Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Unlimited Currency Storage Unlocked

"What… what kind of achievements are these?"

Dylan stared, stunned. Beside him, Coalball stuck out its tongue and licked his palm.

"Mrr…"

"Good boy, go play over there for a bit."

Dylan rubbed the Shadow Wyrm's head.

Then he carefully went through the achievements he had just unlocked.

"'Massively boosted Dark magic affinity'? 'Three max-level high-tier forbidden spells'? 'Cast Dark magic without negative emotions'???"

Dylan smacked his lips.

Was this system actually serious?

"Are you sure you're an achievement system? Why do you feel like a Dark magic system wearing an achievement system's skin?"

He was beginning to have doubts.

He scrolled for quite a while

before finally reaching the new achievements.

——————————

"Uh… so Dark magic gets stacked, multiplied boosts, but regular magic affinity and potion affinity only go up by one?"

Dylan felt a bit embarrassed.

Still, all these achievement rewards added up to quite a haul.

He excitedly began to tally everything up.

First, the Dark magic talent.

Not only had his affinity for Dark magic skyrocketed,

he had also gained the ability to cast Dark magic without being affected by negative emotions!

On top of that, he felt that no matter which forbidden spell he tried to learn now, he could probably master it very quickly.

He also had the distinct sense that if he used the Unforgivable Curses again, they would be even more powerful than before.

"With Dark magic talent like this, if I really went Dark, those Death Eaters wouldn't be worshipping Voldemort or Grindelwald anymore. They'd be lining up to kneel to me."

When he looked at the achievement "I Really Am a Good Kid,"

he noticed that its reward actually made it impossible for anyone to indirectly track any magical traces he left behind!

In other words, if anyone wanted to know what magic he had used, they would have to be there in person and see it with their own eyes!

And eyes could be fooled!

Dylan was extremely satisfied with this reward.

It was just too useful.

If one day he was ever truly forced into a situation where he had no choice but to use an Unforgivable Curse,

as long as he dealt with the target on the spot, no one would be able to trace it back to him afterward.

The benefits from these rewards made Dylan feel that being called a Dark Lord did not sound all that unacceptable anymore.

What was wrong with embracing the darkness?

The darkness was lonely too, all right!

"But no idea which three Dark spells I'll draw this time."

He looked up at the three black light-orbs that came with the achievement reward, now drifting at the top of the panel like black stars.

He clicked them one by one.

In an instant, the black stars burst with a blinding radiance.

That familiar sensation swept over him again.

In the span of a heartbeat, he had mastered one—or rather, three—new spells.

[Message]: Congratulations, you have mastered the max-level spell—Fiendfyre!

[Message]: Congratulations, you have mastered the max-level spell—Morsmordre!

[Message]: Congratulations, you have mastered the max-level spell—Parasitopossio!

"These Dark spells…"

He recognized the first two: Fiendfyre and the Dark Mark.

Fiendfyre could even destroy Horcruxes.

It was one of the few things capable of doing so, its power far beyond ordinary conjured fire, and normal water could not put it out at all.

Morsmordre summoned a giant skull—essentially a signal flare—but it could also intimidate spirits and evil entities to some extent.

As for the last one, the Parasite Possession Curse—

A brief probe told Dylan that this Dark spell could forcibly affect a living being on the verge of death, transferring it into another living body.

That way, the latter's life force could be used to sustain the former's existence.

But what the fused result would ultimately look like, no one could say.

The first thing that came to Dylan's mind with that spell was Professor Quirrell's back-of-the-head situation.

"Eugh…" A shudder ran through him.

"This is a bit too evil, even for Dark magic…"

Dylan shook his head.

By now he had learned a full six Dark spells.

And every single one was high-level Dark magic, some even Unforgivable Curses—

each more vile than the last.

"Unbelievable…"

Fortunately, the later achievement rewards were not bad either.

"Unlimited currency storage? Storage space?"

He took a look.

When he opened the wizard hat icon,

he saw that there was now an extra information section.

————————

[Name]: Dylan Hawkwood

[Magic]: Fiendfyre, Crucio, Imperio, Morsmordre, Parasitopossio, Avada Kedavra

[Items]: None

——————————

After examining it, it seemed clear that the storage space reward allowed him to store items he acquired outside the system's own rewards,

which would then appear in the [Items] section.

Unlimited currency storage was even easier to understand.

The newly added Money field in his info panel was the new slot the system had just unlocked.

"So that means I can store all my money and items directly inside the system panel?"
