Linda's face twisted with disgust at the mere mention of Irina's name. The girl's very existence made her blood run cold, and she cursed herself for ever bringing that ungrateful wretch into her home.
"Listen carefully," Linda hissed at Annie, her voice sharp with warning. "I know you have a soft heart, but mark my words—once you get tangled up with trash like her, they'll sink their claws in and never let go."
Annie gave a slow nod, her voice barely above a whisper. "Her medical knowledge is remarkable, though. She completely outshined Erik today. Even Milo couldn't stop singing her praises." The memory made Annie's jaw clench with rage.
"What did you just say?" Linda's voice cracked like a whip, panic flooding her features. "Milo actually noticed her?"
If Milo had his eye on Irina, everything they'd worked for would crumble to dust.
Annie quickly shook her head. "Not romantically. He's just fascinated by her skills. He even mentioned her to his grandsons."
