Chapter 68 - The witch moves

Charlie looked at the empty room that belonged to his general; only one day was left until the dungeons ended.

In the absence of Alexanderia, he had full control over their base. For generals, their base had a very important role in their rank; the military didn't give a base, just a small piece of land and some money for them to build it themselves.

For the past forty years, Alexanderia hadn't even taken one dollar for herself; all of her paycheck went for her base. Now, 12000 people worked there, with most of them being starter soldiers and normal citizens.

"He will return too…" Charlie grinned his teeth; one singular person defied all the rules in their base.

From the first day, Charlie and three other people had followed Alexanderia to the once bare land, but none of them had been given the privilege to be called a vice general.

Ray Kurosawa had become their vice general; even though it was mostly an act, in the eyes of the public, his rank outclassed all of them. And now there were many rumors about his romance with the general; most of the people in the base viewed Alexanderia as an untouchable idol; however, she didn't deny the rumors.

As he closed the door behind him, an alarm rang throughout the base. "Am I hearing wrong?" A rank 9 alarm!

He took out his phone to check it out; only a message was on the surface:

The witch is on the move.

His body froze in place. "Some time ago the general fought with her; is she after revenge?"

"Everyone leave the base as soon as possible." A woman's voice came from the sky.

Charlie teleported himself in the sky above the base too; his colleague and their second strongest person stood there.

"What the hell happened?"

"Be ready to escape as soon as possible." The woman looked down on the scared crowd beneath them. "I have taken everything we had in the bunker."

Charlie knew her answer, but he asked her anyway: "What about everyone else?"

"They can be replaced, not us."

"That's the mindset of the military's high ranking people?" A portal cracked the sky, and from that a figure stepped out: "How disappointing."

Her white and golden hair moved freely in the air, with a golden cloak covering her body.

All over the news, the broadcasted event was live; a hidden message had told a few of them that something big was going to happen. First they didn't believe it, but now all the news satellites in the sky are focused on the base.

But Charlie and Freya didn't know that they could hear even their whispers.

Freya said with no regret, "That's rich coming from someone who waited for a time that no general is there to stop her."

Jade giggled. "You think your little general could have stopped me? I'm just here for some entertainment." She opened her hands to the sky. "I will give you all a chance. If one of you fights me for 10 minutes and stays alive, I will let you all go."

Charlie clenched his fists. "If she fights here, nothing will remain out of the base, and who is stupid enough to want to fight her?"

Both of them teleported themselves out of the base instantly, with Freya going for the nearest base and Charlie going for Alexandria's house.

"Hahaa..." Jade laughed from the bottom of her heart: "I will count to 10."

The crowd had lost a lot of their hope; if their two level 7 commanders escaped, what was their chance? And all of them had no way to teleport themselves within the lands of the base.

"1"

...

"4"

The only response that she got was silence; she obviously enjoyed the fear that she had caused.

"6"

...

All of them stopped moving; at that point, all of their actions were futile. Death knocked on their door.

"9"

"I take up your challenge." All eyes moved to the new person that had come to their rescue; his long hair moved in the air as two wings with red feathers kept him in the sky.

"Vice General..."

"But he's only level 3 ..."

"You have the guts; I like you, but you are too small for my entertainment." She pointed at the place that the other two had stood seconds ago: "They might have had the chance."

"You are only sore because Alexandria defeated you, and now you want revenge. You have already destroyed the reputation of her higher-ranking people. I'm her vice general and lover; my life is worth more than all the other people in here. Let them go, and I will take up your challenge."

Jade smirked, "You are too cocky. Fine, I will cut off your organs and send them to her as a gift."

She swung her hand; white clouds took over the ground as they teleported any living creature to the center of the city.

With their systems, another conversation was going on.

"How much can I hurt you?"

"Fight seriously. I have made some preparations. Let's give the world a show."

In the meantime, all around the globe people were staring into their screens with open mouths. His courage and sacrifice was one of those that they only have seen in the movies and books.

While some others were triggered by another word of his: "lover."

"He just confessed..."

"When the general returns and sees his lover dead..."

"Why no one helps him..."

With nine of the generals being in the squad dungeons and the last one being in a private training session, only seven kings could match up to Jade, but the chances of them interfering were zero too.

For Ray's preparations, Marian had given him access to her private arsenal; many weapons, and some exclusive ones that were only used on Mars, had found their way into his hands. "An ex-general that went on Mars is not someone to take lightly."

"Let's have some fun."

Two portals tore apart the sky as two angels came out from them, moving to Jade's side.

All around them, blood monoliths rose from the ground, twelve monoliths each fifty meters in height. Marian couldn't participate in the battle herself, so she had lent him many points in his magic.

With 1000 stats in magic, Ray could do anything he wanted freely.

Jade summoned a big clock above their heads. "Your time starts now."
