Chapter 9 - 9

If Ronnie had continued practicing fire magic, his ice constitution might have truly vanished upon reaching the intermediate level of magic. However, at that moment, Ronnie obtained the Ice Goddess Stone. As a top-tier magical gem, the Ice Goddess Stone contained the purest ice elemental energy, which silently activated Ronnie's ice constitution, forcing his original fire magic power to the other half of his body. Ronnie's fire magic power was already impure, constantly influenced by his ice constitution. With the appearance of the Ice Goddess Stone, Ronnie's fire magic power was able to separate the ice elements that hindered his further growth. Therefore, now both his ice and fire magic powers are extremely pure.

Ronnie has been practicing magic since he was five years old, for five years now. The number of magicians on the continent of Yangon is extremely small, primarily because the cultivation of magic is incredibly difficult. If a martial artist can achieve some success in three years, at least reaching a minor level of mastery, then a mage, without at least ten years of meditation in the early stages, simply cannot reach the level of an intermediate mage. Even an intermediate mage, in a one-on-one battle, might not be able to defeat a martial artist who has only trained for three years; the casting time is their biggest drawback. Therefore, very few people choose to cultivate magic, and even fewer successfully communicate with the magical elements and enter the intermediate mage realm. However, the existence of mages is clearly necessary. While they are at a disadvantage in one-on-one combat, they are indispensable in legion-level battles. Especially the large-area destructive spells cast by advanced mages, which can often change the entire course of a battle. Therefore, even though cultivating as a mage is difficult, there is always a reason for their existence.

Ronnie successfully reached the level of a beginner mage last year, which Ragnar considered very fast. However, he didn't know that Ronnie's innate talent for magic was exceptional; if it weren't for the influence of his ice constitution, his progress would have been even faster. At this moment, thanks to the effects of the Ice Goddess Stone and the Fire God Stone, the long-standing problem finally disappeared. Since he was only a novice mage, neither his fire nor water elemental powers were very strong, so they could temporarily maintain a balance within his body. While the previous problem was gone, a new one arose: ice and fire were incompatible. What would happen if he continued meditating like this? Would they remain peaceful indefinitely? Ronnie didn't know the answer, nor did he know what to do. Cultivating magic was difficult, but relinquishing a magical power within him was even more difficult. Unless he had the help of a mage three ranks higher than himself, success was impossible. And where could he find a mage now?

Lying flat on the bed, Ronnie pondered these questions. The sensation of cold on one side and heat on the other wasn't comfortable, but it didn't cause him excessive discomfort either. What should he do? Continue meditating like this? Although the ice and fire magical powers were not abundant, they felt very solid. Perhaps this was the effect of the two gems. There was no other way now. To avenge himself, he needed greater strength. Since he couldn't abandon his magical training, he could only continue, taking it one step at a time. Perhaps, in the future, when his magic became stronger, he would find a solution. Thinking this, Ronnie no longer hesitated and finally began his first meditation since separating his ice and fire magic. With the help of the two gems, the two magical elements of ice and fire rapidly converged into his body, and soon he entered a meditative state.

At dawn, the chirping of insects and birds filled the peach blossom grove. Chambers, who hadn't slept all night, got up early.

"Lazybones, get up." Chambers pushed open the door.

Ronnie had only recently awakened from his meditation, feeling refreshed and invigorated. An unprecedented sense of comfort made him groan softly, instinctively stretching. Of course, amidst this comfort, there was also a strange feeling; the different temperatures on his two sides seemed to have become even more pronounced.

Seeing Chambers, Ronnie smiled slightly and said, "Master, you're up so early!"

Chambers had been worried that his hypnosis wouldn't work, but hearing Ronnie call him "Master," he immediately breathed a sigh of relief, smiled slightly, and said, "Early? Not at all. Get up quickly. From today onwards, Master will formally teach you cooking."

"Okay." Seeing that Chambers didn't doubt him, Ronnie quickly got up, carefully put away the two gems while Chambers weren't looking, tidied the room briefly, and then followed Chambers out.

"Master, where do we begin?" Ronnie asked curiously. Having figured out the matter of hatred, he seemed much more lively than yesterday, his childlike anticipation for new things evident.

Chambers smiled slightly and said, "I already figured it out yesterday. I've arranged a daily learning program for you. At least for now, you just need to follow this program. Ronnie, do you know what the first thing you have to go through to become a good chef?"

Ronnie shook his head in confusion. "I've never learned this before, how would I know?"

Chambers said seriously, "To become a good chef, you must first go through a process—a process of becoming familiar with food. Only when you are completely familiar with all the flavors of food and know how to appreciate and taste them can you become a qualified chef. So, starting today, you will taste every dish I make to hone your palate." "Senses of smell and taste."

Ronnie paused for a moment, then quickly realized, "Master, you don't mean I should just eat all day? That's how I learn to cook?"

Chambers chuckled, "Cooking is an art, and eating is an art too.
