Chapter 3 - chapter:3 The Reaper Awakens

From here on, we will call the main character Leo.

Leo's eyes slowly opened. His vision was blurry at first, then sharpened as the familiar ceiling of his bedroom came into view.

A worried voice trembled beside him.

"Y-Young Master, are you alright?" the butler asked. "I already informed the doctors. They are on the way."

Leo exhaled, annoyed.

"We don't need to call anyone."

"But Young Master," the butler insisted, voice shaking, "after Lady Evelyn came yesterday to break off the engagement… I truly thought you would do something dangerous. I've watched you grow up. I know how much you loved her."

Leo remained silent for a moment. Then he turned to the window, his expression unreadable.

"What is your name?" he asked suddenly.

The butler blinked, confused.

"M-My name? Master Leo, did something happen to you? I'm David. I've served you for ten years. Are you sure you're alright? I will call the doctor—"

"No."

Leo's voice was calm—cold and steady.

"I just seem to have lost a few memories after waking up, that's all. Bring me some black coffee."

Butler David bowed immediately.

"Yes, Master. Right away."

After the butler left, silence filled the room.

Leo slowly walked to the mirror. A smirk appeared on his face.

"A weak, heartbroken young man… pathetic," he whispered to his reflection.

"What a miserable fool. You died inside for a woman who didn't even care about you. You were indeed a waste who needed to die."

His smirk widened into something darker.

"Kang… you're indeed a lucky fellow," he said to himself with a low laugh.

"Ha… ha… why did you become a soldier who survived hell, killed hundreds of people, and climbed to the rank of general?"

Kang—now Leo—stared at his new body in the mirror.

"Because I wanted people to obey me. Respect me. I want to be a ruler who controls people."

His eyes sharpened with new life—no… a new hunger.

"I never endured hardship to be a hero. How disgusting. I fought to rule. To control. To bend people to my will."

He lowered his head slightly… then laughed.

A cold, demonic laugh.

"Haa… haa… haa… haa…"

"And the fucking god gave me a second chance in this world? Interesting."

He walked to the window and looked over the beautiful kingdom.

Here, I don't want to be controlled by rules. I can make my own rules. I can become the man people call a god and enjoy my fucking killing.

"No one can stop me. Dukes… Kings… even if God himself comes to this world, he needs to obey me."

"This world is going to be ruled by me—The Reaper."

He laughed—laughed like a demon crawling up from hell. His laughter echoed through the room, growing louder, deeper… until it didn't sound like the old Leo at all.

Leo's twisted laugh slowly died down. The grin on his face faded… replaced by a cold, emotionless stare.

Then—

[SYSTEM INITIALIZING…]

A pale blue light flickered in front of him, forming into a translucent screen.

[Choose your Path]

Hero

Villain

Leo didn't move. He simply stared at the choices. A slow smile crawled across his lips.

"Hero? Villain?" he whispered. "So even you want to put me in a box."

He lifted his hand—then canceled both choices.

The system froze.

[ERROR… Path selection cancelled.] [Reason?]

Leo stepped closer to the glowing screen, his voice lowering into a dark whisper.

"I don't want to become a hero… or a villain." His eyes sharpened.

"I want to be the ruler who commands both. I want to control this world—and everything living in it."

Silence. The system didn't respond.

1 second.

2 seconds.

5.

Then the blue interface began to distort—glitching, shaking—as if something inside was laughing. A creepy smile appeared on the screen. The blue glow darkened… darker… until it became a deep, abyss-like black.

[Path Accepted.]

The interface reshaped itself, symbols twisting like living shadows.

[SYSTEM EVOLUTION COMPLETE]

The letters burned in crimson.

[WELCOME TO—]

The screen cracked like glass.

[DOMINION SYSTEM]

A cold wind swept through the room.

Leo grinned.

"Perfect."

The Dominion System flashed again.

[Showing first task…]

[Task 1: Lift your mana power to maximum.]

Leo stared at the system and gave a small smile, then pressed OK.

Suddenly—

Leo felt the system's voice echo inside his mind.

[Lifting your mana power to maximum…]

Suddenly, he felt his mana and power rising—fast. A burning sensation shot through his body.

The pain was extreme, enough to make him fall to the floor… but his smile only grew even creepier.

20… 30… 50… 70… 90… 100…

[Maximized.]

It was finally over.

Leo breathed calmly as he lay on the ground. He looked at the system screen—his mana had become Infinity.

He stood up slowly and said to the system,

"Good boy."

Just then, the door opened. Butler David entered with black coffee in hand.

He handed it to Leo and asked, "Young Master… why do you look sweaty?"

Leo replied, "Nothing. I was just exercising

Then system showed:

Name: David

Age: 50

Path : Swordsman

Rank : Swordmaster

Threat Level: SS-Rank

Description: Black Squad Leader of Rosard.

Leo thought: So he is not a normal butler.

David spoke again, "Young Master, Master Drake Rosard wants to meet you. He asked you to come."

Leo thought: Why the hell does he need to meet me now? Whatever… I'll just go and see what the kingdom's best swordsman looks like.

"Tell the Duke I'll be there soon," he said calmly.

David nodded, closed the door, and left.

A dangerous smile curled on Leo's lips.

The real show is about to begin.
