Chapter 13 - Goldilocks

A girl with golden blonde hair was fast asleep on a soft and comfortable-looking bed, and I felt bad about waking her up.

But this was the home of a murderous family.

I approached the table and looked at one of the photos on it, showing a husband and wife and the girl standing together like a harmonious family.

But I noticed something strange: the girl named Goldilocks looked nervous and out of place.

I removed the photo from its frame and saw that Goldilocks was just a sticker. I quickly peeled off the sticker and saw a boy with a big smile.

He was the real son of the husband and wife.

Before I could put the photo and frame back together, I heard the sound of heavy footsteps.

"They're back."

I hurriedly put the items in my hand away and approached Goldilocks—the door opened.

I turned and saw a man with a large body and a terrifying face, "Intruder!" he shouted, immediately charging at me.

I turned around and kicked the window in front of me, shattering it and creating an escape route for me.

I jumped into the nearest bushes and immediately summoned my shotgun. Peering out from the bushes, I saw the man looking around with an angry expression.

I placed my finger on the trigger and—BANG—a bullet flew towards him, aiming straight for his heart to finish this quickly.

But the man turned around quickly, and in his hand was some kind of claw-like tool that shredded my bullet to pieces.

"He has an Everafter?" I was stunned to realise that.

"So that's where you are!" He shouted, running towards me. I immediately scrambled to find another hiding spot.

Why do my enemies always have anger issues, I wonder?

But the man had blocked my path; it seemed that hiding was not an option, so I took aim and fired continuously.

The man deftly dodged all the bullets that flew at him—but not all of them.

One of my bullets managed to hit his front shoulder and it immediately burst open, blood spattering everywhere. The man paused briefly before shouting angrily, "Bring that girl here!"

"—?!" I turned and saw his wife, carrying a frightened and trembling Goldilocks out of the house.

In his hand was a knife that pointed at Goldilocks' neck. The man stared at me sharply with a terrible smile, "If you fight back, I will kill her!"

"Tch" I put down my shotgun. Mother said that the child must not be killed or hurt in any way, and I myself couldn't bear to see the child hurt.

The man laughed hysterically and ran towards me. When he was very close, he immediately clawed at me with his Everafter.

Blood began to pour from my body. The man continued to claw at me repeatedly and I began to lose consciousness.

My head was spinning and my vision was blurred, but I had to remain standing and couldn't even fall to my knees in front of him.

Until the final attack—the claw pierced my stomach and I immediately vomited blood.

I was then left lying on the ground, the green grass turning red, and I was still thinking of a way to turn the situation around.

If I were fast enough....

TWANG!—WOOSHH—THUNK!

I tried to see clearly and was startled when an arrow stuck in the man's eye. I turned and saw a man with a bow in his hand, standing casually on a tree. Soon after, I heard the sound of footsteps moving very quickly.

A blonde girl with a blue ribbon in her hair appeared. Even though it was faint, I could hear her muttering irritably. "How dare he..."

From her shoulder, a white rabbit jumped and sat on my body. "Mimi...?" The rabbit tilted its head and looked at me as if I were some kind of rare creature.

"What is Mother thinking?" The girl, who was none other than Alice, looked very angry and when she got angry—she could literally lose her mind.

I feel the bleeding has started to stop and the hole in my stomach is slowly closing, though the pain is still very bad.

Robin Hood, the person we were supposed to be hunting now instead jumped towards me and started treating my wound.

"You two really can't be separated, can you?" Robin said as he started to bandage my wound, but he realised that the part that needed to be bandaged was quite sensitive.

Robin hesitated and didn't move at all. "Are you going to let me bleed to death here?" I said, taking the bandages from his hands.

Robin just sighed and turned away. I was quite surprised that he was such a gentleman. I started to bandage my stomach, my shoulder, and other areas that were still bleeding.

After bandaging myself, I saw Alice get off the couple's bodies lying on the ground without any resistance while carrying Goldilocks; it seemed like she had finished off that pair.

When I tried to stand up, I immediately fell to my knees. My condition was still severe—there wasn't even a fraction of a second before I fell back to the ground and lost consciousness.
