As Edwin Fletcher debated with himself, he was soon disrupted by the house door bell that was ringing intervally, he slowly stood up from his bed and went to the front door, he thought to himself as he was fixing his slightly messy hair "I wonder who this could be?" he stood still in front of the wooden door and gently opens itas he greeted the guest, "Hello–", as the door is opened slightly, Edwin's greeting was cut short because in front of Edwin are two cops, on the left is a semi-tall, long brown haired lady with a slight frown on her face wearing a white shirtwaists paired with a dark, ankle-length skirt and on his right a short, dark haired male wearing a standard uniform of a tailored frock coat, vest, and trousers greeting Edwin Fletcher with a somewhat welcoming smile.
Edwin Fletcher was shocked that there are policemen outside his house, he began to overthink things by wondering why there are cops right here right now I haven't done anything wrong today right? I only saved a lady and took the stick of a man that threatened someone… He realized something after pondering deeply in his mind. Could it be that they are after the stick that I took?I mean it is an artifact of magic… Before he could explain his situation, the cops introduced themselves, making Edward slightly freeze in his tracks
"Good morning, Mr. Fletcher. I am Glenn H., Head of the police department of Eldrida, and this here is my associate Ally Cias." Edwin, after hearing their introduction, calmed him a bit; he relaxed his body and re-adjusted his posture again and replied to the Head, "Good morning, Mr H and Ms Cias. How can I help you today?" Mr H made a slightly bigger smile, and Ms Cias relaxed her composure. Mr H moved his hand and positioned them in an open way, looking like he was about to hug someone.
"Mr Fletcher, I have heard of your heroic actions today, and after a quick discussion, we have decided to invite you to be part of our patrol sector." Mr H smile was bigger than ever, he extended his right arm for a shake of agreement, Edwin Fletcher was took a bit back, shocked yet again from their surprising motive, Edwin thought deeply, considering the possibilities and the benefits of joining the patrol sector, a moment of silence was in the atmosphere and Edwin Fletcher made the first move to break that silence "How much am I getting paid for this? Mr H himself looked surprised while Ms Cias was a bit disturbed by the question. Mr H replied, "Considering our low manpower and the increase of catalyst users around the kingdom, I suppose it pays fairly higher than your average salary." Edwin's right eyebrow raised
"And how much is it exactly?" as he stared at Mr H seriously. Ms Cias, who looked very angry, criticized Edwin for his greedy intention. "You know, if you are just going to join for money, then don't consider it!" Mr H grabbed Ms Cias' left hand and calmed her down. "Now, now, let us understand his hesitations first; it is understandable given the current conditions that we have told him." He looked at Edwin with another smile on his face. "So, what do you say, Mr Edwin? 2 Gold paper pounds every 2 weeks?" Edwin, hearing the amount, was filled with the intention to join so suddenly without hesitation because of the said salary, but before he could speak, he was stopped by a follow-up statement of Mr H "And adding to that, here is the recruitment paper; it has everything you need to know about the job."
Mr H grabbed the left side of his coat and extended it back; inside the coat was a pocket with a piece of paper inside. Mr H grabbed the paper and gave it to Edwin. "Now, if you finally made your decision, just go to my office in the headquarters of the police department." He closed his coat and gave Edwin a nod before leaving. Edwin was staring at them as they slowly walked away. After a short while, he looked at the paper, noticing it was a 4-page pinned paper. He closed the door and went back to his room.
