The next day, Arthur is home alone and there's a knock on the door.
Knock knock knock
He opens the door and sees her face, he looks at for a second longer and slams the door on her. "Wait wait" she says as she knocks again. He opens again and asks "What?". She starts to fidget with her hands, embarrassed and guilty for not taking his side.
She averts her gaze down and lets out a gentle "I'm sorry". A quick response from Arthur, "Ok now go away" as he closes the door on her again.
Arthur walks away from the door and hears another knock. He opens and sees it's her again, "What do you want?". She gets angry and questions him "Why do you hate me so much?" as she steps closer to the door and sees that he is shirtless.
She inadvertently lets out a drooling "Wow" while looking at his body and looks up at his face to see his stern look and composes herself.
"Because i can't trust you" says Arthur with a disappointed look.
"That day, i knew you were listening to our conversation and yet i said nothing".
"After I saved your life, you made me a target for the guild and now they blame me for the rift."
"I let you listen because i wanted to see if i could put my trust into you princess" "but you let me down".
"Striving to the reach the top is an admirable goal" "but burning those around you to reach it will become burnt corpses that pull you down to your demise".
She doesn't respond because she blames herself. "I thought you would grow different, but your disgusting ambition won't let you". "Good luck with whatever you do, just stay away from me". He says closing the door and looking at her with a disappointed look and her watching him fade away.
Arthur lays low for several days just relaxing and meditating. Meditation allows him to increase the capacity in how much mana he can absorb.
After the appearance of the tower of dreams, it released a shockwave of mana all around the world and that is how the first awakened where chosen. Each major country has it's own tower but they are all the same. Remnants of the original. The mana release caused everyone to feel the same sensation at the same time and even caused a deadly disease. Manus, a deadly illness that causes the body to continuously absorb mana, making it toxic for the body. The mana absorbed causes bodily functions to cease, eventually causing death.
Arthur and other mana heart wielders are different because the mana doesn't stay in one place, it spreads throughout the body increasing strength, agility and many other functions. It can also harden the wielders skin so that knives or other objects can't penetrate it.
This is also the invisible barrier that allows those to reach A rank and beyond.
On top of a roof watching over the city stands Thomas, a member of the guild surveillance appears and says "He hasn't left his house for several days, but he did get a visit". "Go on" says Thomas not turning around and the guy replies "Mia visited him 2 days ago, they spoke briefly for about 2 minutes. We couldn't hear what they were talking about, but we were able to witness that she left crying".
"Tut Tut" says Thomas as he turns to face him. "How much more incompetence do I have to witness before you get it right." He walks up to the man as he is on one knee looking down. As he hears his footsteps, all other sounds disappear.
A chamber that has filtered out all noises and only his footsteps are heard. He stands above him and grabs his head, the guard thinks "Why can't I hear anything?" Pop goes his ear drums and he coughs blood with blood coming out of everywhere and his body falls to the ground. Another guard stands there and as Thomas walks by he says "I will fix it".
Time passes and they try to get near his house but they realize they can't. It's like a gut feeling, if they get close. They would die. Arthur decides to leave his house. It's dark out and he goes for a walk. With veil attached to each watcher, while walking he disappears for a split second and then reappears. They look confused as to what is going on. They agitated for a moment when he's gone and feel relieved when returns.
It continues until the last one. Arthur walks through a park on the footpath, continuously walking in and out of the light. The spacing between the lamppost creates a dark patch, which shrouds in darkness for a couple of seconds. In and out he goes until...
