"Anyway," Phoenix said, clearing his throat dramatically, "did you see that new club that just opened?"
"Club?" I asked, my brow furrowing. "No."
I had never been to a club before. Those were the kinds of places I only saw in movies or dramas. Loud music, bright lights, people dancing, drinking. Definitely not somewhere I had ever imagined myself going.
"Yes!" Phoenix said excitedly, his earlier embarrassment forgotten. "Apparently Garrett owns it."
"Who?"
"The guy married to Mrs. Phillips."
"Oh..." I nodded slowly, the name finally clicking.
I knew who Mrs. Phillips was. Well... kind of. I had never actually met her. She was an older woman the boys liked to gossip about. Her husband was younger than her. From what I'd heard, she was incredibly wealthy. I couldn't remember ever hearing her husband's first name before.
"So that's Garrett."
"Exactly." Phoenix clicked his tongue, his expression souring. "I don't like that guy."
