Chapter 12 - grandfather

Two days later, The Anderson Family drove to CharlesStreet, where Albert's grandparents lived at number 21.

The Anderson Family made time every year to visit the two elders. During the summer holidays, Albert would always come here to stay for a few days.

"Dad, I'm here to see you."

"Albert, come here, let me see you!" Luke completely ignored his son and walked forward, staring at his grandson. "Herb said you received a letter from Hogwarts. That's wonderful. If there's anything you want to buy, you can tell me..."

"Dad, I've already taken Albert to Diagon Alley in London to buy things." Herb looked at his father helplessly, cleared his throat, and said, "I also brought you a gift."

"I'm not a child, what do I need a gift for?" Luke looked up at his son, then took Albert's small hand and said, "Come inside first, and tell me what magic you've learned."

"Luke has been excited for days, like a child." Sansa said to Herb and Daisy, "He never told me about this before; I only found out a few days ago. Long time no see, Nia, did you miss me?"

"Big brother won't even let me touch his wand; he always guards it like I'm a thief." Nia immediately tattled to her grandmother.

"Herb, keep an eye on Tom, don't let it run around." Daisy picked up the package from the car and had her husband carry the cat cage, so the cat wouldn't run off as soon as it was let out.

"Can Albert really do magic?" Sansa found this very interesting; she never imagined her grandson was actually a legendary Wizard.

"Yes, he can make the wand glow, and he secretly practices every night in his room." Nia held her grandmother's hand, listing Albert's faults. "He also said that if I took the wand, I'd probably blow up the whole house."

"Mom, you don't know, that wand is really dangerous. I'm telling you..." Herb carried the cat cage, following behind the two, still rambling about what he had seen in Diagon Alley.

"Albert believes that trying magic haphazardly is very dangerous." Daisy added. She had read those History of Magic books and knew some of what happened in the Wizarding World, so she had some understanding of the Wizarding World.

"Alright, Daisy, things aren't as bad as you imagine."

"No, Mom, in fact, even in the Wizarding World, children aren't allowed to easily handle wands." Daisy fully sided with Albert; their son was always very reliable.

"How do you know?" Herb asked curiously.

"If you read all those books, you'd know." Daisy looked at her husband reproachfully. "Can't you pay more attention to Albert's affairs? He's our precious son."

"Don't worry, Albert has never needed us to worry since he was little." Herb knew his son's personality well; Albert had always been very easy to deal with.

"Even so, you should still be more careful." Daisy carried the package into the house, closing the door behind her.

Tom, who had been cooped up for the entire journey, started running wild after being released from the cat cage. Sansa and Daisy went to the Kitchen to prepare desserts and black tea, while Luke listened to his son and grandson talk about Diagon Alley, with the two filling in any missing parts for each other.

Luke, of course, knew that Wizard portraits moved and had some understanding of Dumbledore.

He put the chocolate frogs Herb brought into a large glass jar and placed it in the living room as a decoration.

"I even wrote a letter to Principal Dippet back then, asking why I hadn't received an invitation." After so many years, Luke had come to terms with it. "Because I had no magical ability, what they call a Squib, I was sent away by my family when I was eleven and entrusted to a distant Muggle relative to raise."

"How could they do that?" Herb was puzzled and angry; he felt his father's family had gone too far.

"A Squib, to a Wizard family, is a disgrace." Luke said softly, "They will hide this secret as much as possible, even pretending that such a person doesn't exist."

"Don't be sad, don't be sad." Nia comforted him.

"It's been so many years; I've let go of it all and completely cut ties with that family." Luke picked up Nia, placed her on his lap, and said with a smile, "However, Albert becoming a Wizard was a bit unexpected. When Herb didn't receive an invitation back then, I had already completely given up."

During their chat, Albert showed them new magic, such as the Lumos Charm, Reparo, Cleaning Charm, and Alohomora. These were the four types of magic he currently mastered, thanks to his Wizard Bloodlineleveling up to 2.

Although he wasn't yet proficient, seeing a cracked teacup slowly repair itself and spilled tea on the table dry up without warning was still quite astonishing.

"Me too!" Nia looked at her grandfather, pouting, and complained softly, "I want to learn magic too. Albert is too cunning."

Luke looked at his grandson, asking for his opinion. He knew Albert had his own ideas and wouldn't make decisions lightly on some matters.

"You must do exactly as I say." Albert looked at his sister; he was actually curious if Nia had magical talent.

"I will, I promise." Nia nodded repeatedly like a pecking chick.

"You're agreeing too quickly. Never mind, you're not even listening to what I'm saying." Albert stared at his sister and said seriously.

"No way, I am listening seriously." Nia quickly retorted.

"First, repeat after me: Lumos."

"Lumos." Nia quickly followed along, knowing it was a spell.

"Now say it slowly a few more times. Don't say it wrong, or who knows what might happen." Albert instructed, "Later, I'll lend you my wand. Don't poke it around, don't point it at people, don't cast spells randomly, and don't get angry if magic doesn't come out."

"Got it." Nia said a little impatiently.

"What did I just say?" Albert suddenly asked.

"Don't poke the wand around, don't..." Nia forgot what she was saying. She pouted and complained, "I'm not you; how can I remember so many things?"

"If you can't remember, I can't give you the wand." Albert said seriously.

"But... okay, say it again." Nia compromised.

Watching Albert have Nia completely under his thumb, The Anderson Family all chuckled. Children are always mischievous, and Nia was no different.

However, Albert had a way to manage her naughtiness.

Only after Nia had memorized his words did Albert hand her his wand.

Nia excitedly took the wand, and only after Albertglared at her did she settle down, obediently reciting the spell and attempting to use the Lumos Charm. However, the spell did not succeed.

"Take a deep breath, concentrate, and try again." Albertreached out and placed his hand on Nia's shoulder, saying softly.

The Lumos Charm is one of the simplest spells. If she couldn't use it, it likely meant Nia might not have the talent to become a Wizard.

"Lumos." Nia tried several more times, but none were successful.

"You're rushing. Don't rush; the more you rush, the easier it is to fail." Albert stroked his sister's hair and turned his head to look at his grandfather.

Luke shook his head at him. Albert actually knew what that meant.

"Do I not have the talent to be a Wizard?" Nia's face was tear-streaked; she looked very sad.

"I don't know either." Albert comforted her, "Perhaps it's just because you're still young."

"Hmph, Albert always likes to lie. I definitely don't have the talent to be a Wizard." Nia threw down the wandand ran off.

Albert picked up the wand with a helpless expression, looking in the direction Nia had run, preparing to chase after her.

Children are such a hassle.

"I'll go find Nia." Luke stood up and walked in his granddaughter's direction; he understood Nia's current feelings.
