Chapter 38 - Viper

Ray inspected the people in the room; Viper himself sat in the middle with three other men doing their own stuff.

Viper's personal squad was made of three men; Ray didn't know their exact information, but even if all four of them were to face him, he still had the chance to finish the job.

The women still were pleasing him when Viper started to talk: "After failing by the hands of a nineteen-year-old boy, you guys have the guts to show up around here."

"At least we had the guts to attack in the upper world. And now the whole world recognizes our existence; I wouldn't call that a failure." Ray said with his usual tone, although he hated when the other party was like savages.

Viper laughed. "Haahaa, I kinda like you, not gonna lie, but things around here are different. With the generals after your neck, why should I put myself in danger?"

"If Generals were on my neck, I would have died by now. And I'm pretty sure your aunt can protect your business." One of the seven kings of the underground was his aunt, which made him cocky and careless at the same time.

"You seem to have done your research. Ok, we will work this time. If I'm happy with the results, we will work again." Viper pointed at the women around him to leave.

He stood up and picked up his watch; only a pair of pants appeared on his body. He once more sat on the sofa.

"So, how many crystals do you want?"

"Ten dark crystals for now; we don't know the quality of your work yet."

"How will you pay?" Viper picked up his phone as the other men in the room came close to him.

"100 million dollars in cash. I think that's the usual price in the market."

Greed was visible in Viper's eyes; that was way more than the price of the market. His thoughts changed to a bright future: "Whoever charges them with supply must be dead rich. That's at least thirty percent higher than the market price!"

"Deal. When do you need them?"

"Now." Ray's vision was still on the other men in the room, trying to figure out their magic and fighting style. Most of them didn't have a sign of a workout on their body. "They must be mostly long range fighters, but Himself is another thing."

"His sidemen don't seem that strong; he is not the kind of man that would agree to hire someone stronger than him as his men. I should be able to easily cut through them to reach the root." The longer he watched them, the more sure he became that they were just ordinary people.

Demons were a rarity among billions of humans because affinity was not given by chance; it was given by nature. The most bloodthirsty people were only Demons. And that made each of them one of the most dangerous creatures in mankind's history.

Ray had heard about Viper's magic. His bloodline was poison magic; when in a hundred years he could use radiation poisoning as his aura, he would turn into one of the seven kings.

For now Ray had guessed that he was around his own level too.

"I must assume you don't want to do the transaction in here. Meet us in the silent forest in an hour. Bring anyone else beside yourself, and we go back."

Ray pointed at his men surrounding him. "That goes for you too. Only two other men are allowed."

"Deal." Viper grinned at Him; his teeth were made of gold with the word "Viper" carved into them.

The smell and the constant act of being a savage was making Ray sick to the core. He just turned around and left them remaining on their spot.

"Silent forest, huh?" It was a sacred place for making transactions in the underground. It was located in the middle of the seven cities that were run by the underground forces.

Its rules were unwritten, but no one dared to oppose them; shedding blood would mean becoming an enemy to the whole underworld.

After leaving the club, Ray took a few deep breaths, happy with the little fresh air in the air. He moves toward a teleport station.

"I must have enough time to take up the money and teleport near the silent forest." This time around Ray used his magic to move faster in the air; one golden wing appeared on his back.

He made sure to make some mistakes while flying and show some weaknesses in his pose in the air. There were surely many eyes on him. With his blood turning into golden blood, with a little shining on it. Most would have thought it was Divine magic or Light magic.

Soon, Ray was in the station again; he retrieved his bag from the safe deposit in the station. The woman in charge smiled at Ray as she gave him back his bag: "Have a good day, sir."

"Thanks." Ray wondered if they knew what was inside the bag; what would their reactions be?

He checked the map of the city and the area around the silent forest. "If a leviathan wants to reach from one of the cities to the silent forest, it should take less than three minutes. It should take some time for them to understand that Viper is under attack; at best I have ten minutes from the moment I start."

All the Cardinals had a chip of their own that showed their body's state to the seven kings. The military had the same method with most advanced technologies.

Ray walked toward the portal in the middle of the station; all he had to do was to think of where he wanted to go. As he stepped into the portal, the world changed itself.

White oaks, each hundreds of meters, trying to cut the sky, were all that was visible in front of him. Unlike the rest of the world, this forest was like an artifact frozen in time.

"I wonder what shall remain from this place after I'm done."
