My father continues his explanation, his clinical tone grating against my nerves. "The situation will be different for you, Arlene. You lack the emotional baggage tied to deceased individuals that typically triggers these episodes. Your bond with Vaughn creates a powerful connection that amplifies everything."
He pauses, studying her reaction before continuing. "Elevated stress levels or intense agitation often serve as catalysts for the visions. The mechanism mirrors what occurs during your sleep-induced episodes."
A low rumble escapes Arlene's throat, and I can't suppress my grin at her obvious irritation.
"Wonderful. So these visions are permanent fixtures in my life now." She shakes her head in defeat and takes another sip from her glass. When my father opens his mouth to interject, I raise my hand to silence him.
