The low rumble of Kasteil's car pulling up the drive sent a jolt through me. No one else ever came down this road. I darted to the window, heart already racing, only to freeze with a fresh wave of embarrassment.
Gods, what I did this morning…
I'd practically begged him, grinding on him like I was in heat even though I wasn't. I'd told Phoenix I was just being an omega, but actually acting like that in front of Kasteil still made my cheeks burn. I couldn't believe I'd been that shameless.
I hurried back to the bed and snatched up my phone, pretending to scroll. Pretending to be asleep would've been ridiculous.
I counted every second until I heard the front door open. He was earlier than usual. I'd seen the men in suits drop Chow Chow off a couple hours ago—she was already curled up asleep in her bed. They'd both had fresh bruises, especially the one who looked like their leader. I'd wanted to ask, but they hadn't lingered.
The bedroom door clicked open.
