♣ CHAPTER 29 ♣
Kate wakes up feeling light,she gets off the bed and walks into the bathroom and she freshen up.
Few minutes later,she was fully dressed up and she walked down from the stairs and enters the dining room. She sees her Mother-in-law,Mrs Dray , sitting in the dining room with William sitting opposite him.
"Good morning, Mrs Dray." Kate greeted and sits.
"Did I ask you to sit?" Mrs Dray asked angrily.
"Mom…!" William calls.
"Don't you dare call me that,if you want to call me Mom,then tell this trash to get out of this house."
"Do you really think I care about this marriage of a thing." Kate states, rolling her eyes.
"Seems you've grown wings. Now you have the guts to talk back to me." Mrs Dray shouted.
"I'm not a thing that you can just use as a leverage,then dump off like a trash."
Mrs Dray scoffs. "William this is what you call a wife, this trashy thing." She points toward Kate.
"She's not a trash Mom, she my wife!" William defended.
"Seems, she's feeded you something and now you are backing her up." She turns and grab his hand. "Gabriella is the best and the right woman for you, why are you wasting your time on a contract marriage that's not profitable, huh."
"Mom,you know the reason why I signed this marriage."
"I know but,she not making our reputation solid, she's breaking the pillars." She sigh. "Stop wasting your time on her,The Blackwood needs you, Gabriella needs you."
Kate stare at her with regret and disgust. She scoffs.
"Are you gonna have breakfast or move your drama to the acting company?" She said, sarcastically.
"Hey you!" Mrs Dray turns to her. "Let me give you an offer and a warning." She continue. "Pack your bags and leave my son alone or you face the consequences,or…"
"Do you think I'm scared of you?" Kate cuts in. "I'm not afraid of you, since my uncle can't do anything to me then what makes you different." She blurted out.
"I'm giving you two weeks to leave my son, but if you didn't leave,then you'll see my wrath." She stood up and storms off.
"You can't do anything,Mrs Dray. I'm not scared of Your tantrums,you can keep on dreaming." Kate shouted and chuckled.
"Kate, that was too harsh." William shared.
"I don't have anything to say to you." She picked a slice of bread and butter pickles and place it gently on her plates.
"You ain't gotta talk to me?" He asked.
"If I could remember clearly, yesterday night,you were giving me the silent treatment and acting as if nothing happen."
"What happen?"
"You happen!" She sip from her glass of water. " I'm, not have time for all this chitchat,you can you call Gabriella and have fun with her, I'm not in the mood." She munch on her food.
Few minutes later, she dressed up and go to work.
In her office, she tapped gently on the angle of the table. Her assistant ,Joyce,walks in.
"Ma'am, these are the files from the board directors." She placed in on the desk. "These are the one from New Zealand, and there are new investors."
"Did you make a proper inspection on these files?" She asked.
"Yes ma'am! I triple checked everything before presenting it to you."
"Okay… You can go."
"Yes ma'am." Joyce bow and walks out.
Kate go through the documents strictly and carefully, before sending it to the board directors. Later that evening,she gets a call from Tina.
"What's up Tinny?" Kate greeted, with a stressed voice.
"Nothing much, just about to check out from my company."
"Okay!"
"What are you doing this weekend?" Tina asked.
"Planning to meet with Jeremy on Saturday." Kate shared.
"What is it again?" Tina asked.
"Nothing,I just wanna ask him for some recordings." She explained.
"I thought,he didn't give you an accurate results, I'd have kick his ass." Tina said, jokingly.
"No that's not it."
"Are you going alone or should I tag along?" She asked, concern laced in her voice.
"No, Don't bother, I'll go alone."
"Okay!"
The call disconnects. Kate pull out her parents frame from the drawer. She placed her palm on her parent face,tears burned her eyes, threatening to fall but she fight it back.
"Mom,why did you leave me alone?" She sniffs. "And dad, Your brother isn't making things right. Can you just send a help over there?"
The door opens and Joyce walks in. Kate quickly put the frame back into the drawer and dried her face.
"Ma'am, the car is ready."
"Okay… I'll be right there."
William was in office, when his assistant, Liam, barged in without Knocking. They had been friends since highschool. Liam had no friends and family, but
William has been the only friend and family he has. Sometimes he acts like a real assistant and sometimes he acts like a real friend.
"William, check this out." Liam said, dropping the tablet on the table.
"What is it this time?" William asked, without raising his head.
"It's the guy from six years ago,I think he's back with some ulterior motives." He shared. "Look at the picture Jeremy sent to me,I found him around Mr Carlos."
William expression changed,he slammed his fist on the desk. Liam flinched.
"Easy, bro. It's not up to that, let's just keep on watching his moves."
"He's not gonna go Scot free this time." William said,venomously.
"Now, you're talking,I always love that cold side of you, keep on being cold." Liam wink at him.
William Rolled his eyes. "Tell Jeremy to keep an eye on him too, because I'm really gonna break bones this time."
"Okay, I'm on It." Liam turned to leave, but Liam words stopped him.
"When are you gonna get yourself a girlfriend?"
Liam turned. "What's your problem with me getting a girlfriend?"
"I don't know, but it seems you are getting too lonely." He smirked.
"I will get a girlfriend soon, Girls out there are not reliable, they only care about men's money. They don't love anymore."
"I have a feeling you will get yourself one."
"When did you turn into a matchmaker deity? You don't have to talk about anything, since you've get yourself a wife, then I should work on mine myself."
"Okay… If you say so, but still get yourself a girlfriend."
"Argh! You are so annoying." He stamped him leg and walks out.
"Things have to get serious." William clenched his fist.
