Ficool

Chapter 5 - 5

I can't believe this.

She is is absolutely adorable.

She's so sweet, scratching her little whiskers stained with the milk in the bowl.

"Meow."

She purred at me and climbed onto my lap.

"Are you full, little one?" I cooed, lifting her in my arms gently rubbing her beautiful fur.

Her fur was shiny jet black with a faint tint of purple and her eyes? Beautiful.

It was cloudy grey with blue orbs. It looks mystical.

Might sound weird, but I just found a cat in my – house?

Not only that, I made sure everywhere was locked. Then how come?

Nah, might have sneaked in as I opened my door – yeah?

"Meoooww"

"Aww Moonie you sleepy? Alright time to go to bed."

Yeah, Moonie sounds nice cause like I found her under the gleam light of the moon in my kitchen.

Standing up, I gently cradled her in my arms and went back to my room.

I made a makeshift bed from old clothes and a little blanket and laid her there.

She let out a loud purr in appreciation as she stretched her body, curling up in a fetus position.

Sleep had caught up with me as my eyelids fell heavier within seconds.

I checked my phone, it was already 4:00 am.

Wow.

I just slumped on to my bed and dozed off.

Ben's gonna have my head tomorrow morning.

Just great.

***

'beep bee-

CRACK!

Crap, I just threw my phone.

I threw away my covers and ran for it.

I turned it on and it was fine, just a slight crack.

Shit! I'm late!!

Again.

I immediately rushed to my bathroom, did some washing up and got ready for work.

"Aah!"

Moonie just sat on my window pane silently watching my movements the whole time.

Without a word.

Mind you, she just sat glaring at me.

Am I missing something?

Oh, her food.

"Oh baby, I'm really sorry, let me just…

I carried her to the kitchen and fed her some warm milk and some leftovers.

"Okay sweetie I need to leave for work now, later we'll go shopping for cat food and other items. Okay?"

Not even a glance.

Maybe it's her way of appreciating me since she hasn't attacked me.

I locked my door and walked to the elevator.

Memories of last night came flooding back.

Even though I still have no idea on how Moonie snuck into my apartment, I couldn't discard that feeling of fear I had.

As I entered the elevator, every glance I made reminded me so much of it.

And I was the only one inside.

Thank goodness it's still morning.

Then in the evening time I'll call the police for investigations.

At this point, I didn't care if I was late to work or not, I just got in my car and drove off, ready to get this day over with.

**

"You had fun last night?"

"Leah!"

I groaned with a playful roll of my eyes at her.

"What! I'm just trying to know how you're doing, nothing much…I know you had fun."

She said, wiggling her eyebrows.

Oh goodness.

"No."

Work today has been less stressful compared to the last.

I was almost done with filing the documents Ben sent.

"Okay but seriously…are you okay? You seemed out of it since you came." She fully faced me this time. Her voice had concern in it.

"What are you talking about?" I too faced her. I haven't been acting weird or anything since I came in the morning.

"I don't know…everyone just seemed off today." She sighed tiredly letting out a deep breath and relaxed back on her seat.

I arched an eyebrow at her, seeming confused at this point.

"What do you mean Leah?"

"It's just…nevermind. Maybe I might be the delusional one here." She said getting back to work.

I wanted to push her more to talk but it was better if I gave her space.

She'll tell me when she wants and feel free.

But she might actually be onto something.

This morning Ben wasn't how he usually acted in work, he was infact…kind?

More gently, he appreciated my work twice today and even shared coffee with everyone.

Maybe he's just in a happy mood, I guess.

I started packing up as I filed the last document.

4:52 pm!

Wow, I really did overwork today.

And I still need to go shopping.

Rushing up I left my office and was about to leave.

'Are you sure about this?'

I heard a voice speak as I passed by Killian's office.

That was a female voice. It sounded familiar but I couldn't quite put my finger on who it was.

'Yes, I promise not to tell anyone. Just please–"

Killian?

I sprinted out fast immediately.

I didn't want to stay longer because of Moonie.

But surely I'll find out through Leah. No gossip passes her by.

**

Reaching home, I packed my car in.

I looked around and today a few cars were around.

I used this opportunity and rushed to the elevator heading straight to my apartment.

The empty breezy and homey smell of my apartment welcomed me in.

I slumped on the couch feeling relieved to be back.

It was really quiet and I got so worried because I didn't find moonie in sight.

My first instinct was to check under the couch where I was lying on.

Slowly, I bent a little arching my back off the couch and sighted the little tail of Moonie under.

She was asleep.

Poor Moonie.

I haven't fed her in a while, she must have slept from hunger.

"Hi little one." I cooed, gently carried her into my arms.

She hissed but calmed immediately sniffing my shirt.

Oh baby.

"Moonie, let's go shopping and buy you some food and toys –yeah?" I spoke, rubbing her head gently.

She meow wriggling in my arms as if not in support.

"Well I wasn't asking either." I said and carried her out of my apartment.

Come rain, come sunshine. We must buy the necessities needed.

And that includes not worrying about time.

Buckled up, I drove straight to the mall.

5:47

Almost closing time – nothing's still stopping me.

"Alright girl, you should choose whatever you like." I said and dropped her on her tiny feet.

She gently stretched, scrubbing her whiskers with her little paws.

I'm gonna melt.

The first aisle we reached was pet food.

I grabbed some tuna and some pet snacks.

"This or.. this one?" I squatted displaying the two snacks to her face.

She purred pointing to the one on my left.

The roasted biscuit –fish flavour.

Interesting choice.

And the packaging was quite attractive which must be why she picked it.

I put it in the minicart along with Moonie.

We were about to move towards the pet accessories aisle when I sighted a strange figure at the end of the aisle.

And it was staring straight at me.

I felt this sickening sensation crawl over my body.

I carefully reversed my cart, slowly walking to the next one when I saw it move.

Okay, don't panic. It's just someone doing their own grocery.

Entering the next aisle, I was about to grab a stuffed rat toy when I felt a small cool breeze swift through.

Goosebumps formed in my body. I could literally feel my heartbeats in every part of my body.

And there it was.

In black hoodie and blue jeans coming towards me at full speed.

I grabbed Moonie and ran screaming for help.

But there was nobody in sight.

I was covered in sweat, and my whole body was trembling with my head pounding.

I hid behind an aisle but luck wasn't on my side as he charged towards me.

I first saw black dots collapsing with Moonie in my arms, as he approached closer.

The last thing I saw was the shoes before the darkness took over.
