The next day…
Derivan woke up. "What happened?"
"You're finally awake. Since you managed to pass the first stage of training, now it's time to teach you a few techniques."
Hearing this, Derivan became excited at the thought of learning new techniques. 'Really?"
"Yes, but first let's find out what kinds of magical natures you possess." Ronibo pulled out a strange sphere. "Place your hand on this orb and release your choki. This sphere will show what natures you have."
Derivan placed his hand on the orb and released his choki. When he did, a flame shot out of the sphere first, then drops of water appeared, followed by electrical discharges. Next, the orb turned to stone, and finally a weak wind emerged.
"Impossible…" Ronibo commented in shock.
"What happened?"
"You possess all the elements. That's unbelievable. I've never heard of any human who could wield all magical natures. The elite among mages can control at most three natures."
"Really? That's awesome."
"Since I can wield the lightning element, I'll teach you a special attack. Watch closely."
"Okay."
Ronibo extended both hands in front of him, then joined his middle and ring fingers together, concentrating his choki within them.
"Ultimate Lightning Bolt!" Ronibo fired a powerful bolt of lightning, astonishing Derivan.
"Wow, that's an incredible attack!"
"Now you try."
Derivan nodded and decided to do exactly what his master had done. After extending his hands and joining his middle and ring fingers together, the teenager tried to fire a bolt of lightning, but it didn't work.
"Huh? What's going on?"
"You need to focus the right amount of choki to perform this attack."
"I understand."
Derivan wasn't the only one training. Somewhere in another hall, Nohara was training as well.
"I didn't expect to find you here. You're training all the time?" Alice asked."
"Yes. I have to prepare for the exams to obtain the next rank. Besides, I have to surpass you" Nohara added the last sentence in her thoughts.
"You know that our ancestor once trained in this very hall. Have you heard of Daroni?
Nohara shook her head in response. "No, I haven't."
"Supposedly, he was the most powerful person in our lineage. On top of that, he awakened a legendary ability called Kuritaizu."
"Kuritaizu?"
"Kuritaizu is a special ability that can create powerful crystals. These crystals also possess sealing properties; with them, even mighty demons can be sealed."
"Wow, amazing."
"Supposedly, thanks to Kuritaizu, Daroni was able to seal the Shonetsu demons."
At the same time, Ray was walking through the city when he suddenly noticed Borner.
"It's you."
"Oh, Ray, hello."
"You two know each other?" King Maroke asked.
"You could say that. Tell me, Ray, how are your preparations for the exam going?"
"It's obvious that I'm the favorite and I'll definitely obtain a higher rank" the teenager replied with a confident expression.
"If I were you, I wouldn't be so sure. Nohara is also taking part in this exam" the king pointed out.
"Maroke is right. It's good to be confident, but if you're too confident, it can become your downfall" Borner added.
Ray merely narrowed his eyes at the remark.
"Yeah, yeah, thanks for the advice" he said as he walked past them.
It was the middle of the night. Derivan stood there, breathing heavily. "So, what do you think?"
Ronibo was shocked by what his student had accomplished.
"This is unbelievable…" he thought.
"What's wrong, did you bite your tongue?"
"Forgive me. I just didn't expect you to be able to do something like that. I think we'll end the training for today. You'd better go to bed and get some rest."
"Okay, but before that I need to take a bath, because I reek of sweat."
Ronibo watched as his student walked away.
"Derivan, you truly have the makings of a genius" he thought with a proud smile.
