Word travelled faster than lightning in a copper storm line.
The moment the guild name Dawnforged appeared on the village interface — even before the ink on the registration parchment dried — players began drifting toward the workshop.
Some came shyly.
Some boldly.
Some pretending they "just happened to be walking past" even though they were absolutely not walking past.
And all of them stared at the crate of softly glowing eggs lined up on Mira's cushioned workbench.
Jonathan leaned toward Riley. "They're not here for the eggs."
"Yeah," Riley murmured. "They're here for the future."
A trio of low-level archers approached first — clearly friends, clearly terrified to speak.
The one in front cleared his throat so quietly he almost swallowed it.
"Uh… excuse me… are you… accepting… recruits?"
Hayes blinked. "Already?"
The archer swallowed. "It's just… you cleared Azure Hollow. And the Juggernaut. And you have… eggs."
He gestured weakly at Aria's egg, which was vibrating like it wanted to start a fight.
Dot placed two legs across the egg like a seatbelt.
Aria beamed. "He's spirited."
The archer soldiered on. "We want to grow. We want to learn. And everyone says your team… treats people well."
Sofia's eyebrows lifted. "People say that?"
"Yeah," the archer whispered. "Players talk. A lot."
Behind him, more drifted in — a healer with a trembling spirit fox, a tank barely level 9, two crafters in mismatched armour.
Hope, excitement, fear — all mixed in their eyes.
Rezion looked overwhelmed.
Kalyani nudged him. "Breathe. You look like you're about to faint."
"I might," Rezion whispered.
Jonathan whispered to Riley, "We're not ready to run a mega-guild."
Riley shook his head gently. "We don't have to."
He stepped forward, raising his voice just enough to reach the growing crowd.
"We're honoured you want to join Dawnforged," Riley began.
Aria whispered, "Ooooh. Leader voice activated."
Dot smacked her affectionately.
Riley continued:
"But Dawnview is only the beginning. Our next step is Emberton. The road is long, dangerous, and full of ambush routes."
Some of the gathered players paled.
Others leaned forward.
Riley looked them over with quiet certainty.
"We won't turn anyone away. But we also won't ask anyone to risk the journey unprepared.
If you want to join Dawnforged, come with us to Emberton."
Sofia added softly, "If you can walk that road with us, you'll fit."
Hayley nodded. "We'll defend each other."
Hayes added, "And train each other."
Kipp, still lying on the floor, pointed upward. "And explode things together!"
Mira stepped on his hand without looking. "Ignore him."
A murmur spread through the crowd — excitement more than fear.
A tank spoke up: "So… we follow you to Emberton?"
Riley nodded. "At your own pace. With your own goals. But yes — walk with us, and you're Dawnforged."
The village players exchanged glances.
Then one by one…
They nodded.
Some eagerly.
Some nervously.
Some with quiet resolve.
Sofia beamed. "We'll have such a big caravan…"
Aria gasped. "Can we get a banner??"
Dot tapped her.
Yes, obviously.
Mira scribbled notes. "I can build one! With hinges! And fold-out compartments!"
Kipp rolled over. "AND A LAUNCHER—"
"No launchers!" everyone yelled.
He pouted.
The Bureau Master arrived with a heavy, glowing stone — Dawnview's formal guild blessing.
"Place your hands on the stone," he instructed.
Riley did.
So did Hayes, Hayley, Sofia, Aria, Jonathan, Rezion, Kalyani, Mira, Kipp — all fourteen of Dawnforged's core.
The stone flared.
> GUILD REGISTERED: DAWNFORGED Tier: F (Local) Members: 14
21 members pending acceptance
Allies: Dawnview Village
Bonus: +8% Reputation Gain (Local Routes)
Caravan Priority: Granted
A shimmer of warm light washed outward from the stone — sweeping through the workshop, out into the plaza, and across the village interface.
Dawnforged was official.
Aria wiped a dramatic tear. "This is the happiest moment of my entire second life."
Dot patted her cheek.
Mira lay on her back in joy.
Kipp passed out.
Hayes nudged him with a boot. "That's the third time today."
Jonathan shrugged. "He's consistent."
Egg Reactions & Future Whisper
As the guild stone dimmed, the eggs reacted.
Every single one pulsed softly — like they sensed the group's unity.
Riley's egg glowed with shifting starlight.
Sofia's egg hummed in silver warmth.
Rezion's frost egg spun gently above his palms.
Kalyani's spark-egg burped smoke.
Aria's egg vibrated like a gremlin preparing mischief.
Ether brushed her nose against Sofia's egg lovingly.
Arcial rested his head against Riley's egg for a moment — as if accepting the newcomer into the family.
For a moment…
The workshop was quiet.
Full.
Hopeful.
"This feels real now," Hayley whispered.
"It is real," Sofia said gently.
Riley exhaled — calm, resolved.
"It starts now."
The Long Day Ends
Night fell in Dawnview.
NPC lanterns lit.
The Stormfront clouds drifted into peaceful dusky violet.
The plaza slowly emptied as crafters closed their stalls and players logged out.
Inside the workshop, the group made one last check of their eggs in the warming crate Mira engineered far too quickly to be normal.
"Temperature stable," Mira murmured. "Essence flow balanced."
Kipp mumbled from the floor, "They'll hatch in friendship…"
"Kipp," Aria said softly. "Go to sleep."
He nodded and immediately fell unconscious again.
Sofia yawned. Ether draped loosely across her neck like a glowing scarf.
Jonathan stretched, spine popping.
Rezion blinked slowly, frosting the air with every exhale.
Kalyani gently rocked her egg, whispering threats of violence to it if it hatched while she was asleep.
Hayes grinned. "Home stretch, folks. Today was… something."
"Legendary," Hayley said proudly.
"It's only going to get bigger from here," Riley said.
Sofia smiled at him — tired, warm, believing.
"Tomorrow," she said, "we rest."
"And then?" Aria asked.
Riley looked toward the eastern gate — toward the road that would soon lead them to Emberton.
"Then," he said softly, "we begin the journey."
A final system notification chimed:
> Dawnview Rest Bonus Unlocked Tomorrow begins your caravan to Emberton.
Recommended: Recovery & Preparation.
One by one, party members logged off — fading into motes of light.
Soon the workshop was quiet.
Only Riley remained.
He looked down at his egg — stars shifting slowly across its shell.
"For Mum," he whispered.
Arcial nudged his arm.
Riley logged off.
