The village was rather small, but it was easy to tell that life here was quite comfortable. Children in fur jackets ran around, playing with wooden swords. They were reenacting a battle.
"Put some clothes on, you disgusting thing!" an older woman shouted.
"Huh?" In that moment, I realized that I wasn't wearing anything at all. And what was wrong with my skin...? I had never seen skin so pale and unnaturally bright before...
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize I wasn't wearing anything. Please forgive me." I bowed as an act of apology, but the older woman still looked at me with disgust before finally throwing a thick fur coat at me. I caught it with ease.
"You're not from around here, are you? We rarely get visitors. Forgive me for insulting you, but please put this on. We don't want to frighten anyone."
I did as she said and quickly put the coat on. The air suddenly felt much more comfortable once I stopped shivering.
"Thank you very much. Could you please tell me where we are?"
"We are in Snæland. It's not a very busy place here, but it is a beautiful one. Especially for—"
A loud ringing of bells suddenly filled the air, and I saw the fear in the woman's eyes. The children dropped their wooden swords and froze for a second before they all ran into their homes.
"What is that...?"
Then I saw it. A massive ship was docking at the village's small pier.
