Ray's scythe cut the air; his target had long moved to his side. His wings summoned thousands of blood spears all at once, charging toward Viper.
A green snake came into existence as it swallowed all the blood spears. Its tail swung in the air; the swish sound was enough for Ray to dodge it.
In response, Ray made out a tiger of his own blood; both creatures clashed on the other side of the battlefield.
Viper's body started to change; a few bones on him broke as two new objects grew on his shoulders. Two machine guns, each stronger than his weapon, fired at Ray.
"Not bad..." Ray's smile grew wider. He escaped from the fire range as fast as he could, circling around the man in the center.
The sky itself was torn apart; above their heads it turned into broken pieces. Yellow eyes appeared on each of the pieces.
"Someone noticed..." Viper was happy; that meant they had already found out about the assassination.
Ray ignored the eyes; it was already in his calculations. "At this point in time, she should be level 8."
For the mere second that Viper put his guard down, Ray closed the distance between them.
Their weapons clashed as cracks appeared on the ground with each impact.
His wings changed his speed constantly; guessing his direction was near impossible.
Ray summoned one of the dark crystals above his head; his magic invaded its structure. A dark crystal was just a vessel for the magic crystals. With one Ray couldn't make a magic crystal.
Their speed grew beyond what a human's eyes could follow, even though they were even.
"How is he so calm? In a few minutes my aunt should arrive..." Viper attacked more violently, trying to crush Ray's head.
His mind's main focus was on the dark crystal: "Only a little more." He increased his thought process on the dark crystal, as his body got on defense against Viper.
Viper pushed him to his limits more and more. "This is the end..." His claymore attacked from above; if it landed, Ray would be cut in half.
Before it could land, it saw the dark crystal turning into a fluid. "Fuck..."
It was too late for him to run away; the white fluid expanded itself to the whole area, and both of their figures burned in the flame.
"Dark crystals at their cores are hell flame magic. I must say you are way stronger than what I had thought..."
Hell flames didn't cause any destruction to the real world; their only goal was to cause pain and suffering so immense that one would rather kill themself.
Cold sweats covered Viper's skin; he tried his best to not fall on the ground. Viper felt many emotions at the same time. His bones broke one after another; he was being skinned alive; all her loved ones were dead as he stood among their corpses. His hunger grew so much that he wanted to eat his own flesh.
All Viper could do was scream from pain internally.
"How are you..." His eyes watched as Ray walked slowly, dragging the tip of his scythe on the ground.
"I and pain are old friends." Ray was not immune to the pain, yet in his mind, his preservation to pursue his goals was greater.
Viper coughed blood: "You have no honor..."
Ray simply replied, "Honor? Your honor is going to save you now?"
"..."
"Let me tell you your last story: once there was a man who refused to let go of his pride and mortality; he sacrificed his whole life to make the world a better place, yet in the end his words and actions didn't change anything."
Ray breathed the white flames around him and continued, "Until one day he saw a difference; those who caused fear made everyone change their attitude."
"In this world, there is no right or wrong or good or bad; there is only power that matters."
From the very beginning, Ray knew he was no match for Viper in a fair fight; his magic was much stronger compared to him, but in the world, nothing was going to be fair, so why would Ray agree to fight with him with no tricks up his sleeve?
That was his own fighting style, using any method, and no matter what it takes to win. The winner could take it all, and the other one had to spend the rest of his life under the soil.
His blade found its target at last; blood splashed from the wound on Viper's throat as his corpse fell on the ground.
Mission completed.
You have slain Lorenzo Viper.
Rewards: 100000 coins
Ray didn't waste a second to invest it all on his mind.
His mind jumped from 130 to 162 in one go. "Now, I can finally do a proper multitask." Ray sighed; he wanted to run as soon as possible, with still two minutes remaining.
Suddenly a new message popped up in his brain:
New mission
Survive
All around the world in the military bases, a level 9 alarm sounded; people were running, trying to get in touch to gather all the generals to be ready for the worst-case scenario.
On every monitor and phone that belonged to the military, one message was shown:
The witch is moving.
Ray was aware of such a mission; in his long lifetime, he got that massage only one time, when Scarlet wanted to kill him.
"Long time no see, Ray."
Death itself talked to him; his ears were familiar with this voice. It belonged to his partner in his previous life and the woman who succeeded in killing an Immortal on earth.
"You remember me?" Ray slowly turned to face the grim reaper.
"Not much."
His body froze from the sole pressure on him. "Do you want to kill me?"
"No, let's play a game instead. Escape successfully for 10 minutes, and then you get to survive."
Ray's expression became gloomy; there was nothing he could do against a level 8.
