Luna hid behind Riley's leg, giving him the softest "why are you like this?" stare possible. Even Hayes looked uneasy — and he never looked uneasy. Hayley clutched Bramble tighter. "Um… Riley? I love your confidence. I respect it. But I also value living" Jonathan, Rezion, and Kalyani — the three newcomers — huddled together behind Hayes, wide-eyed and already regretting joining a team with this many insane people.
Rezion whispered, "We're going to die." Kalyani nudged him. "We can do it. We just have to trust the party." Jonathan nodded bravely… though his tiger cub clung to his leg, trembling.
Riley turned toward all of them, calm as ever. "We're not dying. Not today. Hard mode gives us the first-clear bonus, the extra chest, doubled essence, and—"Aria interrupted. "AND trauma. Don't forget trauma." Hayes rested a steady hand on his shield and breathed out slowly. "We're here now. No point panicking. Formation? Even Aria. Even Lumi. Especially Luna, who straightened proudly, fluffy tail glowing. A moment later, the dungeon's illusion activated.
The stone walls dissolved into sweeping green light, reforming into an enormous forest cavern — a bioluminescent hollow with towering roots curving into domes overhead. Massive leaves dripped luminescent nectar. Soft green mist drifted upward from the floor. Even the air shimmered with faint spores. Sofia exhaled softly. "It's… beautiful." Hayley nodded. "And dangerous." Because shadows moved between the roots. Many shadows.
Riley raised a hand. "Everyone — stop." The newcomers froze instantly.
Aria lifted her gauntlets, eyes narrowing. "Talk to us, leader boy." Riley pointed toward the glowing moss carpeting the ground. "See this green mist?"
He crouched, brushing a thin layer aside."When it touches skin or fur, it stacks a micro-bleed effect. Tiny damage — one or two points at a time — but constant. If enough stacks build up…"Hayes finished the sentence:"…the healer can't keep up." "Yes." Riley nodded. "Exactly."Jonathan swallowed. "So… what do we do?" Riley smiled slightly. "We drink this." The liquid shimmered like moving glass, swirling with faint distortions. Aria sniffed hers. "It smells like someone liquified a rainbow then forgot to season it." Dot sniffed hers and nearly passed out."Just drink it," Riley said. They did. Right we now have 15 minutes to clear the first two stages, the final boss doesn't require the potion." Hayes rolled his shoulders. "Huh. I feel… lighter." Aria grinned."I feel INVINCIBLE." Rezion's Ice Husky growled quietly. Kalyani's Fire Cat hissed. Jonathan's Tiger Cub bared tiny fangs. Riley looked over the new trio."Listen carefully. This pull determines if we survive the next room." They nodded so fast they became bobbleheads. "Rezion — Ice Burst on my signal. Slow them when they charge."Rezion swallowed. "Y-yes!" "Kalyani — Ignition Slash. Hit the ones on the left flank. Your fire affinity burns the spores off our front line."She nodded fiercely. "Jonathan — Pounce Strike. Focus on single targets. Clean kills only." "Yes, sir!"
Aria gasped. "ARE WE TRAINING A NEW GENERATION OF HEROES RIGHT NOW?!" Hayes sighed."It's called teamwork." "IT'S CALLED EPIC."

Hayes blocked three attackers. Hayley and Bramble guarded Sofia. Aria and Dot fought like a tiny hurricane. And Riley—Riley flowed through the fight like he had lived here. Lumi flashed —STAR TRACE ACTIVE Riley fired another luminous arrow. Two Gnashers burst into motes. Luna pranced forward, horn glowing brightly. "Luna — Moonlit Horn!"She charged. Wobbly. Small. But glowing. BONK
The Root Gnasher flew three feet into a glowing mushroom. Aria screamed:"SHE JUST YEETED THAT THING WITH HER FACE!"
Jonathan cheered. Rezion nearly cried. Kalyani clapped. And Riley felt something warm twist inside his chest. Pride. Luna chirped, glowing triumphantly. The group cleaned up the last of the mobs.

He turned toward the vine-covered archway leading deeper into the dungeon. Its eyes glowed open — the dungeon's first guardian watching them. Aria cracked her knuckles."Ready when you are, captain."Hayes steadied his shield."Everyone form up."Lumi floated forward, light blazing like a tiny sun.Luna pressed close to Riley, shaking once — then standing tall.Riley lifted his bow."Start the recording, Aria.
