were undoubtedly dashed.

Perhaps the so-called protective bracelet doesn't even qualify as an alchemical item.

That's what Albert guessed.

Over the next few days, Albert could clearly feel that McDougal was writing the manuscript faster. However, the third part of the manuscript was already beyond Albert's ability, but the content surprised him.

Unlike the previous parts, the third part of the manuscript actually involves the use of ancient magical script, specifically the application of spells.

The Patronus Charm is not the only ancient spell.

As if explaining it to Albert, McDougal described a powerful protective spell in his manuscript.

If translated directly, it would be "comprehensive protection".

This ancient spell is similar to the Ironclad Spell. After casting the spell, it forms an invisible protective barrier between the caster and the opponent. This barrier is not one-way, but protects the caster from all directions and angles.

From McDougall's description, Albert felt as if he were wrapped in an indestructible passport.

If the Ironclad Charm is a moderately difficult charm, then "Total Protection" is undoubtedly an extremely complex and difficult charm to cast.

Albert had tried once under Professor Brod's watchful eye, but failed.

In fact, Albert had tried to cast spells using ancient runes but failed every time, and he had asked Professor Brod why.

Professor Brod's reply was: Your magical power is not strong enough to support these ancient and powerful spells; your understanding and application of them is only superficial.

Professor Brod's insight was incredibly sharp; he immediately saw Albert's problem: a lack of experience.

Even if Albert were a genius, he couldn't possibly learn it in one go; ancient magic was far more difficult to master than the magic we use today.

Perhaps, if someone were to teach Albert, and after a few months of practice, he would be able to master the spell.

As the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Professor Brod was undoubtedly an expert in the field, but he had no intention of teaching Albert.

Both Professor Brod and McDoug believed that Albert should be given a break and that he should be guided on how to use those ancient spells after he had absorbed the knowledge of runes.

Being too hasty is not necessarily a good thing for a young person.

Sometimes, people need to be patient.

In Professor Brod's view, the Ironclad Charm, which is easier to master and more practical, is undoubtedly more suitable for Albert.

"I suggest you continue to explore the potential of this spell, rather than sticking to those ancient spells," Professor Brod explained. "Wizards have developed many variant spells based on the original ones."

"Super Armor Spell?" Albert asked tentatively.

"It seems you've studied the Ironclad Charm," Professor Brod nodded. "It's a sophisticated technique."

Albert didn't do research; he just watched the movie.

The almost indestructible magical protective barrier, initiated by Professor Flitwick and completed by several other professors during the Great Battle of Hogwarts, was a highlight of the film.

"Do you know why those ancient spells aren't as popular these days?" Professor Brod suddenly asked.

"Slow pace, long chanting time?" Albert raised an eyebrow.

"Yes," Professor Brod nodded. "Especially in wizard duels, the skillful use of spells is the most important thing, which is why the Ironclad Charm and some simple anti-spells are favored."

"Could you show me that ancient protective spell?" Albert suddenly asked.

Professor Brod raised an eyebrow, but did not refuse. He raised his wand and waved it around himself.

In that instant, Albert noticed a disturbance in the air, as if an invisible barrier was surrounding Professor Brod.

"Can I touch it?" Albert asked.

"able."

"That's amazing." Albert reached out and pushed, but found an invisible force preventing his hand from moving. "However, I remember 'All Blessed' is something like…"

"It's magic used to protect a specific area. The uses of this spell can be far beyond your imagination." Professor Brod saw through Albert's thoughts and said softly, "Don't rush, you're still young and have a lot to learn."

Albert fell silent, for this was not the ancient protective spell, but it was undoubtedly more suitable for him to use now.

Professor Brod guessed what he was thinking; it wasn't too difficult for him.

"Oh, right, here you go," Professor Brod suddenly said, pulling an invitation from his pocket and handing it to Albert.

"What is this?" Albert was surprised that Professor Brod would give him an invitation directly.

"It's obvious this is an invitation," Professor Brod said. "It's a private invitation; McDougal intends to invite a few friends who are all experts in ancient runes."

"Why did you invite me?" Albert asked, somewhat puzzled.

"Because you are now a semi-expert, the youngest expert. Believe me, many people will be happy to see you," Professor Brod said with a smile. "This field has been without fresh blood for far too long."

"Me, an expert?" Albert was still a little confused. In his previous life, "expert" was not a good word, especially when it came to experts on television.

To paraphrase a saying at the time, experts don't have the time to go on TV and ramble on to you.

For some reason, Albert felt that this was a bit unusual.

As far as he knew, wizards usually did not have a high status in the magical world before they came of age; they were considered fledglings, objects to be protected.

A twelve-year-old expert?

Albert found it rather amusing. It wasn't that he disagreed with Professor Brod's words, but rather that this was how he perceived the magical world.
