Chapter 10 - Day Thirty Two: The Time Blur

Survival Log for the world I have ended up in. For the record my Earth name is Ellery Kingston. My ID number is 888-3 for all Expeditionary Forces of Earth. As of July 18 of 2096 I have successfully entered a new world. As per the rules of the EFE I am writing daily logs based on my experiences and observations in this new world. With the introduction to my logs done I shall start.

Survival Log Day Thirty Two

I am writing this in bed after being found nearly dead in the tower roof from finally getting a proper shout. I don't know how I did it, it just happened. I stood as the wind picked up and walked to the edge. I pulled on everything, my body, mind, magic, and soul. A single word left my lips in a whisper.

FUS

The word left my lips and commanded reality to obey. Force slammed into the world of Mundus and launched my exhausted form backwards. The tower shook below me as my shout echoed through the mountains. My body despite being exhausted to near death shook with excitement. I could barely take a breath as I lay there sprawled on the ground. I might have imagined it at the time as I was passing out but the wind itself blew unto me as if directed.

I lost consciousness soon after and woke up here in the restoration hall. It had been two days since I used the shout and I was feeling terrible. Magic could do a lot but it couldn't heal the exhaustion of my soul. I was a mortal being. Because of that, shouts took a massive toll compared to dragons and Dragonborn.

While my body was perfectly healthy my soul still effected it. My hearing was greatly reduced and my ability to speak was shot. As I lay there I meditated on what I'd felt. I created force from my voice. Magic could mimic that by using sound but the shout had been me speaking something into existence. It felt incredible and terrifying at the same time.

It had been a single whisper. That was power without effort. I'd said a word and created something that could sunder armies. I wanted to do it again. My voice would work in time so I simply needed to rest and wait. Was I being a bit obsessive? Sure I was, but most people in my place would try just as hard as I am to learn the Thu'um. I didn't think of it as some kind of godly power. Mankind had harnessed it and dethroned demigods. It was magic at its most powerful. To speak a few words and have the universe obey. That was the pinnacle of magic.

Inbetween my meditation I read as much as I could on the language of dragons. There obviously wasn't much to read but I could get somewhere. Logic dictates that adding words to a shout, while not directly increasing power, would make it more accurate to what you want. Therefore I needed to know the language.

While reading I came upon a conclusion. If I could somehow take the soul of a dragon or dragon born and manipulate it, I could possibly take the connection either has to akatosh and 'upgrade' my soul. In this endeavor I'd obviously need to know soul magic on a level where I could combat the will of a dragon. If I wanted to change my soul to that of a dragon or get it close to that I'd need a massive amount of studying.

Good thing I could use a time blur to my advantage. I'd just need to make something to counter it. To begin I immediately looked into my Hexleg bot. Creating more was easy, so I immediately made a few and began work on a much more complicated version. It was based on the Dwemer sphere. The end product was a small skeletal robot on a ball like a Dwemer sphere. The head was just for the optics so I put a helmet over it to make him look like Alfred the butler. He was intentionally designed for me to be able to remove all but his core. I wanted it to be incredibly modular but also unique.

I couldn't give it powerful magic attacks so I made some extendable blades and a gun. The gun was a simple rifled barrel carved with magic and fired a small 22 caliber round. Some explosive magic gave it power but reduced the soul gem drain massively. The last defensive weapons I gave it was a basic ward and a lightning pulse to stun surrounding enemies.

Its personality was incredibly hard to make and I ended up going to Sergius for help. The process of making the bot was streamlined by him and I paid him for his help by dragging him to Mirabelle and getting her to patent the design in our names. We then built three more, on for him, one for mirabelle, and one for Arch-Mage Savos Aren.

I didn't see why he'd want one but we made him one anyway. After completing the bots I finally got to studying with my support spells. My Alfred bot would be keeping me relatively lucid as I tried to enter another time blur. It was nighttime when I finally entered the time blur, (as registered by Alfred) and I began actual study of every book on souls and related magics I could dig up.

Thus concludes my day thirty two survival log for this world.

Day Thirty Two Survival Log COMPLETE

Note for future EFE explorers: If something you're using has even the smallest chance of causing time blur, find some way to make yourself aware of it or something to stop the use of what is causing the time blur. This warning will be in all 'The Time Blur' logs.

Additional note for EFE explorers: If you find the the chance, always reference your old world and things in it. It is fun and helps oneself maintain sanity tough situations.
