Chapter 3 - avoiding my mate

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my ears, the darkness of my room slowly giving way to the faint light of dawn. I stretched, feeling the familiar ache in my muscles from yesterday's training. Knight, my wolf, stirred within me, and I could sense her eagerness to get started. It has been two days since my birthday and it hasn't been easy avoiding my mate.

I quickly got out of bed and changed into my training outfit - a pair of canvas leggings and a singlet crop that showed off my toned arms and shoulders. I packed my hair into a messy bun, securing it with a few swift movements.

As I made my way down to the training grounds, the smell of fresh earth and dew-filled air filled my lungs. The pack was already up and moving, some doing their morning stretches, others grabbing a quick breakfast.

I started with some light exercises, loosening up my muscles and getting my blood pumping. The cool morning air invigorated me, and I felt my senses come alive. Knight was restless, urging me to push harder, to test my limits.

After a few minutes of solo training, I decided to spar with Marcus, a seasoned warrior and one of the pack's top fighters.aside Peter, He was a giant of a man, with arms as thick as tree trunks and a scull-like face that could intimidate even the bravest of foes.

We faced off, our eyes locked in a fierce stare. The air was electric with tension as we circled each other, our movements fluid and calculated. I could feel the power coursing through my veins, and I knew I was in for a fight.

The training session was intense, with Marcus giving me a run for my money. But I was the Alpha, and I was more powerful than anyone in the pack. It was a fact, not a boast.

As I brought Marcus down to his knees with a swift kick, I felt a presence behind me. I turned to see Star watching us, her eyes fixed on me. I quickly looked away, not ready to face the feelings she stirred within me.

Marcus, sensing the tension, offered to spar with Star. I felt a surge of...something, a feeling I couldn't quite explain. It was like a knot in my stomach, a burning sensation that I couldn't shake off. I mind-linked Marcos, my voice firm. "Make Star spar with a female warrior instead."

Marcos nodded, his eyes flicking to Star before returning to me. "Yes, Alpha."

Star looked a bit confused but agreed to spar with one of the female warriors. I watched them for a moment, feeling a strange sense of unease. I didn't like seeing Star interact with anyone else, didn't like the feeling it stirred within me.

When it was time for our morning run, the pack shifted into their wolf forms. I changed into knight , my sleek black fur glimmering in the sunlight. Star shifted into Light, her white fur a stark contrast to my darkness.

As we ran, Light tried to keep pace with me, but I ran ahead, avoiding her. Light asked Storm why we were avoiding them, and knight replied that it was nothing but the stress of becoming the new Alpha.

After the run, we headed back to the pack house for breakfast. I grabbed my food and left, not waiting for Star. She tried to follow me, but I told her to go with Rain instead. I needed some space, needed to clear my head.

As I walked away, I could feel Star's eyes on me. I knew I was being unfair, but I couldn't help it. I didn't know how to process these feelings, didn't know how to handle the emotions swirling inside me.

I was the Alpha, and I was supposed to be strong, supposed to be in control. But Star made me feel weak, made me feel like I was losing my grip on reality.

And I didn't like it, didn't like the way she made me feel.

I arrived at school, taking a seat at the back of the classroom. Star walked in a few minutes later, her eyes scanning the room before landing on me. I looked away, not ready to face her, not ready to face the feelings she stirred within me.
