Chapter 49: Rain, Laughter & Cozy Chaos ⛈️💞
The storm outside had no plans of stopping. Rain slammed against the windows, lightning lit the room in short, bright flashes, and thunder rumbled like a distant drum.
Jay sat cross-legged on the couch, wrapped in one of Keifer's oversized hoodies, sipping the hot chocolate he made. Keifer leaned back on the armrest, grinning at her.
"You know," he said, nudging her shoulder, "you look ridiculously cute in my hoodie." 😏
Jay rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her smile. "Ridiculously? That's a compliment now?"
"Of course, my love. Ridiculous is my favorite kind of cute."
She groaned, laughing. "You're impossible."
"Yep. But I'm your impossible," he teased, poking her side.
Jay swatted his hand away. "Stop it!"
"Stop what? Making you laugh?" He leaned closer, eyes sparkling with mischief. "Never."
Lightning flashed again, and Jay jumped slightly. Keifer wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer. "See? I'm here. No scary storm is gonna touch you."
"Yeah, yeah," she whispered, resting her head on his shoulder.
A loud knock came from the stairs — or maybe it was a creak, Jay couldn't tell with the storm.
Keifer laughed softly. "Relax, Mrs. Watson. The only people in the house are me… and my brothers. And they're probably raiding the fridge."
Jay lifted her head. "Keiren and Keigen?"
"Yep. They already adore you now. I warned them to behave… mostly."
Jay giggled. "Mostly?"
He winked. "It's more fun that way."
The two of them spent the next hour teasing each other, making hot chocolate jokes, stealing marshmallows from each other's mugs, and occasionally laughing so hard they nearly spilled everything.
"You're ridiculous," Jay whispered when he draped his arm over her shoulders again.
"Yeah," he replied softly, brushing her hair from her face. "Ridiculously yours." 💞
Thunder rolled outside, shaking the windows. They didn't move. They didn't need to. The storm was just background music to their laughter, their whispers, and their soft stolen touches.
Keifer leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "You know, Mrs. Watson…"
Jay's heart fluttered. "Yes?"
"I could stay like this forever."
Her smile was soft, her eyes warm. "Me too, my life."
And in the flickering light of the storm, with rain pouring down and the house filled with warmth, that was all that mattered.
No words were needed. No outside world existed. Just them, cozy, laughing, teasing — and wrapped up in each other. 🌧️💖
