Chapter 15: ( It's her birthday let's go)
Lei Zhang laid on the couch faced up in the living room, his eyes on the wall clock as he waited for Xiao Yanran.
His phone on the middle table suddenly began ringing and he immediately sat up. He took the phone and seeing the caller was Xiao Yanran he immediately picked up.
"Hello, sir Lei",
Xiao Yanran's voice came through the phone and Lei Zhang frowned obviously not happy from the mention of sir from her. His employees could call him sir if they wanted but not her. He had told her to call him by his name so many times but she always still used the sir even though he was just eight years older than her.
"Hello Yanran", he said.
"I'm sorry but I won't be coming for tutoring today. Actually today's my birthday so I won't be coming for tutoring", she said.
"Today's your birthday?, would you love to go out?", Lei Zhang asked.
"No thank you but I've got other plans ", she said.
"What are your plans?",
he asked and from the other end of the phone, Xiao Yanran was already confused, she had only planned to call him and tell him she wasn't coming, she didn't expect to get tangled in a question and answer situation.
"Nothing, just planning to enjoy it with a neighbor and a friend ", Xiao Yanran said.
"A friend?, which friend? ",
Lei Zhang asked as if he was a father interrogating his daughter.
"Just the guy I told you usually covers for me back then at work ",
Xiao Yanran said and Lei Zhang felt his heart beat faster.
"Why him?",
Lei Zhang asked and she was completely confused, his questions kept getting weirder and weirder.
"Actually it was just me and my neighbor, we planned to have cakes and fresh milk tonight but we need someone to milk the cow, he's all I could think of ",
Xiao Yanran said still confused why she was even explaining all of this to him.
"I can milk a cow ",
Lei Zhang suddenly said not even knowing when the words came out of his mouth.
"Oh, okay, so would you want to come instead and help us out?", she asked.
"Yes, text me the address",
he said ending the call as Xiao Yanran texted him the address still confused at Lei Zhang's reaction, this home tutor of hers was indeed really strange.
Lei Zhang checked the time on the wall clock, it was just few minutes past two. He hurriedly tapped on Xu Jin's contact and the call went through on the first ring.
"Xu Jin get here now!",
Lei Zhang said ending the call immediately without giving Xu Jin a chance to say a thing, then went online to watch a cow milking tutorial. He clearly knew nothing about milking a cow.
Xu Jin on the other hand stood in one of the the passageways of Titan Core glaring at the phone as if Lei Zhang's face was on the screen.
"What on earth was wrong with that guy, always switching emotions like a girl on her period, just what on earth did Xiao Yanran do to him",
Xu Jin thought to himself immediately leaving the company to the car and driving off.

Li Wen walked sadly on the roads of Fengxian. Her eyes were wet, tears threatening to fall out.
She had planned to tell Xiao Yanran what was going on with her but seeing Xiao Yanran finally a bit happy now Xiao Wan was gone, she didn't want to deliver a bad news, especially on her birthday.
Li Wen's parents were going to force her into a marriage when she graduated from highschool. Not wanting to bother Xiao Yanran, she had lied that she and her parents were going to Central Shanghai to meet her aunt but actually the man they wanted her to marry would soon be relocating to Beijing so they had wanted her to meet him at Central Shanghai before he did.
She had cried all night through the days at Central Shanghai, she couldn't believe her parents were actually going to force her into a marriage just because the man was quite rich.
She had planned to tell Xiao Yanran about all of these when she got back but seeing Xiao Yanran having a good time, she didn't want to spoil it.
She left the sidewalk into the road to cross over forgetting to look if a car was coming and almost got hit by a car luckily, the car was stopped in time.
Xu Jin who was the driver was relieved to have finally entered Fengxian after the almost two hours drive. He reduced his speed due to the potholes on the road but finally getting into a clear road, he was about increasing speed when a girl suddenly stepped into the road and his leg immediately hit the brakes and the car stopped just an inch from her.
He first heaved a sigh of relief before angrily getting out of the car ready to give this girl some serious scolding and realizing that it was the same girl he had encountered a week ago that had destroyed his front seat window, he got even angrier .
"You again, are you some kind of demon that appears out of nowhere anytime I arrive at Fengxian",
Xu Jin yelled but was shocked when he saw a tear drop from her eyes. If he could vividly remember, the girl he encountered a week ago acted like a lunatic but today's encounter seemed different.
On the other hand, when Xu Jin had stepped out of the car, Li Wen had immediately recognized him as the driver that splashed mud on her and also finally realized why Xu Jun and Xu Yun had looked so familiar, they looked exactly like him but like a younger version of him without having his silver eyeballs.
He began yelling at her and if she was herself like any normal day, she would have kicked his mouth shut but she was really in an emotional moment, the thought of having to marry someone she doesn't love who was also far older than her after graduation was already enough pain and with tears rolling down her cheeks, she quickly walked away.
Xu Jin watched her disappear and was quite confused. What on earth just happened, why did he suddenly feel like the bad guy.
Arriving at fortune pavilion, he went straight to Lei Zhang's apartment and knocked. The door immediately opened with Lei Zhang rushing out and locking the door behind him not even giving Xu Jin a chance to come in.
"What's the rush", Xu Jin asked.
"It's her birthday, let's go",
Lei Zhang said grabbing Xu Jin's hand and dragging him out.
Leaving fortune pavilion, Lei Zhang immediately got into the front seat then turned to look at Xu Jin through the window who hadn't still gotten into the car.
"Aren't you going to get in?", Lei Zhang said.
"I don't feel like driving, if you really want to go for your crush's birthday then you drive while I stay at the front seat",
Xu Jin said and Lei Zhang immediately left the front seat not having the time to argue with Xu Jin. He really didn't want Xiao Yanran to end up calling that male friend of hers.
Lei Zhang got into the driver's seat while Xu Jin sat at the front seat and he immediately started the car driving off.
Xu Jin began regretting why he had told this guy to drive cause he was speeding. What was so serious about this birthday that got him driving madly.
"Do you want to get us killed, slow down",
Xu Jin yelled at him but didn't get any reply.
Finally arriving at the address Xiao Yanran had sent him, Xu Jin was the first to get out of the car, sick of Lei Zhang's driving.
"Why did you even have to bring me here?", Xu Jin asked.
"To milk a cow" Lei Zhang said.
"To milk a what?",
Xu Jin asked again to be sure he heard correctly but Lei Zhang didn't reply and hurried into the yard.
Xiao Yanran was seated at a table with Mr Chen at his porch.
The porch was wide so they had kept a short but wide table and pillows on the floor sitting and having tea. Seeing Lei Zhang and Xu Jin arriving, she smiled and sat up.
"Good evening sir Lei",
she greeted bowing respectfully and Lei Zhang nodded then turned to look at Mr Chen.
"Good evening sir",
Lei Zhang greeted bowing respectfully and Xu Jin did the same.
"Sir Chen, this is my home tutor I told you about, Sir Lei Zhang", she said.
"Just Lei Zhang",
Lei Zhang said then Xiao Yanran's eyes finally landed on Xu Jin recognizing him as the guy who had dropped Lei Zhang the day she came to pick him with her bicycle.
"Isn't he the taxi driver",
Xiao Yanran said shocking Xu Jin.
"Taxi driver?", Xu Jin questioned.
"Yes he's a taxi driver but we're also childhood friends ",
Lei Zhang butted in and Xu Jin glared at him.
"Well it's good to have you two, this old man is too tired to milk a cow, thanks for volunteering",
Mr Chen said, shocking Xu Jin.
"Milk a cow?, I didn't volun...."
Lei Zhang immediately stopped Xu Jin from finishing his words by clasping his hands over his mouth.
"Of cause it's Yanran's birthday, we'd love to help",
Lei Zhang said and Xu Jin glared at him wishing he could bite Lei Zhang's hand from his mouth.
"Alright, I'll take you to the barn",
Xiao Yanran said and Lei Zhang finally let go of Xu Jin's mouth as they both followed behind Xiao Yanran.
Arriving at the barn, they could get the stench of cow poo and they both took their hands to their noses.
"Here's a bucket, you guys can milk, I'll be with Mr Chen",
Xiao Yanran said leaving them in the barn.
Their eyes turned to look at the cow chewing hay while giving them a look as if asking who the hell were these strangers and Xu Jin couldn't help but slam his palm on his forehead.
