Chapter 12 - Weapon Arsenal

The spear flew at an enormous speed, but not toward me. I quickly looked at the red and orange glowing spear as it flew directly toward the woman at an incredible speed. Time suddenly seemed to slow down in my eyes. How could I let this happen? An old woman who had come to save me... Was I really supposed to just watch her die? Never.

Suddenly, I was standing directly in front of her. The spear was only moving slowly toward me. No, it wasn't the spear that was moving slowly. My perception was making everything look slow. How had I managed to get here so quickly?

The colors of the spear were beautiful. It looked like a weapon with a story behind it. I closed my eyes. This woman would be dead in a few seconds, and so would I, since I was now standing in the spear's path. What could I do to save this woman, myself, and the entire village from these inhumane people? Then I felt it. What was this feeling? It was as if I had unlocked a new kind of muscle. I looked at my hand, and there it was. A scimitar. It looked like it came from a desert region or something similar.

At that moment, I heard a voice in my head. I had heard that voice before...

"You have unlocked the Weapon Arsenal."

The Weapon Arsenal? What is that? Strong confusion filled my mind. I understood the weapon I was looking at. Its history, however, was hidden from me. It was almost as if the scimitar was talking to me.

I could sense the stats that belonged to the weapon. A weapon of Common rank was supposed to help me against this Mythical-looking spear? Well, I could at least try.

I opened my eyes again, and the spear was right in front of my face. I gripped my scimitar tightly and struck the tip of the spear from the side. Slowly, I felt time begin to speed up again. I had successfully deflected the spear. But how was I supposed to defeat this giant?

He slowly looked up, and I tried not to look him in the face.

The woman collapsed onto her knees behind me, crying from the shock.

"How..." The Viking looked in my direction, but with one eye closed.

Then I accidentally looked directly into his other eye. It looked completely normal.

"You deflected Gungnir?" he said, becoming increasingly furious.

"Who gives you the right to stand against a god in human form?"

I said nothing. I simply took one step after another toward him, looking directly into his face as a provocation.

"So you dare to challenge me. Then show me what you can do, you pathetic servant," he said, still keeping one of his two eyes closed.
