The campus glowed under winter lights.
Yu Zhen and Lian Xuan walked side by side along the narrow river path, shoulders brushing every few steps. Breath fogged faintly in the air.
The world here was quieter than the palace had ever been. There were no blades waiting in darkness.
Just benches.
Trees.
Footsteps in the distance.
Yu Zhen leaned lightly into Lian Xuan's side as they walked.
"You're more relaxed here," Yu Zhen observed.
"I don't have to watch ten assassination routes at once," Lian Xuan replied dryly. "Only five."
Yu Zhen laughed.
When they reached the bridge railing, they stopped. Water reflected the stars like shattered crystal beneath them.
The soul-thread pulsed gently.
Yu Zhen's chest felt warm.
"I remembered more today in the library," he said quietly.
Lian Xuan turned fully toward him at once.
"What did you see?"
"Your hands," Yu Zhen answered. "They were bleeding. I was holding them even though the battlefield was falling apart around us."
Lian Xuan closed the distance without thinking.
He pulled Yu Zhen into a full embrace and pressed his cheek against his silver hair.
"Then let me tell you something," he whispered. "I remember holding you when the sky tore open and light swallowed the earth."
Yu Zhen froze.
"You're remembering too."
"A little," Lian Xuan admitted. "Enough to know this isn't our first beginning."
The light from the bridge lanterns rippled strangely.
The memory surge struck both of them at once.
[SYSTEM EVENT][MEMORY FRAGMENT 2 FINAL STABILIZATION][SOUL THREAD HIGH-LEVEL RESTORED CONNECTION]
Vision took them.
The beach of fallen stars.A promise sworn beneath collapsing heavens.Silver threads binding golden hearts.
Their bodies remained standing on the bridge, arms around each other, while eternity whispered through their senses.
Lian Xuan tightened the embrace until Yu Zhen felt anchored by it.
"I don't know every detail," he said quietly. "But I know that loving you has never been optional. Only inevitable."
Yu Zhen felt tears gather but did not let them fall.
"I used to think the system guided us."
Lian Xuan drew back just enough to look at him fully. "And now."
"I think we guide it."
The lantern light shimmered over their faces as realisation settled.
Yu Zhen lifted onto his toes and kissed Lian Xuan slowly.
The kiss deepened naturally, warmth pooling between them without urgency or dominance.
When it finally broke, Yu Zhen rested his forehead on Lian Xuan's.
"Whatever world waits next…"
Lian Xuan squeezed him gently. "I'll follow."
The system chimed almost in agreement.
[WORLD TRANSFER PREPARATION ACTIVE][MEMORY FRAGMENT 2 COMPLETE][SOUL THREAD LEVEL STRONG]
Yu Zhen remained folded into Lian Xuan's arms, unmoving.
"This world felt peaceful," he said softly.
"It taught us how to love without war," Lian Xuan answered. "We needed that."
They stood in silence until the cold finally drove them back toward the dorm lights.
And neither noticed the faint shimmer beginning to build behind them.
Memory Fragment 2 fully restored.Shared emotional awareness established.Their bond is now conscious, chosen, and stable across worlds.
